Rumour Has It / Re: At the edge of the Gobling waste land

A white-haired young man approaches the area with the sign in, apparently lost and whimpering fearfully.

Upon spotting the person talking to the bear, he shrieks and runs away, getting even more lost in the forest before finally running back into the city, once more covered in mud and exhausted.

Just a thought: In my experience of NWN, you don't cause an Attack of Opportunity if you walk whilst in combat. Makes sense, considering as someone running is more distracted and hence easier to hit, whilst walking suggests you go towards the combat ready and focused.

Also, makes more sense than all those platemailed people jogging about. :P

Forum Name: Minstrel

 Login Name: Travelling_Minstrel

Age: 23, though the mental age of a senile old man.

 Sex: Male

 Location: England.

 Timezone: Er... Englandy. GMT.

NwN Experience: A year or so.

PnP Experience: A few games over the course of a year during my teens.

 Occupation: Student.

Characters Played: Here? Or everywhere? Well, here I've just reborn an NPC as a real character, after giving him a fresh coating of backstory. Venny Pallens.

What I like to see IG: In-town Roleplay. Characters that develop through actions more than levels. OOC problems solved quickly without needing DM's. Every character being much, much more than a simple combination of class, race, and alignment. People with real goals and roles, above and beyond getting the next level. Gelatinous cubes.

What I dislike to see IG: (So much... :P ) Things that break immersion, like people running through towns and resting in the middle of the road. OOC bickering that gets nothing solved. Clique groups. Excessive levelling at the expense of real RP and plot. Excessive use of rolls without RP backing it. Metagaming, dungeon premonition, Badly-played Clerics, Greatswords, Badly-played Clerics with Greatswords, powerbuilds, dump stats. Evil equalling Rude, Good equalling Polite. PvP = Evil. People ignoring RP in favour of XP.... (Yeah, and I wonder why I left my last servers.:\\ )

Ah, but the most dangerous enemy is always the DM. No matter how high level you are, you can never compete with their mastery of the toolset!

Morning, evening, 'noon and 'night, ladies, gentlemen, halflings, dragons, orcs, ogres, fish, elves, and any combination of the above!

I'm Minstrel, travelling storyteller, serial RPer and eccentric.

Having drifted about looking for worlds in the huge void of the NWN cloud, I find myself drifting into here. I normally shy away from Epic levels, since after all, power corrupts, so the power to kill a dragon with a sneeze must be very unhealthy, but I threw caution to the winds and rolled in.

So! Good day! I'm a pretty focused RPer, only slack 'n' hashing when it's really the only option. I generally have characters with less in the way of backstory and more in the way of potential to gain backstory. Yet to get in game, due to the DM reviewers not actually having the efficiency of a coffee-fuelled gnome, but you know, at least it gives me time to ramble about on the forums for a bit and scare people.

Yes indeed! I'm terribly English to the point of it being life-threatening, and actually ate some scones a few hours ago just for the joy of enforcing a stereotype. Whilst I lack the top hat, monacle, and Handlebar Moustache +3, I make up for it in oddness.

I've been playing DnD since before we threw THAC0 out the window, and NWN since I threw my DM out of the window (Or at least migrated to a less nerdy part of England).

I enjoy short walks in the forest, writing, and gelatinous cubes. My pet peeves are badly-played Clerics and Greatswords!

Look forward to seeing what this world has in store for old Venny and his rampant shenanigans.
