Que pasa mi amigos?
My name is Mike Powers. Mugshot to follow, I can't find one and jacking one from a friend's myspace is proving difficult. The link below has me running at a pumpkin and smashing it with a 15 pound wooden hammer a buddy of mine made.
YouTube - Smash Club (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ET7K-eUCcmw)
Yea, we're all pretty immature.
I'll update this as I feel neccessary.. but here's the basic jist of me.
I play the guitar. I work a mind-numbing job. I'm a computer science major. I drive a Jeep that I named Bixbee, because she is my sweet southern belle. I've played a GMed off and on here for years now. Online RPGs are my least favorite form of videogame, Layonara just as some kind of right thing going on and it keeps me here.
I like action. I'm fickle and bored easily, as a friend here once told me.
Aside from Layonara the only other games I really play right now are Wolfenstien Enemy Territory and the odd Total Annihilation game.
I live in a wee town named Granby, located in a valley that fills with snow every year, and quickly melts causing us all to live on boats for a few weeks. It's fun. It's like Water World without Kevin Cosner's terrible acting ruining the whole deal.
-
It's good to know Layo gamemasters smash things in their free time, really.
:P cheers.
-
Where are you getting all that stuff?
-
I like the fact that you chose Black Label Society as the back track for your wanton act of vandalism :D
-
Omg, its gallagher!
Nice video, wished me and my friends recorded us smashing up stuff too.
-
Where are you getting all that stuff?
We have our sources.
-
Smash things? Well he's close to Huntington.. so yeah smash things is fitting :D
-
Who is Huntington and do they have city walls?
-
Were the electronics dead or dying before the breaking?

Were the electronics dead or dying before the breaking?
I can tell you that they were unused, mostly trash, and stuff we found. We assumed they were broken under the circumstances that we came across them.
And if they weren't broken then...
-
Breaking someone else's trash for entertainment and/or stress relief. That does not sound like a bad idea.
-
Toodles, everyone.
-
Toodles? You going somewhere? =)
-
Toodles? You going somewhere? =)
Quite possibly!
-
Quite possibly!
Does it involve a white jacket that buckles up from the back, and a nice padded room?
*grins and winks*

*grins and winks*
You killed my horse.
Prepare to die!
-
You killed my inner child!
-
Your both killing me!!
-
*shakes a fist* I shall kill you with tiny schools of fish!
-
*shakes a fist* I shall kill you with tiny schools of fish!
Fish? That's your ace in the hole?
Hah, I laugh at you.
I laugh real hard.
And then I cough.
So hah.
-
These fish are killers! They bury them selves in your skin, tapping into your nerves they sing backstreet boy and N'Sync songs to you till you go mad and become a cross dressing britanny spears.
-
I moved to the city. People are loud, strange, and fight outside in a parking lot pretty often.
I wanted to install NWN and smear a dungeon or something but I can't find my CD key.
I got a new computer for when Fallout 3 comes out. Anyone else excited?
Yea.
So whatever. If I find a CD Key, I will probably make a come back because this always happens and to be quite frank, I'm a little nuts. A lot of nuts. Like chashews and walnuts and stuff.
I am home a lot more often. (People usually want to come here. It's wicked nice for that whole "What place are we going to drink be loud at now?" problem.)
Yea.
-
Whoops. Apparantly I left it before the move, threw it out, or something. The CD keys of NWN have cost me a lot of money over the years. It's not like I ever did the smart thing and type the Key into Word document.
I refuse. REFUSE to buy another copy of NWN.
-
*snickers*
-
A friend gave me his CD Key. I will quite possibly make a small come back.
-
And it works. Just waiting on the all-in-one hak. It's downloading pretty fast for 900 and something megs. Kudos to Leanthar for awesome servers.
Edit - I found my old install of NWN on the hard drive from my old computer. I copied the CD Keys directly from the nwncdkey.ini file. It accepted them and installed. Now, when I try and start NWN, it tells me to enter the CD Keys and it tells me they are invalid key entries. I copied and pasted them, I ran it windowed and typed them, and now I am giving up. It was a fun idea, but not worth all of this effort.
-
So, yea. I uh, found that I can just copy it over from my old hard drive.
Kinda worked easier than I thought. Yea.
-
Yay, 8bit is back!
-
Three days running now. This place sure has changed.
-
In what way? *shifty*
-
In what way? *shifty*
When you played Layonara a few months ago you had to ignore 90% of the server population to get in some deep RP with a few people.
Now seeing another person or RPing with someone is rare, at least for me. Granted I play at a strange time, it is just depressing to see the difference.

Then I dare say Key and Dur'Thak should strike up a rousing conversation of insults! :)

Agreed. I do believe that there is a lot of trouble two Tieflings could cause for eachother.
-
. . . and those within a 10KM radius :)
-
So, yea, I am trying to get back again.
I have a new computer, built by your's truly, that does not like NWN in the least.
I'm running XP pro.
I'm not asking for technical support, I think I have it. I'll probably ask later when this doesn't work.
Hallo.
-
I cannot get NWN to work. I believe it is the Quad Core.
However, the process does run which is confusing. I even gave NWN a processor affinity and still no dice.
Anyone have a similar problem and a solution?
-
Hi there!
Okay I tried to look on bioware, and here is the link of topics
Neverwinter Nights: (http://nwn.bioware.com/forums/search_results.html?srchString=quad+core&searchIn=posts&srchType=textonly&postType=recent)
Do you also have a geforce 8800 or something? Seems people have problems with it.
Anyways hope this can be of use! Im new and I'd like to see you in game. :)
-
I do, actually. I tried taking one out, and seeing if it was two video cards that as causing NWN to protest, but alas it was not.
Thanks for the link! You have a lot better luck with bioware's site than I do.
-
so have you found out what it is yet?
-

A combination of the two 8800s and the Quad Core not liking NWN at all. I couldn't find a fix the CPU, but I got one for the 8800s.
It's six against one here. I'll be back when the new Layonara is released.

Eight Bit, out of curiosity - is the nwn application running but the screen appears "black" ?
If that is the case, it is in fact caused by the newer 100.xx series of drivers from Nvidia. If you get lucky - it is possible to click on the "load game" button and the screen will come to life. So for me everytime I launch NWN it's a crapshoot to see the screen as I have to maneuver around and find the right thing to click. If by chance I click the wrong menu, and hear the "click" sound, but noting appears, I hit ESC a few times to back out of what ever menu I loaded and try again.
I really should have taken teh blindfighting feat.
-
The process runs, but it doesn't drain my CPU at all. It will flicker for a second every few seconds, but it doesn't do anything else.
The process runs, it takes a little bit of juice every so often, but otherwise it is as if I was not running NWN at all.
Harsh.
-
So, yeah, lets get this show on the road. I don't know if it was the serious threat of harm, the destruction of my W key's bouncyness from annoyed smashing, or the recent nvidia driver I downloaded. I also disabled the other video card.
Somewhere between doing all of that it started working again.
-
Yaaaay.........8bit is back.

I found this. It should help you out.

A viable work around for those users that either want to wait for a non-beta driver or do not want to roll their existing drivers back is to create a shortcut to nwmain.exe, right click on it, choose "Properties", the "Shortcut" tab, and then in the "Target" field add the following text after "\\NWN" (i.e. C:\\NeverwinterNights\\NWN\\)
nwmain.exe +TestNewModule "modulename"
Please note that there is a space before the + sign in the above line. This will launch the game and immediately try to load a module with the name "modulename" (which shouldn’t exist). You could then use the "cancel" button to back out to the main menu and start your game as normal.

Try doing what he said. It worked for me.

Sweet Dirty Monkies! Thanks mate :)
-
oh bloody hells 8 bit and dur both at the same time, hold on to your hats
-
Nah, we don't steal hats . . . well unless the head was still inside it, and answered to the name mimir, and granted free sandwiches on command . . .

I'll try and be on some nights, and some weekends, but it will only be an hour to an hour and a half investment. Until school is out and I can ride on the Layonara train for a little while longer.

Even with school out it's impossible to get the time to log in. When school starts again, and it does this Tuesday, I'll never see Layonara.
-
I hear ya mate. I think I log in every so often just to stir up the cobwebs.
Hard to play with Promotion (aka extra hours) + school + girlfriend + *cough* eve online *cough* I haven't even had a chance to play supreme commander lately. I guess it was a good thing that I picked up a nintendo ds lite - it's really become my only gametime.
I'm confident that some day soon Key and Dur can go on a rampage and annoy all the "primers" XD
-
You can't say I haven't tried. I've gone to log on, but two people were in, so I decided to go for a run instead.
Anyone else in New England notice that it won't stop raining?
-
No worries mate, there will always be hats filled with heads laying around for collection :) I'll certainly c'ya round, if and when.
-
Free time tomorrow. Until early evening. I want to do stuff, see the new areas, roleplay, and maybe get some duels in. If you want to meet up with a level 15 Rogue who will gladly stab you in the back before doing what you want, then please by all means let me know.
Otherwise, pike off. Sodderin' idjits.
-
Bleeding apple chasssser.
XD
-
So a minor update! I had to delete NWN for space for utilities for classes. It was a wicked bummer but let's face it, I don't play anymore. I'm sticking around for the MMO, but to be honest I'm not feeling like I'll be into it like I was NWN's layonara. It's a different time in my life, and time is really the issues.
I'm moving to Ohio in January. We haven't picked a location yet but we're looking to be within 30 minutes of Mason.
-
I hear you mate. I know a lot of my game time has gone to the wayside. I'm pretty much limited to quick fixes lately, which I don't think I can do appropriately in Layo :)
I'm still around for the community and to see what this whole mmo thingy is about.
And to think, I just graduated from High School 10 years ago and I have all these nifty memories and wacky responsibilities :)
-
21 days until I move to Ohio.
Hooray!
-
Ohio? What part?
-
West Chester, down near Cincinnati.
-
Whoa, that's like... only about an hour away from me.
Heyyyyy, 8bit~
-
Oh.
Hi!
.......
oh.
-
Word up
-
Oh.
Hi!
.......
oh.
O-hi-o? what?
-
Oh.
Hi!
.......
oh.
Took me three days to get that one, sirrah!
Touche, indeed!
-
So two days until the big move. I'm not excited about the drive, but I am excited to get out of stabsville and into a nice, quiet, semi-rural community with access to the assets a city provides.
Almost everything is packed, and because all of our furniture was ruined by too many parties, we're lucky enough to be taking all of about 22 boxes with us. Boxes which will be distributed between two cars while still having room for my guitar, our tv, and a carrier with two cats in it.
I'd hate to be a cat come Friday morning.
-
Ohio is awesome. Everyone is nicer, and I'm spending about 50-60% to live just like I did in Massachusetts.
It's pretty laid back, which I'm enjoying, until people get into a car. So I'm fitting in just fine. Beer is almost half price, but booze costs about 30% more. So meh, whatever.
It's pretty amazing what 800 miles can change.
Any other Ohio Layo players out there?
