This reminds me of a Man or Astroman concert I went to a while ago.  They're a nerdcore surfer punk band best known for their experimental ectronic instuments and obsession with Vans de Graff static electricity generators.  At the end of the show they fired up a machine much like that one and essentially electrocuted themselves for a finale.  Awesome show!
