Hello

Well, I thought I would drop in and introduce myself since I started playing yesterday.

My name is Nick. I am 42. I have played and GM'd RPG's since I was 10. I have played MMO's for over 10 years. The list of everything I have played is extensive.

I like the idea of a more RP world, and G-452 has been bugging me for a while (read years) to try out Layonara. I honestly don't have a good reason for avoiding it other than just other things were going on. I have known G-452 for longer than would like to remember, and now that he is my upstairs neighbor, I figured I would get him to stop whining.

Anyhow, hopefully I can have some fun here and contribute to the world.

If you want to know more about me, just ask.

Welcome and congratulations on a spotless CA record for your submission. You must've done some homework.

Funny, I too joined Layo when a mate of mine bugged me to join for months, or was it a year? I'm looking at you, Shiff!

Anyway, it's nice to meet you, and I hope to see you in-game. Let me know if you have any questions on getting started. Lord knows I've been through the level 1-5 process quite a bit.

Thank you all for the replies!

So far the game is enjoyable, and I love a lot of the concepts I see.

You might not be as happy with me in the long run because I tend to voice what I think and have no fear of giving feedback. ;)

I hope that I am able to contribute some positive things back to the community in the long run.

To give you some idea of my history with RPGs, both paper and computer, I started playing D&D at 10 and AD&D shortly thereafter. I starting DMing from day one, and love every minute of it. I have played every D&D/AD&D based computer game that I am aware of clear back to the old Pool of Radiance days.

Not at all an inclusive list of the pencil and paper RPGs I have played:

D&D, AD&D, Battletech, Cyberpunk, 007, Dr. Who, Nam, GURPS, and Planetfall.

My online RPG days go back to MUDs. I played, GM'd, and designed in several MUDs. I have played MMOs since the early days of Star Wars Galaxies. A not all inclusive list of MMOs would be: Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, Pirates of the Burning Sea, Guild Wars, EverQuest II, Dungeons and Dragons Online, Lord of the Rings Online, Star Trek Online, and Rift.

Anyhow, enough prattling on. Now you know more about me.

One P&P RPG I tried about a year ago had the name Stormbringer, based on Michael Moorcock's Elric of Melniboné saga.
Had a real intensive damage system (body parts could literally be chopped off, bleeding usually resulted in death) and was otherwise an intense system to play, if you created a character that had really bad rolls, well... your character could be missing one leg and would use a cane, etc.
It was an interesting experience.
