It's really no competition. Rust Monsters and Delvers take the trophy with no effort.

Just for Fun / RE: My First Week On Layo
« on: February 27, 2006, 03:50:22 pm »
I came here with a friend. We wandered around Hlint killing a random rat and dying to the next. After a few hours of gaming we ran into a paladin named Dillon O'Roarke who showed us around. Then we met Ozy who told us a scary story about demons I think. The story was so scary and he spewed broken english so fast that my friend got scared and never logged back.

The next day Dillon and two of his friends, Merry Thorn, a halfling ranger, and Merry's good friend whose name I can't remember for the death of me took us to the Old Red Light Caves to mine some copper so they'd make me a plate. During our trip down the mine we were suddenly attacked by goblins riding on spiders and had to kill the spiders being raised in the caves so that the goblin wouldn't gain enough power to threaten Hlint.

During the fierce last battle against the goblin chief Rev fell but Amenithrulia, the Healer in Hlint received a message from Ilsare that one of Her own had fallen in the caves and headed down there to bring Rev back. In the end our four heroes of the day emerged from the cave victorious and covered in spider web.

We moved to the Hlint Crafthouse and Dillon did his best to create a full plate for Rev, but as some of the copper we mined was of second grade quality we had to recycle the good parts of the plate into a scale mail. That scale mail ended up being Rev's primary protection for many real life months to come, until one day a lot later certain young Maddison Trenton gave Rev the platinum full plate she had won in a raffle but before that Rev had gone trough quite a few interesting experiences that may be reminisced on some other day

General Discussion / RE: Bugs created by the latest batch. Read!

Also something to note: If you try to rest while wearing a heavy armor but the rest is stopped and then, before unequipping that armor, log out you will not be able to log back in. One more reason to avoid doing this.

Fixed Bugs / RE: New Summoned Creature Problem
« on: November 22, 2005, 09:02:00 am »
The two spells “Summon Dretch” and “Summon Krashin Barbarian” were never intended to be added to the cleric spell list. They are related to another project that is still being worked on.

Please refrain from using these spells because you should not be able to cast them and some bugs still exist with both of the summons.

Fixed Bugs / RE: Armour becomes unidentified at rest.
« on: November 22, 2005, 08:57:00 am »
A clarification to this bug:

On the last update we changed how the system evaluates if you are allowed to rest in the clothes/armor you are wearing.

I think this bug is related to that change. When ever you try to rest in an armor that does not allow resting, the armor becomes unidentified when you unequipp it.

So please, do not try to rest in heavy armors or they will become unidentified.

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / RE: Eye of the Soul and Deity
« on: November 18, 2005, 02:47:00 pm »
I don't think that the Eye telling the relationship between the deity of the one who's raising and the deity of one who is being raised has anything to do with soul stones. True, the eye can be used to detect the presence of a soul stone but I can see no reason why it couldn't serve some other purpose at the same time.

If that is the problem then we can create a separate item from the Eye to serve this function. How the information is received is of no importance to me.

I agree that the Eye should not tell the deity of the person it's being used. I mentioned that it might be too much in the initial post. I made a mistake when I mentioned the deity being told, as that seems to have only clouded this conversation.

Finally let me say this clearly. The information is already out there. When you raise someone you'll know whether they were allied, friendly or hostile. I would merely wish to add a way for a cleric to get this information before raising someone in those few situations where there really hasn't been the chance to RP getting to know one another.

Or then we can go with the option where clerics simply refuse to raise those who they do not know.

And on it working only on dead people, sure. I wasn't really planning on running around pointing at random people with it anyway.

While I have nothing against the Bless test I can't see it as a better RP solution to the problem than the eye.  The cleric casts a spell to whole area. How would the cleric know who the spell effected and who were left out? I know that there are multiple RP ways to explain this, maybe she just knows or maybe the yellow flashes that appear on top of people's heads are constantly there. But as easily could be explained that the cleric can just softly ask her deity of her opinion of someone else and the eye would be the means of answering.  Also the bless test is a bit cumbersome to use in large parties. Usually there are multiple clerics in the party, all casting bless after everyone has rested. Usually at this point it is a wiser choise to use your spell slots to something else and when the party consists of twenty people, sometimes most of whom you do not even know properly, memorizing everyone who is not hit by bless is a bit cumbersome.  Finally there's also the matter of raising Allied people with no cost. I would imagine that the cleric would know this ahead of time also, but there's no way to tell trough a bless test who is allied and who is merely friendly.  The way I see it is that since the eye is going to be used at the dead person anyway, might as well add the useful information it offers. This would make things simple and give the cleric the ability to grasp the situation relatively quickly. As I said, we want out clerics to be responsible in their actions. I see no harm giving them a hand when making these important decisions.  So I'd rather turn the question the other way around. What reasons would we have no to implement this property to the Eye?

Not blaming you. I knew Aragen was hostile to Ilsare but didn't know Mith followed him and the information on it was not available in game. We were in a hurry so I made a judgment call. Stuff like this happens.

Still I feel that if a cleric would prepare to raise somebody whom her deity disfavors, she would know it before the ceremony was complete and thus would be able to stop it before going trough with it. This is why I think the information should be available by using the eye.

If we expect our clerics to be responsible in their actions they should be given the necessary knowledge to make the decision.

CNR Suggestions/Discussion / RE: Boots of the Crag Cat

We already have a large number of items that give you a bonus to Hide and Move Silently. Even as it is now it's quite possible to get these two skills so high that there's practically no chance of you being detected. I really don't see a reason to add more of these.
