Panther Leather/Hide

I just made level 14 today and was finally able to wear Panther Hide Armor.  The special abilities on it are the same as leather with a couple additions.  Even though the Hide and Move Silent and Search Ability is +3 bonus on both items, when the Hide is worn you only get +2 for each of those.  Using examine tells you it is supposed to be +3.  Unless there is something I'm missing?

The armor check penalty on hide armor is 1 higher than on leather.  Armor check penalty is subtracted from all dex based skills and is higher on heavier armors and shields.
