Monk/Bard is like dream build really, shortly followed by monk/sorc. i've yet to find a dm that would grant me a monk/bard character tho... i even tried bribing my husband *cries*

Well, Monk/Bard is kind of impossible, no?  Bards cannot be Lawful, Monks can't be anything but.  At the very least you'd lose any chance to progress further in one class or another - more likely, you'd lose any benefits the other class gave you - all your wisdom-based benefits, if your second class were bard, or bardsong and magic, if your second class were Monk.

And goodness knows, if bribing your husband doesn't work, you're probably stuck. *L*

yeah, for d'nd kind of a no go, but doable in RM, or Gurps, or a few others... not MERPS tho.. *thinks* but since lately everything PnP is 3.5e i'm stuck with a bard/d.a. teifling... who gets tortured a lot... makes for good RP tho! *ponders what horrible thing to cook for the GM at her next session*

I remember this one player Tordec who started off his character Perry as a little boy and a bard, NG upon creation.  In the beginning he started off as a squire-type character for a knight, the little kid who inspired hope and courage in those around him, whose wee weeping eyes brought barbarian rages and standing rallies galore.  Then as he grew older, his mentor knight started pounding into him the ways of law and honor, alongside rigorous martial training so that he became LG by around 16-17 or so, whereupon he became a knight himself.

So far the only logical progression of bard->paladin I've seen thus far.

Paladin/Bard. Need I say more?

EW....The thought scares me...

Actually, that's a lie. The thought makes -me- laugh..

Rhynn is cringing on the second floor of my brain.

Just because Your class doesn't say Paladin/Bard, doesn't mean you can't rp like one

and THAT's Why Rhynn cringes *grins*

AS for the Monk/Bard, its possible in NWN, just not Layo. You can alternate levels but you have to shift alignments in between each level that you take one of the classes. So you could go 5 monk, switch to non-lawful. Then go 5 bard. Then switch back to lawful and repeat. RP wise and logically its stupid and impossible, but mechanics wise that is how it works in NWN.

Its the same for the Paladin/Bard too... although the character described by Lonnarin sounds like a pretty nifty character.

Another combo I've wanted to try was a Bard/Weapon Master/Duelist. I thought that would be pretty nifty as well.

Take all your levels as bard, then as monk. You retain all abilities of a bard if you become lawful. So no worries!

    Wizard/Dwarven Defender. Just wow.

It can be disabled, and on PR based arena worlds all rulesets are disabled as far as alignment restriction, etc... you just aren't 'worth' as much for the team as you're overpowered.

You want to see class balancing... look at BoW PRs.

My 5 Bard/16 Pally/ 19 PM, Paco Pico Piedra... he's something else but he's got a 1.3 PR which basically makes him kinda-sorta useful to the team... so it ends up being better to play... let's say a pure ranger that gets more points per kill.  Though with 82 AC, 63 AB, 47 DC dev crit, and PM immunities.. well sometimes it's nice not to die and kill a whole lot in the process.

As you can tell, this is one of those aforementioned "I'm ashamed of builds", and clearly is meant to play with the same level of RP intensity I would give to Tetris.

I got a few idea's that I haven't tested out yet. one of them is Sorceress/palemaster/red dragon disciple. Looks great haven't tested it yet thought.
the next one is an idea i got wich is Fighter/druid. with focus on weapons and animal summoning to help out when needed. You might even go to weapon master with this build.
I have to try these builds out in single player once, should be interesting. I was also thinking of a druid/sorcerer build. would be interesting to.

hmmm I realy need to take some time to test my idea's in single player.

    Half Giant - Bard/Skald

and we do... or did have one!

    ;)

Personally I'd like to see the crit an Epic Half Giant Ranger could pull off against a favored enemy with Bane of Enemies and a heavily buffed Scythe or Mercurial Longsword... but thats just me maybe.

Actually I did once play a Half-Giant Barbarian/Bard on another server.  He did fairly well though I didn't level him too far.  His focus was primarilly in barbarian at first and then began leaning more toward bard as he progressed.  Ah...but the fun RP of a half-giant writing poetry...that was just priceless.  Long live Vogon Jeltz!

    ;)

I have a bio (and levelling plan) written up for a Half-Giant Rogue, but haven't submitted it yet because 1) I'm not actively playing right now, and B) I don't qualify for a CN charatcer yet, which is kind of required by the background.

Another Great Action Power Build would be:

RDD 10 PAL 7 Sorc 23.  Great saves, AC (divine sheild), GREAT BUFFS...   an unstoppable force.

    ...

hmm.. and I havent even got into the Pale Master Bard combinations..   *smiles*

You want sickeneningly high AC?  Try Bard 10 - RDD 10 - Pale Master 20.  With a DEX of 14 (+2), Tumble 40 (+8), and Armor Skin (+2), it has a naked AC of 38, due to the RDD (+4) and PM (+12) bonuses.  Plus, you can still wear medium armor and use a shield, if you want, for up to another +8 base AC.  Jack up STR, and you can get Devastating Critical as early as level 24.  The Pale Master abilities are mostly pointless (unless you're going against something with high AC, low touch AC, and pathetic Fort saves), but the immunities and AC bonuses are great.
