Greetings to all,

Just wanted to say Hi.  I came across this site while looking up information on character sheets, of all things.  I just recently purchased NWN and have been play nonstop since.  I have always wondered what it was like to play in an online community and this one seemed well established and friendly, I thought I would give it a shot.

A little about me; I am 40, played DnD back in the 80's.  Haven't really had time to play pnp DnD, so resorted to playing all of the pc rpg's.


Any suggestions on what to character to play?  I've been thinking about a human barbarian or a half elven ranger.  Is there a need for something specific?

First of all...welcome to Layonara! We hope that you enjoy your time here. In terms of your character, I think both of those choices are viable...although I myself have a heart for elven blood.

Do remember you can have up to 6 characters here so who knows you might want to bring your barbarian in at a later stage.

 Is there a need for something specific?

Yes, there is a need for a positive attitude, a desire to have fun, and a willingness to learn and accept some of the communities foibles.  

If you possess all three, roll up your character and start having fun.

Speaking as both a character submitter and a character approver, all I have to say is read the handbook, read LORE, read everything you can get your hands on, so you're immersed in the gameworld as you write.  It helps immeasurably.

Speaking just as me, I'll say this: this is the best gameworld out there.  You are indescribably lucky to have happened upon it.  Have fun!
