What about the reverse?
I always envisioned some poor 300 year old farmer who touched the bindstone as a child on a dare. Who when he got older and more feeble, was cursed with uncanny longetivity for always rolling 100s. No matter how many heart attacks, farm accidents, suicide attempts, diseases or stabbings, he just can't die. Like Stan's(Billy's) Grandfather from Southpark. Every few minutes he would nod off, keel over and vanish, only to curse the gods and hobble back to his house from the bindstone.
That would make an interesting quest. Escort this bitter old codger to one of the Bloodwells so he can finally find peace. Kind of like Groundhog's Day meets Throw Momma from the Train.
Or maybe you'd have to make him gain some levels so he'd have a chance at cutting soul strands! At levels 1-3 there's a zero% chance. You'd have to take him kobold stick fetching and point of interest viewing and then set him loose on an epic battle against a tribe of orcs who killed him again, and again, and again, and he kept baring his gums in rage and charging. I think at some point before he died, the orcs would be in awe of him and revere him as the elder too tough for death. And much to his dismay they would strap him to a throne and seek his angry cormudgeon wisdom.
