They seriously need to hire me as a voice actor...

I have Tony Jay's voice down solid from KQ6 when he was the Gates of Death.

Was there a King's Quest VIII?  I vaguely remember VII coming out...

*surfs around on the site some more*

ahhh, makes sense now, behold:

"KQIX: "Every Cloak Has A Silver Lining" is a work of fan fiction, commonly known as "fanfic". It is based on the immensely popular King's Quest® series of computer games, which are wholly Copyright © 1979-2005 Sierra Entertainment, Inc. It is neither endorsed by Sierra Entertainment, nor will it be commercially published. Names of King's Quest® characters, locations, and all other related elements of the "official" King's Quest® episodes, which are used in this creative work are wholly Copyright © 1979-2005 Sierra Entertainment, Inc. Don't think there was a Kings Quest VIII. They're just making it IX to be safe.

King's Quest VIII was called the "mask of eternity", and it wasn't very good and marked the end of the series. IX is indeed the fanfic, but seems to have Roberta Williams blessing on it.

Yea, KQ8 was a major low point in the series.  I couldn't even finish it due to a bug with my saves.  This game does indeed look great.  The graphics look nice.  Much better then what I've come to expect from fan projects.  The music isn't all that bad either.  My only real complaint with the music is the quality.  It sounds like the composer over sampled it.  It might just be the mp3 encoding tho.  I'd love to hear them encoded with ogg.

Well it looks like this game will never be released now.  Vivendi has requesting that the KQIX team stop working on the project.  So the KQIX team did.

Taken from their site.

On September 30th, 2005, we received a letter from Vivendi Universal Games, Inc. (a.k.a. Sierra Entertainment) requesting that we cease and desist any further development of KQIX. We always knew this might happen and as stated previously, we are completely willing to comply with Vivendi's request as they are the legal owners of the King's Quest trademark. As a result, we are obligated to stop all production on KQIX.

Personally I prefered the "So You Want To Be A Hero" (later to be known as Hero Quest) games over King's Quest, but to each their own I suppose.

So do I, but nearly all those Quest games were a lot of fun to play.

Actually it was "Quest for Glory: So you want to be a hero?"

I stand corrected, you're right.  The first version was the best, even though it didn't look as pretty it allowed for your own typed input rather than offering multiple-choice dialogue tree conversations like the later version did.
