Market Tables

(1/5) > >>

RikL:
I encountered this on another server, and it really worked extremely well in many respects. Whats more is its about as simple an add on as you can think of... all I'm suggesting is that some tables be added into Hlint town center set up roughly in the form of a market. This way any character who has goods to sell, can simply set up a market stall (the only risk being if the server crashes). With a player driven economy that Layonara has, I think this could be an excellent addition to Hlint, also giving Hlint a little more "town" flavour to it... and making player trade much more easy. It would also make a merhcant type character far more possible to play.

Joe to Go:
We used to have player vendors but they had several issues. So they were removed. I think some one pointed out that they had issues and they were removed in another post not sure where.

EdTheKet:
They were removed on October 14 (see "New Version online" post by L on that date).
People continued to sell to the vendors while they were not designed to be sold to, despite numerous requests and signs and texts that popped up people didn't care so they were removed (unfortunately).
As you can read in that thread, they might be back, or they might not be.

Highway Man:
Second server I was an admin on had player vendors. What we did was have the items that each vendor had for sale listed and the actual item was stored out of game like with the bank money…to keep the lag down. So for example you walk up to Mr.Smith’s vendor and talk to it and instead of showing the items for sale it can listed them. Course if you do that you’ll need to set up a list some where of every single craftable item and what it does so people know what they are buying…that list could be set up on the forums though.

You could do that here I think…if you can figure out how. I don’t really think we should have 50 player vendors hanging around Hlint though. Maybe a maximum of 2-8 player vendors per town depending on the size of the town and the cost of each vendor could depend on the town size and location as well. Also the vendors themselves should take at least 10% of what ever the player earns from sales. Hlint, Port Hampshire, and Pranzis would be prime real-estate I think. Player vendors shouldn’t be cheap…my opinion though.

Also I’d like to see the vendors spread out and look different from one another in each town. When I first got here they were all stuffed in one building and were all the same guy. Maybe they could all wear the same color tunic to say they are a player vendor.

Just some ideas there.

Edit: Also doing it this way will keep people from selling goods to player vendors when they shouldn't be to begin with.

You guys are completely missing the point here...

I'm not talking abour Player Vendors at all... I'm saying that there should be some tables, so players can literally lay out their stuff, stand there and sell to the gathered crowds. Its the best PC market system I've seen on any server, Vendors included, and its great for RP.

what I am saying is literally, my character goes to the table/stand/stall put his stuff on the floor/table/stand/stall and starts shout "stuff for sale". Risks of losing everything on server crash is worth it anyway, as you would be a fool to put anything valuable out. The idea is that there is a place you can go and stand, in the town center, to sell your wares i.e. such that its obvious to other people know you are trading
