to be fair, the coffee was superheated under pressure above the boiling point. The woman in question got third degree burns from the coffee (3rd degree burns means the flesh acctually starts to burn rather than just being damaged by the high temperure.) It was ridiculous that McDonalds heated their coffee that hot, that was the basis for the lawsuit. And the Coffee was not labeled hot, that was one of the changes that was mandated by the lawsuit.

(( To be fair, coffee shouldn't have to be labeled as hot. Someone of that woman's age should know that coffee is hot, because chances are really good that she's had coffee before. Not saying I don't feel bad for her, but I think it was blown out of proportion. ))
