Is it possible with killing a skeleton, that they could leave behind perhaps a thigh bone or even a skull. The reason I ask this, is that the thigh bone has many uses, such as a component for making a wand for necromantic castings. The skull can be used to make bowels and even goblets (again with the necromantic components).
I had learned, that where wood is scarce or one has to travel great distances to aquire wood, many common household tools and tablewares were made from the bone of the recently deceased. (only after the remains had been stripped of their flesh and carefully prepared for alternative uses)
