    Depends on the purpose. Local if it is for mass consumption, foreign (or one of the more expensive locals) if one is enjoying one or a few beers over a good discussion or meal.

    Id have to go for Porter. (Some old pubs (bars) in the UK have a sign that reads 'Licenced for the purveyance of Fine Ales, Wines and Porter, and I even the believe the wording of their licence to sell alcohol contains those words) .
