Title: Version 3.40 is online!
Post by: orth on December 26, 2014, 01:20:17 pm

Version 3.40 is online!

This isn't a very significant update in terms of fixes or additions for players but those will be coming. The biggest change is merging Central and West together and cleaning up the haks. We hope this will make joining up and playing together easier plus it alleviates issues with the cross server portals, horses and other inconsistencies across the servers. It also makes deployment, administration and coding a bit simpler. Should the need arrive to separate them due to performance or other issues then we'll go back to that way but all the other updates mentioned in this post will still exist.

If you haven't downloaded any haks I mentioned earlier you can get them from here in one large rar (the Downloads (http://"/node/2590") section will be updated shortly to get each individual hak should that be easier for you):

http://e5bf79fd7133583b11df-dabb80c66fac67c5c4cbee545d8dd728.r44.cf1.rackcdn.com/haks/layonara_haks.rar (http://"http://e5bf79fd7133583b11df-dabb80c66fac67c5c4cbee545d8dd728.r44.cf1.rackcdn.com/haks/layonara_haks.rar") (914MB)

If you have recently downloaded the big hak I mentioned in the other thread to get a jump on things, you will now only need to get the two below:

http://e5bf79fd7133583b11df-dabb80c66fac67c5c4cbee545d8dd728.r44.cf1.rackcdn.com/haks/layo_ctrlv3r18.rar (http://"http://e5bf79fd7133583b11df-dabb80c66fac67c5c4cbee545d8dd728.r44.cf1.rackcdn.com/haks/layo_ctrlv3r18.rar") (346KB)

If you downloaded the all in one hak I've realized that one of the haks may have been corrupt. If your textures are missing, you may need to redownload the layo_tga.hak.

It's available here: http://e5bf79fd7133583b11df-dabb80c66fac67c5c4cbee545d8dd728.r44.cf1.rackcdn.com/haks/layo_tga.rar

For some people there's been issues with the downloads ending up being corrupted. I've verified that all files are on the servers in their proper form so this leads me to believe some clients are having issues with lost packets.

I've experimented with a few download managers and found the best was DownThemAll for Firefox.

You can install it from here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/downthemall/

Once you install it and restart Firefox you will be able to right click a link and select: Save Link with DownThemAll!

This will open a box for you to configure the download. Most options are fine but you'll also see an option to run a checksum. The checksum will verify that the file is successfully downloaded in its complete form. The SHA1 checksum for the big hak file is: 345d70b2f595298a4d175ce1ffdc1a96845ba6c9

Paste that code in the field then click the Start! button.

Ummm, can't login since the server update stalls at about 500mb.  Any other options?  Can we host that anywhere more stable?

There is no problem with Rackspace CDN. If you're not getting past 500MB then it sounds like a client thing.

You can always download the individual haks each from the Downloads page.

I was having a lot of problems downloading any and all of the files from the layo page for some reason, but I was finally able to download it from the cdn link.  I think it might have had something with my wireless internet, but it didn't matter if I was downloading the all-in-one or individually.  All of them stalled out around 40-50%.  Even when I was finally able to download the all in one, it would slow down and seem to hault several times before it would speed up again and sort of go in waves.  Thankfully it did work.

Just a note on a couple of issues:

There was an issue with bindpoints on the Central server messing things up with both messages and when you died. It should be fixed at the next reset.

I've turned off the preloading the furniture of the recently used homes because it's too heavy on the server at start up. May change the logic to do it when no one was in logged in.

Orth, when I do this I'm getting an error that the checksums of the download didn't match. Am I doing something wrong?

If it tells you the checksum mismatches that means the file has not downloaded properly. I would download each individual hak from the Downloads page and test your connection to Layonara after downloading each.

Here is a list of the proper SHA1 checksums for each hak file after extraction.

7fc51a8f8d6603b657d74c1d9155b3a6f9b4c63e  layo_female.hak
7557c08d7e8b88acb750ba45cf8698c2dba8855b  layo_male.hak
0c455cfb93955485fd2a8ff25b64e729fc771319  layo_minimaps.hak
e31caec69ddacd7714ec1c927b7500f2b2b1effb  layo_misc.hak
33326b49a6ae4434a96350a1c9dbfc38b8859d84  layo_plc.hak
f8a4cdfd3f306278d7ef1f47c588b1efb8e6dafb  layo_resr1.hak
b263bf0e7d1b5c2e6ce20eb0262fe0e5f9e86482  layo_tga.hak
6bac52e21a96311ba279570202908461d21bc75a  layo_tiles.hak
ad57103950a3dc649dfaa4655283c03a84e1108e  layo_wok.hak

You can download a program like Hash it up to verify that your hak's contents are the same as the servers. After you install this program when you right click a file and click Properties it will have a menu for you to verify your hak file matches the server's. Make sure you click on SHA1!

Title: What's does this
Post by: Lynn1020 on December 26, 2014, 08:47:51 pm

What's does this mean?

Extracting to "C:\\NeverwinterNights\\NWN\\hak\\"
Use Path: yes   Overlay Files: no
Extracting layo_tiles.hak
Error: Bad data in file "C:\\NeverwinterNights\\NWN\\hak\\layo_tiles.hak"
Irrecoverable Error: Bad data detected.

I think I may have it.
