Title: New Version Online
Post by: Leanthar on July 19, 2004, 03:39:00 pm
All servers are updated (East Server is still down)
+ CNR fixes (basically the gum tree and a central server script fix) + Quest fixes (I think all quests are working properly now) + Vendor Updates (Forsettii--if your fixes do not work, just bring up .301--its already on the servers) + Teleporting is cheaper + Player house keys are updated on all servers.  If they do not work then PoB needs to take a look at his code. + Furniture Vendor now sells everything on the servers + Crafting vendor in Hlint carries pocket fishing pole + Layo XP Wand will not duplicate now + Encounter tweaks
  Many, many other fixes
  -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the last update (barring an emergency fix by forsettii or ghost) for about 21 days.  I am on vacation! :)

Ok I am going to take a few minutes an make a complete list of the Changes in Version 302a, b and c.  Please note that these are only for the West Server at the moment.  I need to Download the Central and East and well I have been running out of time lately.

CHANGES IN WEST ONLY AT THIS POINT!!!!!

+ Fixed the Death Token Issue with the Bindstones - now reads proper number.
+ Fixed the PK Token Issue with the Bindstones - now reads proper number.
+ Fixed the Death Token Issues when using the DM Wand.  (I still need to work with the Wand itself)
+ Removed 5 scripts so Items do not spontaniously appear in peoples packs. (I moved the scripts around so they work properly
+ Fixed the Problem with RESPAWNING not using the proper XP Chart.
+ Renamed Crystal Rod IV
+ Fixed a Tag / Reserf Issue with the Platinum Chain Shirt
+ I think I fixed the problem with logging in Dead and gaining a Death Token.
+ Fixed the Issue with Feeding Chicken and Cows to gain Milk and Eggs.
+ Reworked Vendor System to not use the standard Merchant system created a custom version that spawns the store on the first conversation with the merchant.  Done to reduce module load time and also size of the Main Module dropped 3.5 Megs.  Also you do not have to update all of the stores in the module after every change.
+ Worked with Player Vendors enought to figure out they are really broke.  Made it so you can buy and sell from your Player vendor for 1 gold.  Also rescaled them so that they would actually go from 80 - 200% for selling purposes.  (Please note I know they are still broke but this had to be done to fix and exploit)

If you have any questions ask I will try to answer the best I can.

New Version Online, 8/19/2004 - A big thank you to both Forsettii and Ghost, they put in a lot of long hours for this update.
I would like to thank Forsettii for keeping up with the bugs while I was on vacation.
I would also like to thank Ozy for redoing two cities; he has three more on his plate at this time.
There are three quick downloads that you need to grab (patches for this version).  layonara_v2.rar (tlk file that goes in your tlk directory), LAYOV2_2DA_V3.rar (2da patch that goes in your hak directory), LAYOV2_ART_V2.rar (art update for some of the custom stuff and it goes in your hak directory).
This is a pretty major update and our focus for this update was to do something for the players.
  - Respawn penalties do not happen now until 4th level, it was 3rd
- Loot drops have been improved slightly.  We will see how this goes and we may up it more later
- XP gained for kills has been increased fairly significantly (went from 18xp per CR to 32 per CR).  This means players will not grind quite so much and it should be a little more fun now, I hope.
- XP gained by groups now has NO penalty at all.  So group up, there is no reason not to now
- Thirst/Hunger timer has been adjusted upwards.  It will be quite a bit better now
- The new death system is in place.  You no longer need to use diamonds to resurrect people.  We had a lot of complaints of how diamonds for ress/raise was unfair since we protect them due to their enchanting ability.  See this link for details  http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=4276&start=1 (http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=4276&start=1)
- Player housing on Central should be fixed now. And that means keys should work on all servers again.  Those players that had houses on central you will be compensated since you need to buy them again.  Give me a chance to go knock on all of the doors first though or you will not be able to purchase them yet!!
- Port Hampshire and Pranzis have been rebuilt (thank you ozy).  We may have a few missing transitions please let me know
- Large crates for house furniture now stores 30 items (normal crates are 10).  If you already have a large crate you need to turn it in to a deed and then back in to a crate to get the update
- Six new Prestige Classes!  Battlerager, Spellsword, Undead Slayer, Bear Warrior, Skald, and Sacred fist.  See this link for details http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=4346&posts=9 (http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=4346&posts=9)
- Druids have two new Shapechange feats
- Farmer Part has moved to Thalos river but low-and-behold he is attacked by scarecrows again, the poor guy.  He is placed now.
- There are five new quests added to central, so they are mid level quests
- Quest rewards have been updated to reflect V2, 70% now give more xp and/or gold, 10% give less, and 20% are unchanged
- Player Vendors now have 0% commission (yes, that is right 0%) but they charge 5gp per in game day (but 0% commission!).  This system is still being worked on and will change more as time goes on.
- Some area encounters have change, be warned.  We will do this from time to time so that the world feels like it changes over time.  The goblin house on central is now owned by Death Gate goblins.
- CNR changes and bug fixes (quite a lot)
- Cloth armor in CNR now
- I have adjusted some save routines in the hopes of reducing lag and perhaps making the server a little more stable
- Quite a lot of bug fixes
  Enjoy!
Final note:  We hope to do updates on Thursdays from this point forward, perhaps weekly but most likely bi-weekly.  I am spending the next few weeks working on the East Server so that we can get that one up as well.  We will work on bugs as well.

New Version Online, 8/20/2004 - 3:20pm PST
  - Fixed a few bugs from yesterdays update (soul stone, saving times, saving when resting, other minor things)
This should make things pretty smooth for this weekend or until we update again.

New Version Online as of 3:35pm PST

There is a new hak pak (2da) and a new tlk for this update.  Be sure to unzip them!
layov2_2da_v4.rar is the 2da update and it goes in your nwn\\hak directory
layonara_v3.rar is the tlk update and it goes in your nwn\\tlk directory

  -          We have adjusted the saving location time again, it is now 12 seconds, it was a lot longer.  This should help quite a bit. -          When you rest now (even a failed rest) your server and your location are marked, as well as your character is saved.  Use this just before you log out or when you want to save something on your character -          Added a new quest on the west at Casterly Castle -          A few quest bug fixes, including Ronus, and the central server bugs -          CNR updates and bug fixes.  There is now a way to make poison permanent on items (higher skill level though) -          Lorindar and North Point have been redone (tks ozy) -          Soul Stones should now work, please let us know -          Deity Shields are now customizable (or should be) -          Customization has been dropped in price by 50%, it is much cheaper now so start using it more (hehehe) -          The server status page should now keep track of everybody, we fixed the deity, special symbol problem.  At least that is what we think the problem was.  Thanks for the help on this IDii. -          You can now convert an item that you have in to a holy symbol.  The better the item the more powerful the holy symbol.  Holy symbols are considered divine focus in comparison to the component chart.  Be warned, the old item will be deleted and an amulet will be created.  Sorry, we could not do it to be the same type of item as that would cause us to create 100’s of items in the palette.  Just not good. -          We had people ask us to reevaluate stoneskin, they did not think it was right for diamonds to be the component.  While I tend to disagree with this I wanted to see what we could do to make it balanced and fair.  As such we have changed it to the following.
o       The +1 on the DR goes up every 4 levels.  This is slightly faster than creatures get their updates on weapons so you will have a slight advantage over the monsters still.
o       The Soak of Stoneskin starts at 5 and goes up to 10 at level 15
o       The component for this spell is now topaz dust.  This is a lot easier to find and harvest
So at level 9--the minimum level to cast it-- its +2/5 soak, at level 12 its +3/5, at level 15 its +3/10, at level 16 its +4/10, and at level 20 its +5/10.

At this time we have not changed greater stoneskin and we are thinking it may not be changed at all.  It is extremely powerful so I think it should need a diamond (as per D&D rules), and it is castable only by a druid and castable only on self.  My current thinking is it will remain as is but who knows.

  Nothing else changed.

New Version Online as of 10:05am PST
This is a different sort of update.  I have spent a number of hours converting part of the world (PC's tracking mainly) over to a new persistence method.  It should help to reduce lag a fair amount.  I have also spent a number of hours putting in a new system that will help with the lag caused by the Bioware DB, this should help with the lag some.
I am hoping this will help with stability issues as well.
I need to test this for a few days to make sure these new systems are working.  Once I see that they are I will then start to do more bug fixes.  This is a pretty major overhaul and touches about 60% of our scripts out there so I hope things go smooth.  I have tested it on my end but that is no in a MP/PW environment.
  --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ALL players will start in the forest of summons since we are changing over to this new persistence.  Once you reach Hlint please rest, you do not need to log out, but you should rest.  Once you reach Hlint and rest you will be on the new persistence system, make sure you bind again, that is important as well.
DO NOT SELL TO THE VENDORS IN MEMORY LANE!!!  GM's please try to be available to help players out and watch for players that may sell to these vendors (not everybody reads these messages/posts after all).
  I think that is it.

As of 2:20pm PST
  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
+ Updated Hide Rack to fix Dire Tiger?
+ Updated Tinker Furnace
+ Updated Ingots for Weight
+ Changed the Add Property Code to get ready for Silver and Titanium Weapons
+ Added new Creature Cockatrice that gives Feathers
+ Updated Alchemy Table for new items to create Visual Effects for weapons and update Vials
+ Updated Carpenter (lesser and Greater Bench)
+ Added new Weapons for Woodworking.
+ Updated the way Mail is taken from older Quest Mail Givers
+ Now giving 50 gold per piece of Mail
+ Fixed Talon and Jasmine to take 20 items (Using new system)
+ Added Level Restrictions on Kit and Ronus since they give items.
+ Added New Contract system and 4 Contract Givers (Repeatable Quest Contract System - Thanks Yosemite Sam)
+ Loot Drops have been increased a significant amount
+ 25+ areas around Hlint are a little easier now.  You will not be quite so swarmed in many of them.
+ Oxen should be working again
+ Soul Stones are in all nature and temple stores and they should be working as designed now
+ Added a lot of basic NPC’s for all races (Thanks Qui_Z)
+ Rune of Dispelling is now on all magical vendors.  Use it to discontinue the Sanctuary Spell.  Best we can do, sorry.
+ LOTS of other fixes and tweaks.

A few things of note:
1)  The guild system is still broken. I need to decide what to do with it.  So for now I highly suggest you hold of on doing guild activities until I can get the system updated and/or fixed.
2)  Player housing keys are still messed up.  I have a possible fix in there but I am not very hopeful on it.  I have somebody working on a new key system but that is ways off.  VERY sorry for the hassle on this. L

As of 11:06am PST
+ Everything submitted by GM’s has been imported; I don’t think I missed anything
+ Modifying of equipment is now even cheaper
+ Slightly adjusted loot drops
+ House keys should be fixed.  I HOPE
+ Holy Symbols should be able to be crated on the west server now
+ Other bugs have been fixed
+ A few CNR tweaks
+ We have removed the automatic “on activate” switch from the modules.  Some things may not “activate” if you use them, let us know what they are and we will get them fixed up.  I think this switch was causing a lot of weird bugs, but I could be wrong.
+ Guild system is now cross server persistent.  But this requires everybody that had a guild to recreate the guild.  You will be given the 75,000 gold that it takes to create the guild, just ask a GM.  You do not need to buy your guild houses again, nothing has changed with them.  You no longer need to “claim” your guild hall.  We will still have a problem with the guild book targeting but that is on our list of things to get fixed.  If you fight with it long enough it will work for you.  Also, only two guilds have actually asked me to build them a guild hall.  If you want a guild hall you need to make sure your guild is approved and tell me where you want the guild hall (within reason).  The XP reward has been adjusted, the GP dues have been adjusted, and the interest rate on the guild bank has been adjusted.

Don’t everybody log in at one time; remember slow and easy for the first 10 minutes or so.

+ Forsettii has tried to fix the soul stone issue.  You can now purchase the new soul stone (get rid of the old one, give it to a GM for 1500gp back).  Purchase the new one, and also purchase the eye (both are on temple and nature stores).  Use the eye on a person to see if they have a soul stone attuned to their soul before you cast ress or raise.  If they do then the person that you cast on will take the penalty.  If they do not then the caster will take the penalty.
+ Tried to fix some possible DB issues on Central but I am not so sure what I fixed was the root of the problem.  If it was then hunger and thrist and the cold system should be working again as well as the components system.
Sorry for the quest that I interrupted, it has been a busy RL day and I have to leave soon so it had to be now or we would not be able to use Ress/Raise all weekend and I didn't think that was a good idea.
Forsettii has tested the system as best he can in a non-pw environment, but we think it is working.
Title: RE: New Version Online

As of 2:00pm PST
+ Fixed the Ress/Raise bug where you were logging back on dead after these spells are used.
+ Updated two plot areas to reflect plot happenings
+ Made a portal in the forest of summons that should return you to your last server or at the very least to hlint.  If you for some reason do not jump to your last location (and that is on another server) try to use the portal to jump to that other server.  If for some reason you can not get out of the forest of summons jump to the "west server" and it will put you in hlint.
Please log in slowly, spread it out over 15 minutes.

As of 1:20pm PST
+ Updated Mining Code to stop unequiping Shield.  + Updated Scribing Benches (Added H Boom, Ice Dagger, Camo, Death Armor)  + Updated Alchemy Table (Added 2 more Potions - Rearranged Order)  + Updated a Few Carpentry Recipes
+ A few more CNR fixes, including missing end results.
+ Finished off all of the Spells on the Greater Scribing Bench.   I think every Spell is now craftable.
+ Point Harbor is new, Tks Ozy
+ Traps are redone (they are according to the redesign by 8bit—with elemental rods).  Everybody seemed to think that was the way to go when it was on the forums.
+ Lag should be reduced some more (I hope significantly but time will tell)
+ Housing/Furniture TMI’s should be gone.  This was caused by too many placeables in a house but it should be fixed now.
+ The broken transition in Broken Halls should now be fixed.
+ Kit’s quest is now level 8, it was level 10.
+ Thunderstones are now on crafting merchants
+ The Pack Ox appearance has been changed.  You need to get a new pack ox for the updated appearance.
+ North Fort (central) no longer puts you on the third level of a dungeon. J
+ Shields are no longer unequipped when mining.
+ The portal in forest of summons should be working now.  Please ONLY use this if you are stuck there for some reason and you are NOT a new character (character not player).  Only go to another server if that is where you should have been upon your return.
Title: RE: New Version Online
Post by: Leanthar on October 07, 2004, 03:29:00 pm
A new version will be online when the quest is completed.
+ A few changes to lots of little things.. Heh, sorry.  Just lots of niggly things.
+ CNR enchantments should not stack any more (the enchanting stuff that was not working.  Please let me know!
+ The pack ox will no longer attack.  But you must purchase a new one to get the new AI Ox.
+ Treasure drop was updated to not drop a particular item.
+ Tried to fix the respawning across server bug.
+ There is now a ox merchant and stable boy on the central server at Castle Raxswell
+ Tried to fix a dungeon that was too easy
+ Fixed a treasure drop for an npc (I hope)
+ The portal in the GM area no longer charges (yes, it should work as planned now)
  +  Added/Tweaked some NPC's
  Nothing overly major.....
However, Forsettii and I were talking today and we may have figured out the saving location problem... Let us hope so.  I will try to get it in on the next version.
It sounds like 1.64 is out (do not update if you want to play on Layonara) and we will be working on getting the servers updated for it.  Hopefully in the next update (but no promises).
Title: RE: New Version Online
Post by: Leanthar on October 14, 2004, 02:56:00 pm
As of 3pm PST - 10/14/2004

Please do not log in at one time--spread it out over 10 minutes.

First, this is a significant update and 1.64 I hear has been crashing a few servers out there.  We have looked around and tried to fix most of the problems that have been reported but we may have missed some.  Also, there is a known issue with NWNX2 and 1.64 and since we use NWNX2 we may have problems, if so I will try to work around them.  This could be buggy is what I am saying.

Thank you to GhostWhoWalks who spent many long hours this week converting our custom changes over to 1.64, good job.

+ We are now 1.64 compatible + There is a hak pak update; you need to download the layov2_2da_v5.rar (http://ftp://64.127.106.70/files/layov2_2da_v5.rar) file as well as the layonara_v4.rar (http://ftp://64.127.106.70/files/layonara_v4.rar) (tlk file) before you can play + Optional Music is now in.  Go download the optional music and follow the instructions at the downloads page to install the files—very easy.  If you do not have the music installed and an area is playing music in that package all that will happen is that you just will not hear music.  This would also affect the jukebox music.  The file name is LayoV2Music.rar (http://ftp://64.127.106.70/optional_files/LayoV2Music.rar) . + Player vendors are now gone and I don’t know if/when they will be back.  But you also now have a lens in your inventory that will give you the value of an item; it does not ID the item for you though.  Later we will make it so that it also gives you the level restriction of an item. + Treasure drop rates have been slightly dropped + I have once again optimized things so that lag is not so bad—I hope.  It should also help with saving locations but I am not positive of that either—what was there should have worked 100% of the time, not 85% of the time—silly NWN.  Time will tell. + There is a new EXP table now in place.  If you are level 22 or less there is a chance that you will have gained a level, there is NO WAY you would have lost a level.  If you are level 22 or higher you may have lost a level.  Basically after level 7 we have made easier to level up until level 21, after that it is much more difficult. + Creature XP rewards have been slightly tweaked to fit with the new EXP table + Added a Jukebox in the Wild Surge Inn + Added a Jukebox deed and item for player housing + Added a baking crafting area in Lannisport.  That means that you can now bake area in Hlint, Krandor, and Lannisport (on the west server).  You can also bake in Lorindar, Tibum, and North Point on the Central Server. + Added wizard tower crafting areas in Thalos River, and Greywatch Tower.  That means you can now enchant in Morakens, Thalos River, Greywatch (on the west server).  You can also Enchant at Lookout Tower and Grey Watch Tower on Central. +  5 new generic quest type areas are in (tks Qui_z) – Castle, Dungeon, Plane of Chaos, Plane of Law, Void + Added a few new creatures (tks Juste) +  The Journal and various text messages have been given a once over and improved (the mistakes removed), (tks Zizz) +  Now if you hit a rock (while mining) without a pick axe or weapon (bare hands) you will take 1-2 points of damage * your level.  If you hit a rock 10 times (while mining) with a weapon (not a pick axe) it will be destroyed.  The weapon is unequipped for you so you really have to be trying to break your weapon for it to happen. + The citadel in Lar is now in. + Turned Debug messages back on for respawning.  If you have a cross server respawn problem there are three lines of debug code that I need to know exactly what they say.  I can hopefully track down the problem at that time.

+ Bioware broke the basic casting and ability of creatures in 1.64.  We have a work around that should “fix” this until 1.65.
+ Fixed a Raise/Ress XP bug
+ Fixed a transition problem in Lar

Sorry for all of the ups and downs over the past 1 1/2 hours.  I was trying to fix a web/in-game issue and could not coordinate it.  At this time I give up (ie I did not get it fixed).  Servers are up.

+ CNR Updates:
All actions are now cleared when your pickaxe breaks.  This means you will not take damage unless you do something on   purpose.
Respawn times for everything in CNR have been adjusted.
+ Thanks to Forsettii the on_client_enter function has been greatly enhanced.  This should help to keep the log in spikes down as well as perhaps fix the cross server crashes that have been occuring.  It is now far more efficient.
+  Forsettii also tweaked the on_death script and made it a little more efficient.
+  Made a few tweaks in areas to help lag spikes.
+  We have made a change with the way the Server Status page and the SQL DB work.  If I didn’t break it it should be far more efficient and will not continue to cause a slight lag issue.  If I DID break it then it will remain broken until I can get a new version online (at least a week.)
+  Two Central Server Dungeons have been reworked and are now more like a dungeon in PnP (to a degree at least).  Thanks Ozy
+  Added more creatures
+  Added Dark Elf Male Clerics
+  Modified a few areas to be a little tougher and/or more unique in a fashion
+  Modified a few CNR resource areas
+  I have made a change on the system where you maps of areas will be displayed even across server reboots.  However due to the NWN nature (not supporting PW’s) this can be exploited.  If I see this happening (exploiting) I will rip out the code.  I did this to help you guys and gals and I hope people do not exploit it, if they do the code will be ripped out and it will not be replaced.  I am very serious about this one everybody.

Please make sure everybody does not log in at one time.  Spread out the login’s across a 15 minute time period.

New Version Online as of 1:05pm PST

You need to download the 2da hakpak (it is a new one as of 20 minutes ago), the file name is Layov2_2da_v6.rar and is only 212k.
This is the first pass at trying to get a working economy; more will be coming as we can get to it.  GM’s will also be running quests that will try to get some of the excess gold out of the economy, just a heads up.
+ CNR and other prices are now adjusted to sell much lower at pawn shops + XP for creatures have been adjusted downwards—people are leveling too fast right now + GP from creature drops has been adjusted down slightly, not very much though + Teleports for houses now cost 2500gp instead of 1400gp + Frindahl Fortress is now in on Central + Characters now auto save when a Quest Action is performed (including completion) + We hope Quivers now work +  Alchemy table should read better +  Dire Tiger armor on tailoring dummy has been fixed +  Greater Weapons Anvil should now read Shafts of Mahogony +  Jewelry benches will now use all tools +  Dwarven Ale Head has been added. + At least 60 other various bug fixes that were reported

I have gone through and adjusted the prices of everything that has been reported to be incorrect so far.  I think I have all of those reported and a few that were not.  I tried to get them as close as possible, not sure if I can do much more on some of them.  The gem setters may be incorrectly priced still but I need to speak to Forsettii about that first.  A few other things looked a little odd to me but I need to speak to both Forsettii and Ghost before touching them.  This version should have prices a lot better on most of the items.  I need you guys/gals to continue to report things that are way off (not just a little off).  Thank you and I'm sorry for the hassle of the prices during the change over, it will take some time to get them right.

This is the last update today.  Sorry for doing this on a Saturday but I figured it was best to try and get things back to close to normal for items.  I think I have them all this time, but then I thought I did last time.  Thanks for your posts Morvis, they helped a lot.
I am also taking this opportunity to update NWNX/APS, I thought I was running the latest but I'm not.  I would like to thank Orth for helping out with this and other SQL improvements, much much appreciated.
I think things will be back to normal after this update, at least I hope.  If not we will get them on the next update but I doubt that will be this weekend.

As of 11am PST (11/18/2004)
  + A few vendor changes
+ Some code changes, nothing overly major
+ Spellgard is on the west (tks Qui_z).  It is NOT finished at all (vendors etc. etc.) but it is at least rechable
+ Added more plot areas on west and east.  Ready for the weekend plot quest finally.
+ Lots of additions and changes to East server (getting closer now)

As of some time this afternoon (after the current quest is completed), 11/19/2004
+ Found a MAJOR memory leak and I think it may be fixed now.  We will see tonight when we have more people on.  Thank you to Orth for helping me find this beast. + Graveyard Dirt is now placed.  Sorry all, somehow I missed getting it placed.  It is placed now on West and Central. + Ships will now travel to the Forsaken Island (Central Server) and Voltrex (east server--though the east server is still down for a bit). + Another update for the plot quest this weekend + A quest exploit should be fixed.  A note on this exploit.  I know of two other people that exploited this quest bug (but I have no proof lucky for the both of you)--but you are now being watched.  I do not tolerate, in any way shape or form, exploits of this nature.  It shows a total lack of respect for the world, other players, and the community as a whole.  I don't want people of that kind on this server.  Exploiting is a bannable offense.

New Version Online as of 5:20pm PST on 11/24/2004

+ Ress/Raise should now take the correct XP from caster when target does not have a soul stone. + Made the soul stone slightly cheaper to purchase as well as the level requirement on it is lower. + Fixed a few uncraftable CNR items (chain stuff mainly). + Flame Weapon is now at level 3 when crafting it—it was bugged and was being crafted at 17th level. + Fixed an issue with a longbow that was marked as Elf only. + A few other bugs and tweaks, including a few area encounters and placements.
+ A few dungeons have been modified and are ready to go on East (tks ozy). + Imported more creatures in to all three modules (tks Juste). + Made another major change in the attempt to control the lag and lag spikes.  I am thinking that for the most part the lag spikes caused by save/update code routines should be gone.  I have changed the way characters are saved and the way the web is updated to not be in a long while loop but rather it is fired off by the individual PC itself.  Lets see how this works, it should but I don’t know for sure.
Thank you to Orth for helping me find a few issues as well as his continued support on SQL.

New Version Online as of 12:35pm PST, 12/10/2004

This is a pretty major update today so bare with me if we have a few bumps that I need to work out this afternoon and/or if I have to revert back to an older version for the weekend.  + Further lag optimization.  This is a major one as some important code was touched. + Jumping to other servers should not put you in the wrong location now.  This is another major one as once again some important code was touched.  I hope I did not mess anything up. + Creatures have been updated and more balanced for all servers.  Thank you Pankoki + Casting creatures of higher than 6th level now have a chance to spawn with spells already casted on them (buffed etc.).  Beware + Many areas have been further balanced (especially on the central server).  Beware + A few dungeons have been updated. Beware.  Thank you Ozy + Frindahl Fortress (central server) has been further balanced to meet with the central server levels (ie.  Made easier) + An exploit in one of our core systems should now be fixed. + You must now have the use poison feat in order to apply poison to an item now.  It was being abused before so I went this path. + All normal racial NPC’s made are now in all modules + Some potions were removed from stores.  Players can still make them. + Divine Power no longer gives extra attacks when casted.  However all other bonuses from this spell (which is a lot) remain as they were before.  If this spell is not balanced after this I will degrade the other bonuses slightly.  I think this may be enough though. + Stoneskin is now fixed.  Before it would not do more than +1, now it does. + Some epic spells will now feed on the casters lifeforce as per PnP rules.  For some reason Bioware had this turned off, this is now turned back on. + Adjusted nugget to ingot crafting/conversion costs on some minerals. + Some resources are now better protected. + Housing Furniture (placeables) now have better names and descriptions.  Turn your current furniture in to a deed and then replace the deed to see the updates.  Thank you Rhizome. + Lots of other various bugs have been fixed. + All known Quest GM items, npc’s, and creatures are in—at least that I know of at this time. + A few CNR fixes. + CNR Additions:  Here we go. J
+ Silver Enhancements and Titanium Enhancements are back in (under alchemy): Silver gives weapons bonus damage to Undead and Shapechangers, Titanium gives weapons bonus damage to Outsiders and Elementals. + 36 new items are now in CNR.  I went through the race/class thread and took out what I could then adjusted a few to make them more balanced for Layonara.  Not all are in but quite a lot are, here they are:    Cloak of Mystery, Mirror of True Reflection, Staff of Elements, Claws of the Lich, Circlet of the Confidante, Belt of the Battle Mage, Cloak of Transmutation, Staff of Contingent Summons, Noble Suit of Comfort, Royal Ball Gown, Coat of Arms +1, Blad eof the Dragonslayer, Garb of the Made Man, Dwarven Throwing Axe, Hood of Shadows, Boots of the arachnea, Staff of Taming, Staff of the Badger, Staff of the Woods, Staff of the Sun, Staff of the Oak Heart, Staff of the Forest, Black Staff of Balance, Gloves of Mischief, Gloves of the Tiger, Boots of the Tiger, Bow of Close Range, Gnomish Repeating Crossbow, Club of Bloodiness, Shoes of the Swift, Leather of the Ogre, Gnomish Lenses, Bane of the Orc, Orcish Dwarf Razor, Orcish Bane of the Elf, Helm of the Guard

A special thanks to Pankoki on this update.  He helped me out a lot on the creatures and the CNR updates.

New Version Online as of 4:05pm PST (12/16/2004)

Servers are now at version 1.65 so go update your client before logging in.  There is also a hak pak and tlk update, please download LAYOV2_2DA_V7.RAR and Layonara_v5 (TLK file) under Downloads/Latest Files (above).    Another fairly large update on this one.  I have received a lot of help from Orth, G-452, Aryn and Dwyvyrn this week, thank you to each of you.

+  There is now a Remembering Orb at the temple and nature stores.  Use the Orb to save the location of your character.  It is not required but many players wanted an item to be able to do this so that they did not need to rest. + Gem and Wand of Camouflage is now craftable + Silver IV and Titanium IV is now craftable + Dwarven Throwing Axes and CNR arrows should now stack when they are crafted.  Please let me know if this is indeed fixed.
+ There are now more drinks that are craftable and they should be working with the hunger/thirst system + All traps are craftable again.  I tried to make the recipes balanced but at the same time require a good amount of resources for higher level traps.  Traps used to be heavily exploited and I hope that does not happen again or I will remove them permanently. + A few other CNR fixes + I have in place the beginning of a new travel system that I think adds realism as well as makes sense.  I need feedback on these systems.  Let me know if they are okay or if they are worth the effort etc.  Only a few areas have them in place and to put them in other places it will take about two full days of work.  If they are liked and/or it is worth the effort I will put them in other places (ie the rest of the world).
++ Road Travel System – This system in only in place around the Hlint areas.  What it does is increase your travel rate when you are on a road.
++ Swamp Travel System – This system is only in place in The High Moors.  What it does is decrease your travel rate when you are in the waters and mud.
+ Jumping to Areas and/or servers should now be a little more reliable (I hope) + Made a few more memory optimizations + A few dialog updates

Just a small patch/fix type version.

+ Remembering orb should now work. + Fixed a few quest drops problems. + Adjusted the travel system due to some feedback. + Added some armor for future use in cnr and quest rewards, thank you Dwyvyrn. + Ever so slightly adjusted high and unique loot drops.

I had to revert us back to Layonara_v4 of the TLK file.  If you deleted it before then please make sure you download it again, if you did not delete it then you are fine with the file that you have.
+ Imported Gnomish Machine + Fixed brewerskeg receipes + a few other minor fixes that I am drawing a blank on

New Version Online as of 10:30am PST, 12/30/2004

This is a major update so please read through the changes.  I would like to thank Orth, Pankoki, Aryn, Ozy, Qui_z, and G-452 for their help over the past few weeks.  With their assistance this turned out to be a significant final update of the year.

I also want to thank Ghost and Forsettii for all of their help with V2 over the past year, without you two this would NEVER have happened.  It is on this day that Forsettii and I started work on this massive V2 project—Ghost joined us a few months later—thank you to both of you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Healing Kits and Cure/Heal Potions are no longer the nwn defaults.  I had to change healing kits due to various issues, one of them being that it was not even remotely close to PnP and that they were being abused to a degree.  But to change the healing kits I also had to change the way cure and heal potions worked.  This has been done and tested.  Why did I have to change the healing kits you ask?  1)  They could be used in combat and basically nullify the use of potions and such—that is just silly.  2)  They did additional healing (10 or 20) depending on the situation (combat or not combat) and it did not relate to your characters skill at all, it was just additional healing—no idea why Bioware went that route but they did.  3)  In PnP they are much more limited than they are even now (after this change) and I needed to bring them to be a little closer at least.  4)  And all of this was hardcoded in to the system and will not allow us to change the default behavior—sadly.  Why did I have to change Cure/Heal potions you ask?  Basically with healing kits not being able to be used in combat any longer characters needed a way to be able to heal other characters in game.  The normal potions do not allow this (for some strange hard coded reason) so I had to go around the system yet again in order to make it so that potions of this type can be used for the reason that they are intended to be used.  Later I may do a hak pak update in order to change their graphics but I did not think it was necessary at this point in time.  Healing Kits may now only be used when not in combat, you must also be standing close to your target.  When they are used you must make a check (D20+Healskill+healkitbonus VS DC 15).  If that is passed then the target is cured of all poison and disease as well as healed the same amount of your healskill+healkitbonus.  So if you are using a healingkit +3 and your heal skill is 8 you would heal your target for 11 points.  The new healing kits have a max stack size of 7.  Potions of Curing and Healing now require you to click on a target in order to heal them, before they were self use only.  Cure Light does 1d8+1, Cure Moderate does 1d10+1, Cure Serious does 2d8+2, Cure Critical does 3d8+3, Heal does 30-100 points of healing.  The new potions have a max stack size of 7.

Your current heal/cure potions and heal kits will still work as before, but they will no longer be available in stores nor are they craftable.

We have made a sweeping change to crafted armor.  We have made it so that there is a lot more variety on the mid to higher levels, as well as making them better overall.  Sadly, due to the way NWN bases things some of the level reqs have changed—but it also means the armor has gotten better overall, with more options through all of the materials and armor pieces.

The following is a breakdown based on fullplate of each type (chain etc. are not the same reqs but they have also been improved/modified).  There are relatively few changes in those first two categories SPECIFICALLY to keep the reqs down and manageable for the players.  Here are the fullplate level reqs by type:
Copper 5  Bronze 9  Iron 12  Platinum 15  Adamantium 18  Cobalt 21  Mithril 28  Enchanted Mithril 36   I know this looks like a major impact at first glance but we have tried to make this as minimal as possible and yet still allow variety and better armor overall, as well as allow a good scale from type to type. We did not adjust the level reqs via hak paks or anything like that but by adjusting how good they are for your characters their values went up which caused the level req. to go up because NWN bases it off of GP value.  Please be aware that your current equipment and anything already crafted has the old values and thusly can still be used at their old level req.  We did not touch the weapons, this affects only armor.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another major thing that we have to do is to balance things out with spells so that in an online world things make a little more sense.  On top of that Layonara is a low/mid level magic world and out of the box NWN is set to work for high magic worlds (ultra high in my humble opinion).  As such from time to time I have to adjust spells.  I do not do this to pick on any person or any class, I call them as I see them and I tend to get input from  people before doing it.  + Blade Barrier now does a max of 15d6 damage as per PnP rules (it was 20d6) + Firestorm now does pure fire damage (the damage output has not been adjusted).  It used to be ½ fire and ½ divine.  In PnP rules it is pure fire and I have adjusted it as such. + Both Darkfire and Flameweapon are not PnP spells and they completely throw the balance of things out the window, they were put in to NWN in order to help balance things for a single player campaign.  I almost got rid of the spells completely but decided against that after some input from the team as well as a few players.  These spells now do a max bonus of 1d4+4 and you get the +’s once ever 5 spell casting levels.  So if you are a level 10 caster casting this it will do 1d4+2 points of bonus.  This is more in line with our crafting system as well as keeping with the idea of a low/mid magic world. + Magic Vestment now gives a bonus of +1 for every 7 caster levels.  We had adjusted it to every 5 caster levels but since this spell stacks on shields and armor alike it was still too unbalancing.  So even at level 14 you will still have +4 to your AC because we all know it is casted on both the armor and shields for the most part. In PnP this spell does not stack with armor and shields, it is either or—not both.  This stacking problem is a pretty major flaw in the NWN system and if things that were not supposed to stack didn’t stack then we would not have such a difficult balancing job.

+ PK Tracking is now in place and working.    ++ Players get booted after 3 PKs in 24 hours (griefers)     ++ Players get booted after 5 Party PKs in 48 hours.  Mistakes happen but if you are careless enough to kill this often then perhaps you do not belong here.     ++ Players get historical PK count which boots after 10 PKs (more for GM reference)     ++ PCs will not get a token if PKed     ++ PKs are counted for spells, summons and traps set by players.

+ There are a few adjustments to healing kit recipes. + Both of these have now been updated in the crafting system as well as the vendors.  Prices have been dropped on both, especially the heal kits. + You can still use the old heal kits and potions but they can not be purchased and/or crafted any longer. + You can now craft a Spool of Thread +  Tailoring items now require a Spool of Thread +  There was a typo in the reinforced clothing recipe and it has been fixed/adjusted + NPC’s should no longer cross area boundaries + Server Status page should now show our custom PRC’s + Graves will now have the names of the owners on them if that person is logged in to the game + Tweaked server areas on west and central servers
+ Changed the recipe for Ultravison item to actually require ultravision type items + Fixed two Skald PrC bugs + There is a new shop (player run and paid for by the guild) in Hlint, Eastside.  It will be open when the players open it. + A few food crafting levels have been adjusted + There are now about a dozen more food items that can be crafted + Adjusted the drinks that are crafted so that they work with the hunger/thirst system.  Sorry for the bug before but it should be working now. + Elves will no longer snore when sleeping + You can no longer get a death token when killed by a DM or DM Possessed creature + DM’s can now speak to other DM via the DM channel across servers.  We are still working on a user friendly system for players to be able to communicate across servers.  You activate the DM Voice Widget on yourself then on the DM channel you'd type for example:   .cs Hey Pan, the groups about ready to head to Central, you got everything setup there?      As like other voice things, you need to be visible (Appear) for it to work. No way around that unfortunately. + Malar’s are not slightly rarer as well as a tougher fight + Various other creatures have been updated in combat prowess + Various other creatures have been reduced in number or moved to a more dangerous location (or both) + A few crafting houses have been rebuilt due to character donations and efforts + A lot of other various fixes

+++ And last but certainly not least, the EAST Server is now open for business.  Come one; come all to your death. J  I do have more work to do on this server but at this time it is close enough and is now open.

New Version Online as of 4:55pm PST, 1/5/2005

+ Potions of target (the new ones) have been adjusted to no longer do random rolls.  I decided that since in the online world we fight 1000’s of more creatures than in PnP that a random roll was not very good.  Therefore this is what they will do with this update:  Cure Light Wounds (Target) = 7 HP’s healed Cure Moderate Wounds (Target) = 15 HP’s healed Cure Serious Wounds (Target) = 24 HP’s healed Cure Critical Wounds (Target) = 35 HP’s healed Heal (Target) = 110 HP’s healed

+ You can once again craft the above standard (nwn potions) as well.  This will help solve the problem where people want to just hot button it or to use it while polymorphed etc.  I can not adjust their prices so it is the best solution I can do.  But you need to use the "target" potions to heal/aid your party members. + The recipe for the heal potion has been adjusted to be easier to craft. + You should now be able to cast the spells that did not previously work on our custom weapons.  We think this is fixed.  (tks Orth). + The swamp travel system has been fixed.  As well if you have the feat Woodland Stride you will not be affected by the swamp travel system (ie. you will move at normal rates). + Malar’s are no longer on the West Server. + Sandpaper can now be crafted. + Sandpaper is now a recipe for many of the wood crafted items—though not all. + You can now craft Lucinda’s Gift as well as Greater Scribing Parchment. + Lucinda’s Gift and Great Scribing Parchment are now required for Scrolls of 7th – 9th level. + Fixed a few other transition and minor bugs.

New Version Online as of 5pm PST, 1/21/2005
I want to first thank the new Project Team, you guys are doing great.  We are really starting to click and a lot of things are being worked on and completed.  A big thank you to Orth, Aryn, and G-452 for a lot of work over this update.
This is a major update and it also means a large amount of downloading again for everybody.  It had to be done to fix a mistake that I had did about eight months ago as well as to bring you all of the cool stuff that is in this new version.
Download these files from the Download Page: layov2_2da_v8.rar (http://ftp://64.127.106.70/files/layov2_2da_v8.rar) (210 KBytes - 1/21/2005) (all of the new customization stuff and more) layov2_art_v3.rar (http://ftp://64.127.106.70/files/layov2_art_v3.rar) (24.7 MBytes - 1/21/2005) (all of the new customization stuff and more) layov2_crea_v1.rar (http://ftp://64.127.106.70/files/layov2_crea_v1.rar) (65.8 MBytes - 1/19/2005)  (this file is needed to fix the deity shield problem--sorry for making you download this beast again).  If you do not want to download it that is okay but you will not have a few shields (deity shields) that you can make and/or equip.  But if you do not download it the game will still work.  I strongly urge you to download it though. layonara_v5.rar (http://ftp://64.127.106.70/files/layonara_v5.rar) (190 KBytes - 10/14/2004)  (you need to download this new tlk file as well...remember put it in your tlk directory).
Okay now on to the updates:

+ Customization for characters should now be fully functional as I wanted it to be many months ago.  Lots of cool new customization options. + All Shields (including deity shields) can now be customized without error (we hope), you MUST have downloaded the layov2_crea_v1.rar file above for this to work properly as well as to view the shields properly that others have equipped.  I urge you to download it. + You now need a Weapon Kit to modify weapons and a Shield Kit to modify shields, you do not need dyes and such for these two modifications.  You still need dyes for Cloth, Helms, Leather, Metal Armor.  The kits are on the crafting vendors. + All Hide, Leather, and Studded Leather has been updated to better fit with the world and character needs.  It was badly needed and is now done, everything is also craftable with these new items.  There are also an additional 12 armor pieces (4 of each type) that can be crafted.  This modification of items did cause their level restrictions to be raised due to the way NWN handles level restrictions equating to gold piece value.  But they are also far more useful and versatile.  All current equipment is still at their current level restrictions and can still be worn, only the newly created stuff falls in to the new level restrictions (but that is because the items are quite a bit better in many places). + With the arrival of Blood’s forces it seems they have also introduced a new card game to the general populace, and it is spreading like wildfire.  It is called “Demon Cards” and the Wild Surge Inn offers the game at this time—I will put it on the other servers if the game is liked enough.  Have you ever played Magic the Gathering?  If so you will like this game.  Later, and again if it is liked enough, I will probably put cards on creature drops—but it all depends.  I will quite likely be adjusting the prices of cards and such as we go along so please keep that in mind if/when I do adjust prices.  Click here to see a basic breakdown of the Demon Card Game.  http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=9459&posts=1#M52865  + Furniture in houses will now have their Orientation (facing), when the furniture tool is used, saved across server reboots.  Finally. J + The time system should now be far more reliable and as such we will start researching/working on systems that rely heavily on time. +  Most of the CNR resources that are found on the West Server can now also be found on the Central Server. + There is now a stable in Arable (East Server) + Various CNR Fixes + Various Area tweaks across all servers + Quite a few other Miscellaneous bugs are fixed

Leanthar's words:

New Version Online

A fairly good update once again.  You need to get some new hak paks as well.  Thank you to the Project Team, Orth, Ozy, and Adam Miller.

Layov2_2da_v9.rar and Layov2_art_v4.rar must be downloaded in order to get back in to the game.  I have also updated layov2_misc_v1.rar but you do not need to download it unless you want to.  I removed a conflicting head from that hak pak and you will still have problems unless you get that file, I urge you to do it but it is not required.

+ Demon Cards has had a lot of work put in to it and most of the known bugs are now fixed.  As well as you can now become a spectator in a game and also place bets on a game.  Adam Miller should be commended as he spent a full week on this project and he does not even play here.  I thank him very much.
+ Arrows and Bolts are now fully craftable, all missing recipes are in place.  There are a lot more options now.
Port Hampshire has been heavily reworked and should feel a little more like a city. Leilon has been touched up.
+ All customization bugs should be fixed.  We have also added yet more customization options.  What we have now is probably the best it will be for a while (bugs—if there are some—and all) as we need to move on to other projects.
+ More creatures have been added (horse drawn wagons and a surprise for a future update on a subrace).
+ Lens of Pricing now gives the Level Restriction of an item.
+ Sawdust mixup is now fixed.
+ Fishing line bug is fixed.
+ Flawed gems are now fixed.
+ Various typos are fixed.
+ CS System is updated to keep a loop from happening.
+ Increased the drop rate slightly on items across the board.
+ Increased the gold piece drop on Mid/Higher level creatures.
+ Thieves tools can now be crafted.
+ Fishing pole can now be crafted.
+ Polymorphed players won't lose their item stats bonuses due to autosave
+ A few more CNR additions and modifications.

Okay well with the dust settled, I'd like to address just exactly went into this update from the Human Resources side.  Oddly enough this massive update had less hands in it then most of my smaller ones.  The development team is not quite as strong as what it once was for varying reasons.  People leaving, people being banned, apathy, my want to not have to teach more etc.  To be quite frank, I'm looking for more support and recognition for the hands that went into this update.  I get saddened when there are more bug reports then notes of thanks for all the efforts.

Talan helped with the music fixes.
Pankoki made the new Vampires, a couple of areas and helped me test and debug a number of issues.
Leanthar fixed a few areas and added a couple.
Guardian built the temple for Folian.
Icey did a ton of creatures (monsters and NPCS), clothing/armor and items.
I did the rest.

This update began in the middle of April, just to give you an idea of where it all began.  I'm not aware of how much time the others spent, but Nicky spent at least 75 hours on it (that's not counting all the hours she spent supporting me, there were a few times frustration was going to have me abandon it all).  Personally I must have spent 200 hours doing it all.  Many of it menial tasks that I could not give to anyone else to protect the uniqueness of Layonara.  (I can't go handing out our modules to anyone, you don't wanna see another Layonara popping up eh?) Imagine updating the portraits for every creature/placeable in Layonara (as you can tell from the Bug Reports I missed some) Imagine going through every single file in our hak paks to find missing models and textures.  The scale of this update was massive.  I really hope this post gets that across.

Your support drives us.  Thanks to everyone who already has shown it.

orth and everyone else....you guys always have my respect and admiration.

I have worked on many projects where a seemingly small change or accomodating a "minor" request represents days worth of work and hundreds of lines of code.  And of course, the only response is usually, "Oh...thanks"...though sometimes it's "Oh...finally" *sighs*

So on that note...once again, a job well done!

I hope the bug reports don't make you feel like we dont appreciate the update and the work that went into it.

Personally, I go looking for bugs and keep a list while I'm playing.  I think of it as a way I can contribute to the effort of updating and improving layonara (and I can play at the same time hehehehe)

Once again, if you have anything you need done that you are able to pass off to someone else, I would be willing to help with it.

As for horses, maybe one day, work out the bugs with just a couple users.  Then see what L thinks.

I HATE being the voice of complaint.

I love what has been done with the Leilon Arms. But, when you put the shelves in behind the bar, you covered up our booze crate, heh.

Umm, if we could get the booze crate fixed, moved, something like that, it would be real nifty. Like I said, I really hate complaining. You have done more for our inn than we EVER expected. The Leilon Arms was awesome to begin with, but now it feels like it is even more. Thank you.

Are the amulets of those types supposed to be changed too? I just threw what i had of those rings and amulets on my ox for updating, and my exceptional silver sapphire amulet didnt change, but the rings did. Right now the rings are better than the amulets, and that doesnt make much sense. Hm, so i guess this should have been posted under bugs? :)

The amulets were not changed, so it's not a "bug" as such. It's a good question though.  Probably worth looking into.  Thanks!

What does putting items on one's ox do in this case?

What does putting items on one's ox do in this case?

The ox only stores item blueprints, so when you put something onto an ox, it gets converted into a blueprint before being stored in the database.  When you pull the item off the ox, it's converted from the blueprint back into an actual item.  In the case of items that are updated like this, it basically recreates the item to the new specifications.
Incidentally, this is the reason why enchanted items (weapons/armor/etc) cannot be put on an ox, because while the item itself is preserved, the enchantment is stripped.

I see.  So as a player, how do I know which items to put on the ox for updating and when?  Can there be a statement issued after an update informing the players to do this sort of thing with an updated item?

Items aren't updated too often, but if they are, such updates are generally announced here.

Just a quick update, folks....several small things and one big thing:
All servers: - New quest areas (mixafix and Vyris) - Fixed incorrect pricing on a few furniture deeds - Grand Piano furniture deed should now work properly - Added/Updated about 9 NPCs/creatures (Ice, mixafix, Milo, Vyris) - Removed Invisibility effect from Greater Sanctuary
West updates: - Crimson Shield Guild Hall has been added - Moved skunk in Lake Alon area to keep it from slaughtering the poor otter nearby - Fixed area transition at the Spellgard Tower of High Arcana
Central updates: - Updated portrait for Healer of Kitharien - Updated name for Healer of Az'atta
Alright...so much for the little stuff.  Now for the big thing.

King Waylend of Pranzis announces:
NEW HOMES AVAILABLE NEAR PRANZIS IN THE SUBURBAN HAFT LAKE DISTRICT

That's right! Forty (40) new player character houses have been added to Central. Be sure to thank Leanthar for rolling up his sleeves and lovingly building each and every house from spare lumber.  So come, browse the neighborhood, bring your gold and experience the joys of home ownership on beautiful Dregar.
Credit and thanks for this update goes to Leanthar, IceDragon, mixafix, Milo and Vyris for their contributions. And if I've inadvertently left someone out, thanks to you as well.

i think it will only randomly select a target if you did not click a creature when you click on one, this is an area of effect spell being reduced to a single target spell (which i personaly think is apropriate in this instance) and it's likely the only way they were able to do it

There is an entry in the spells.2da that can be changed to make it hostile target only, rather than ground targeted.  It's fairly straightforward to change that.  Altering the script itself to make it only affect the targetted creature would take a bit more effort.

It is scripted to be targetable on the ground to make it more dangerous to the caster.  I'm well aware of how to change spell targetting, though I'm not sure if that information was directed at the developers here or a general note.

Hehe I know you know.  Hell, you have to in order to make some of the other changes.  That was directed just towards the person who replied that they weren't sure there was a way to change an AoE to a Single Target spell.

Keep up the good work btw.  These changes sound fabulous, I can't wait to get home and hop back online in game.

New vesion online last night-- not entirely sure what time it was finished. This link gives the updates:

Nothing public, and there's not a one-to-one correlation. The only thing I'll say is that low-end deposits and ores no longer have even the smallest chance of yielding high-end minerals.
Sorry, but the "Mystery Mineral Lottery" is over, and we're not going to give out info regarding which deposits someone should farm to have a chance at getting an emerald the easy way.

Sorry, but the "Mystery Mineral Lottery" is over,  and we're not going to give out info regarding which deposits someone should farm to have a chance at getting an emerald the easy way.
Thanks for the update. Is as I thought it would be and for the best.

Even as a beneficiary of this lottery, I still say thank god for one of the most needed changes.

I second that... After getting a diamond and a emerald from mining in the red light caves

Wow... The farming system is coming to fruition. I have to say, guys, that that is something I never would've even dreamed of, before coming to Layonara. You guys have taken the game and made so much more of it. So much more.

But I really have to ask. Where'd Trollocs come from? Last I heard, they were a little busy following the orders of Myrddraal and the Forsaken to be running amok in NWN.

The new version 2.98 is now up and running on all servers.  It does require the download of two updated files:
  layov2_2da_v26.rar (http://nwn.layonara.com/downloads/files/layov2_2da_v26.rar)  (un-RAR to the NWN .\\hak folder) layonara_v18.rar (http://nwn.layonara.com/downloads/files/layonara_v18.rar)  (un-RAR to the NWN .\\tlk folder)
It also requires that you update NWN to v1.68.
If you have a Skald or Spellsword PrC character, please read this before updating: http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=30073&posts=1#M191681 (http://thread-view.asp?tid=30073&posts=1#M191681)

Does it have it's own model? I'm curious what the Layonara take on one of DnD's most powerful critters is.

I have not seen the creature in action so do not know what it is set up like. But I am with you on the statement 8bit. It should by its very nature be the walking terror of the server....nobody in my PnP games ever beat one but they did get it plane shifted off the prime....however...hehe.. well the rest is another story. :)

Ahh...The model is from the vault.
If you want to see what it looks like, you can fire up your own toolset, associate the Layo HAKs with the module and make a creature with the Tarrasque appearance type.

New version as of 6am PST (12/08/2006)

A quick version update (well as quick as one can be with the number of modules and module sizes we have now). ?

+ Farming is updated and we hope it is now completed. This includes meat from the animals. Please test heavily so that we can get it live on the next update. Thank you Blonde and thank you Dorganath for helping me with an issue during the update.
+ An area in the Underdark is updated
+ The shadow dragon is updated
+ New creatures and items. Thank you IceDragon
+ The Weird spell is now updated. Technichally Weird is not "death magic" and so this immunity should not come into play. For targets immune to death, it computes the damage needed to kill the creature.  Goes into all four servers and replaces the existing script of the same name.
+ Two new areas for GM run events
+ 3 player house remodels for normal houses are in
+ 1 shop for a guild is updated

+ Many new CNR Recipes have been added using Dorganath’s cool new tool. With this tool we can now catch up with CNR updates and stick with the database solution. Woot! ?
Jewelry (Enchanting Bowl)
Ring of Shield I (replaces Necklace of Shield)
Ring of Shield II
Amulet of Barkskin I (replaces Necklace of Barkskin)
Amulet of Barkskin II

Wooden shields (Carpenter's Bench, regular and advanced)
12 new craftable shields (small, large and tower) available in Hickory, Oak, Mahogany and Yew. These shields are equivalent to their metal counterparts.

Intermediate products: (Tailor's Tables, regular and advanced)
Bolt of Dark Silk

Bolt of Bebilith Silk

As a worker of wood, Dalan is very thankfull for the addition of wood shields and am looking forward to seeing them in game.

I am confused about the farming however.  There is post elsewhere that is dated 12/08/06 stating that farming is still being tested.  This upadate notice mentions there is farming but needs testing.  Is this for the players to test?  If so, is there a post I missed that talks about how to buy a farm, what can be raised and where you buy animals and seed?

Regardless, I am very impressed with all that is done on this world and greatly appreciate your hard work.

Post by: D Blaze on December 08, 2006, 03:52:39 pm
you aren't rendered totally immune, cuz of the power of the illusion, it just won't kill you.
It is like getting an auto-succeed on the fort save, even if you fail, thus still hitting the PC with 3d6 damage, 1d4 STR drain, and stun for a round.

Farming is being tested. This is perhaps the final (or very close to the final) iteration of changes before we release it to the public. But having said that it still need to be tested to be sure. We can only test so much in an isolated environment. How it performs in the live PW is still very important to test.
Rest assured, when farming is available and open to everyone, there will be a public post announcing it formally.

I hate to sound impatient, but is there any timeframe when the next release will be?

I.e. is it going to be soon (a partial release, moving us to 2.99 or somesuch) or later (only releasing when ready for full-fledged V3)?
Title: RE: New Version Online
Post by: Dorganath on February 06, 2007, 07:39:56 pm
No time frame
  No definite plans.
There -may- be a release prior to V3...there may not. There's a lot going on at the moment, so it's difficult to squeeze out an update.
