When you go on barbarians island you can get your dex and speed movement decreased by cold but I didnt see anything like this in the desert heat.
So i'm wondering if it would not be something to do to have possible heat strokes, dex, strenght,  speed be lowered by heat,  having an accelerated water consumption too.  I think this would actualy make this a bit more realistic of staying  a long amount of time in the deserts or where heat is extrem like firesteeps. Drinking more water and wearing things that are much lighter, therefor less hot to ware, would diminish the effects
Oh and have the water supplied froze in the cold hehe.

The desert right now aren't so extremly warm anymore due to the nuclear winter we have... erh... I mean... the blood clouds. :)

I think some desert temperatures have polarized actually, at least in a couple places... but regardless of hot vs cold, dehydration would still be nice. There are several You vs Environment systems around, but this topic has come up before so I'm not sure if there's much interest in implementing them.

hmm I'd imagine a con decrease would make sense for the desert. Now is the time to consider new systems as far as I know, since we're officially moving into V3 with NWN1

Very true, however an alteration to these systems should be imposed, perhaps. Such as damage resistance, fortitude saves, or even will power. I always wondered why we didn't take cold damage in the frozen parts of the world. Even ifthe Bioware script from the HoTU Campaign was jacked, it seemed well enough.
There is any number of possibilities that could come from a system like this; disease or poison in swamps, lack of oxygen in the mountains, loss of movement speed in the deserts, dehydration and hunger having multiplied effects in extreme environments, etc. If it is implimented well enough, with the possibilities for a save against it or for the ability to resist it in some way, it would add an extra element of danger and excitement to an otherwise over-visisted area.

we do take cold damage, dex reduction and speed movment, but for both of them heat or cold a hit point could be added if you waited very long to find shelter, like let say 10 hit point every 2 min could do it. But I like my idea of cold freezing the water supply you would be carrying  hehe.

I agree. I liked the cold damage in HoTU.  I took the cold res feat with Thrain because he is from Shoufal and I figured he should be able to withstand very cold weather.  Alas he gets frostbite like everyone else and Ive yet to find any "damage" causing cold places. ah well wasted feat to an extent.  Does anyone know if additional cold res feats or perhaps some special cold weather cloaks keep the frostbite at bay?  living in Alaska I hate the fact that my char gets cold feet. :p

There are items in-game that protect against the cold effects.
Interesting point about the feat. That may be something to consider adjusting.
