Open Chests During Server Crash

Rhizome - 7/6/2005  12:52 PM    It is a known Layonara phenomenon that chests left open during a crash will wipe all contents from the server memory.  So, be sure to close your bank vault, as well as chests in your home, whenever you leave.  Sometimes they stick open and that can leave you vulnerable for the next crash.
Items can be returned when chests are left open and the server crashes.  These requests, however, will need some form of verification of the items in question.  If you notice the server seems frozen, try a screen shot.  If that doesn't work, confirmation from another player will do the trick.
Thanks for being vigilant regarding this issue.
  Respect,
  Rhizome
The sign for a crash for me is when inventory pages on my person or in chests go blank, since I can't access the database probably. How will a screeny help?

That can happen, true.  But it can also happen that if you have the inventory of your pack or chest open and the server begins to melt-down, you'll find that you can't manipulate items.  If you are in such a situation, take a quick snap shot.  That's what I was trying to suggest.  Of course that's not possible in the situation you describe above.  But if you are unable to access your inventory because a crash is in progress, hopefully that means your items wont be exposed to the server gremlins.
  Thanks for requesting clarification.
