I'm still scrambling trying to catch up to Leanthar's post count! Right now I'm just at 0.85 percent of the TOTAL forum posts... and he has me blown out of the water about 7 or 8 times over...

My three hundred forty-third post in "Just for Fun"! Other than that, my climbing post count, seen to the left, is only about forty-five hundredths percent of all of the forums, and I average about one and five hundredths posts per day. Not mentioning those statictics are climbing too.

Okay, I am officially bowing out of the thank-you race with Dorg, having determined his lead is now completely unassailable.
The pressure is getting to me, I just can't be nice to everyone anymore and keep trying to think of thankable notions about which to post. It's like the forum version of going to the beach and sucking your tummy in the whole time. It's time to let go, breathe out and say the unpopular, sarcastic, snide and bitter things that have been building up for months.
Or is it? Is there any shame in second? Should I concentrate on consolidating second spot?

The secret of the thanks are that they are reinforced by the divine forces of karma. It is one thing to be thanked often, but to give thanks is much higher on the scale of benevolence. Therefore, envy not those people who are thanked often but thank little in return, for karma will punish them for their thanklessness. One day, that one little guy who only got thanked once or twice his whole life will win the lottery because he thanked the forum members who helped him frequently... but then Dorg will wake up that morning to find his car has been struck by a meteorite on the very day he forgot to pay his auto insurance on time... and the Pseudonymn shall rejoice!

I still think there should be a requirement for people to thank as often as they are thanked. I think the team seriously needs to look into this important balance issue. ;)

Much like the word 'love' that becomes mostly useless and nondescript when we love our dogs, our favorite movies, that pair of socks, that ratty pair of underwear, the lifemate, the curtains, the burger, chocolate, that one song by that 70's band, etc... who can be flattered by the word after that, really? It belongs in the brothel! So to does a gratuitous, meaningless thank you. ;) Besides, what if we actually reply with a thank you or say it in person rather than letting a button do it!

@Jan - You do realise that Dorg has over 6,000 posts don't you?
Let's say you decided to actually go and do that - finding and clicking on each one taking maybe 30 seconds each time ... there's 3,000 minutes ... 50 hours ... Two and a bit full days spent doing nothing but inflating Dorg's count and thats assuming you don't have to stop to eat, drink, sleep, etc. which would probably stretch it out to 3 or 4 days.
Me on the other hand, only 1,150 or so posts, you could start first thing in the morning and be done by early evening.
Additionally, when Leanthar implements his "10 forum thank yous for one ingame level" trade day (which I am anticipating happening any day now), whereas Dorg will callously ignore you, I will maybe graciously throw you a bone for your efforts.

This would work a lot better if we had a sweatshop of cubicles filled with little paid posters to press the thank yous for 5 cents an hour each. That's how they got all the positive online reviews for Ashley Simpson's new album... they seriously traced all the posts back to the same office complex in China. Either the communist government has some kind of invested interest in American lip-synchers, or her daddy rented some PR.

Dorg, I would just like to say that your "daring" thanks to Pseud is a beautiful and touching gesture. Really, it brings tears to my eyes. That you have the grace and dignity to thank someone who has competed with you for so long and finally realized that the battle is futile.... We all know Dorg is a very helpful chap around here and I do very little, useful or otherwise. These are facts beyond dispute and a circumstance one might say, at first glance, that means Pseudo is destined to forever lag behind Dorg in the thanks count.
But wait! This may have been the case right up until the point very recently where some top secret documents came across my desk about Dorg. Very revealing documents indeed about the true nature of Mr Helpful. Below is a copy of some working papers containing first drafts of Dorg's answers to queries and requests.
1. Thank you - we're all refreshed and challenged by your unique point of view.
2. The fact that no one understands you doesn't mean you're an artist.
3. I don't know what your problem is, but I'll bet it's hard to pronounce.

It will not only erase everything on your hard drive, but it will also delete anything on disks within 20 feet of your computer. It demagnetizes the stripes on ALL of your credit cards. It reprograms your ATM access code, screws up the tracking on your VCR, and uses subspace field harmonics to scratch any CDs you attempt to play. It will program your phone auto dial to call only 0898 numbers. This virus will mix antifreeze into your fish tank.
IT WILL CAUSE YOUR TOILET TO FLUSH WHILE YOU ARE SHOWERING. It will drink ALL your beer. FOR GOD'S SAKE, ARE YOU LISTENING?? It will leave dirty underwear on the coffee table when you are expecting company. It will replace your shampoo with Nair and your Nair with Rogaine. If any post from Dorg is given a Thank you in a Windows XP environment, it will leave the toilet seat up and leave your hair dryer plugged in dangerously close to a full bathtub. It will not only remove the forbidden tags from your mattresses and pillows, it will also refill your skim milk with whole milk.
And if you don't immediately thank 2,000 of my posts in the next 20 seconds, your right leg will spasm and shoot straight out in front of you, sending sparks that will ignite the person nearest you.

Drat, you've found me out.
But in fairness, you left out many important symptoms. Since the cat is out of the bag, so to speak, I might as well also state that it makes mice out of men and men out of brown paper bags. It causes all vehicle speedometers within a 3-mile radius to read 10% low, ensuring traffic tickets on a massive scale. Ironically, it also cleverly erases traffic tickets from all known databases, so it's sort of a wash that way. Speaking of wash, it makes your whites whiter but your colors whiter too, except for yellow, which sort of turns purple for some reason (we're still working out the kinks). It turns all your right shoes into left shoes, left gloves into right gloves and mysteriously one out of every four socks goes missing (on average).
It brings dust bunnies to life (with the generally-associated rapid breeding that occurs when too many bunnies are in the same place, making them somewhat like Tribbles). It makes molehills out of mountains. It causes every cat within a mile to meow outside your window...at 2am. It turns cotton candy into wool socks (which helps if you lost socks above, oddly), rock candy into bubble gum and bubble gum into...well...let's just say it's best to avoid the bubble gum. *shifty*
Any other effects are likely due to a copy-cat and are not the work of this original virus.
