Both will and fort of the giants and mostly anything there, is ludicrously high. Fort save of the giants are 21. Will 21 also.

Those aren't "ludicrously high", especially not for creatures with calculated CRs in excess of 30.  Their Will saves were only increased a few points when they were adjusted, and their Fort saves were not touched at all.

Being that they are a cr of 30 + it explains much. Anyhow thanks for the explanation dorg, as always, you are very helpful.

Moreover, "as hard to kill as the giants", when applied to an effect that is an all-or-nothing instant kill is a bit of an interesting turn of phrase.

Bards in general are not meant as soloing characters.  They're support characters.  The Skald PrC gives them a surprising amount of punch, but what Bards do is enhance party members.

So the fact that a Bard/Skald is unable to solo the Deep or the Great Forest isn't indicative of some sort of weakness in the PrC - it's just how party dynamics are supposed to work.

On top of all that, of course, my point from earlier still stands: a Collossal-sized AoE insta-death ability that can be used
[list=a]
  • in dead magic zones
  • more times per rest than a comparable wizard/sorcerer spell
  • without the possibility of a concentration failure due to combat damage, and
  • with a negligible casting time

is not something that I would consider "underpowered".

I do not know why every one tends to think that the request is to be able to solo. But it is really getting more than frustrating that it's the word of the day! Any one that has actually noticed, My skald is only plaid in party, with certain character. Else it's on the shelf, mainly because I dislike soloing.

I don't even solo the forest of fog with her, even though she could certainly do it. It's more of a question of feeling useful in the party and seeing that what she has worked hard in RP to get, at the cost of many things I should say rp wise, lover(s), family, friends ect, would not be in vain because of when she hits the higher areas (cr 30+ apparently) her abilities are only  there for screaming her lungs out, popping ears of her comrades out and seeing the enemy laugh at her. That's bassically how it feels to me anyways.

I don't even think that the point jade brought up was about him being able to solo flynn in the gf, but that any skald trying to do so would truly be seeking death. SO can we please drop the Soloing mantra that is being brought up here?

Hi all, Zoogmuch here with a comment having played a purple clad dwarf bard for some time now and only reached level 13.

My simple view is that the bard class is a supportive one and the aim of the game is role play. Keppli says we cant all be megadestructive and some classes are there for a purpose. You choose what you want to play.

I get just as much fun out of playing Rocky running around in silk armour but i know that at levl 13 he still cant beat the ogres on west without getting serious damage. Its more realistic in my opinion.

However, and theres always a howeve. It does make it really hard to progress and Rocky's lost 6 strands from me being bored when thers no one on and I solo him exploring in inv mode on the old level 17 plus areas. One attack and hes dead.

Could bards have something for gaining xp when performing in an rp situation. I can spend hours actually writing some songs to improve rp for everyone ( when i could just say Rocky sings a great song) and i might roll Perform check equals 55 for everyone to clap and I get zip. Thats after about 2 years of playing him. How about a system where the other players can nominate characters for xp enhancements on forum. an extension of the Kudos for great play section maybe. the higher level fighters obviously get their xp from smooshing stuff day in day out but the bard, even at level 13, gets maybe a few hundreds xp at most on their own. And as true is generally linked to kilss on layo hes always skint too. hes a 9th level alchemist and still cant make much worth a  as the elements require access to  dusts etc in dangerous area where he cant go alone.

I've taken to a sign on the PC saying   " Rocky, dont be stupid!" after the sixth SS.

Just my thoughts!

The matter that folks think this is about soloing, is likely due from the General Discussion part of the forum's recent posts about casters vs. non-caster classes being able / not being able to solo. Must have caught a trend or something :P
