« on: February 10, 2010, 08:11:13 pm »
Well it was just announced I'm getting my second snow day which will lead me into a 4 day weekend.  THAT"S 6 DAYS.  Have a good snow day most of Central and Northern jersey.  Pennsilvania and DC and Virginia too.

I'm in Florida.  Sometimes the grass has frost... and then 8am comes around and it melts again.

Frost?  What's that? Is that that wet stuff that sometimes gets on stuff in the early mornings?  We call that dew.

Cold here in San Diego is when it gets down to 40 degrees Fahrenheit.  Brrrr!  Now that's cold!

Now we just have to wait for the Hawaiians to wake up and talk about cold there...

40 degrees....cold?  yea I suppose it is for the people who are in Cali it is.

The other week we had 4 days in a row where it never got above 8 degrees!  LOL

at night it even went down to -4! :D

I lived in Florida (Sarasota) also and I can remember one year...I think it was 88' or 89', Dec 23rd there was an actual dusting of snow that stayed on the ground for at least 8 hours or so before it melted.

Come live in Quebec.. then you'll know the true meaning of snow storm! ;)

One of our great poete once said. my country is not a country, it's winter (gilles Vigneault)

MY COUNTRY
My country isn't a country, it's winter
my garden isn't a garden, it's the plain
my road isn't a road, it's the snow
    My country isn't a country, it's winter
In the white ceremony
where the snow is married to the wind
in this land of blizzards
my father had a house built
and I'm going to be true
to his ways, to his example
my guest room will be the one
that you go back to, season after season
to build beside it

My country isn't a country, it's winter
My refrain isn't a refrain, it's a gust of wind
My house isn't my house, it's the winter cold
    My country isn't a country, it's winter
About my solitary country
I cry out before I am silenced
to everyone on earth
my house is your house
inside my four walls of ice
I put my time and my space
to prepare the fire, the place
for the people of the horizon
and the people are of my race
My country isn't a country, it's winter
my garden isn't a garden, it's the plain
my road isn't a road, it's the snow
    My country isn't a country, it's winter
My country isn't a country, it's the contrary
of a country that was neither land nor nation
My song isn't a song, it's my life
It's for you that I want to possess my winters
(translation originally by Robert S. Richmond, with very extensive corrections by June-Etta Chenard, a Canadian who is fluent in both languages. June-Etta can also sing "Mon Pays" and did at my workshop at the FGC Gathering in 2000. Thanks, June-Etta!)

Original french text, for some reason, the word text cleaner wont clean it properly and the forum trunks it.

Here's the actual song with a video.
