General Discussion / RE: feats
« on: October 23, 2005, 08:05:00 am »
This isn't lazy, the is starting to get borderline rude.
You bought the game and should therefore have a manual. Read it!
The feats are explained for each class with lvl they are given, duration and what they do. If you have a specific question about a feat I'd be happy to answer it if I can.

Sorry if this comes off as hostile, but sheez...

*slaps forehead*
Found the problem, I had a race_feat_hfelf.2da in my override directory.
It includes Artist and Silver Palm as base feats. Must have picked it up on some other server I played on earlier.

I tried to recreate the character with the same stats, skills and feats as before, and by default it receives the feats "Artist" and "Silver Plam" (although I never bothered to click Play when I noticed the feats). Is there another half-elf out there that can confirm that these feats comes with the half-elf race, so that these are not the cause of my problems?

Ok. I'll recreate it with a light modification to the name. (and double check and triple check it before finalizing it)
Deletion request in progress.

Yeah, thought those two feats looked a bit out of place. Weird part is I never even considered taking those. Oh well...
Don't know how the client/server interacts at creation but perhaps lag could have caused it?

Should I just recreate the character with a slight change in name, or wait and have it fixed with Leto?

Another check on the character shows it also got the feats "Artist" and "Silver Palm".
Do half-elfs get those for free or is this the reason the character is bugged?

I noticed there is a "Invalid_char_2da" download. Will this fix my problem?
I'm currently at work so I have no way of checking it out.

Edit: Perhaps I even got it already. Sheez.. I'm tired, no air condition.

General Discussion / RE: Cleve with Duel weild?
« on: October 20, 2005, 10:24:00 am »
I'm not sure about this but here it goes.

Without cleave: Lets say you have 3 attacks/round. You fight two monsters and kill the first on your second attack for a specific round. Since you do not have cleave you loose your last attack as you swing around to face your   new foe.

With cleave: Still got 3 attacks/round. You fight two monsters and kill the first on your second attack for a specific round. Since you have cleave you swing your sword hitting the next monster and continues with your last attack on your new foe.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

General Discussion / RE: How useful is persuade / high charisma in Layonara?
« on: September 28, 2005, 08:27:00 am »
Charisma based skills (Bluff, Persuade, Intimidate etc) are used a lot on DM run quests. Can always get the group some nice info and let them stay out of trouble.

Appraise on the other hand is not used very much. You might save a couple of gold buying enchanting oil but you might want to use those skillpoints on something else.

I think I'd prefer a Wand of "get the heck out of a tight spot" with unlimited uses/day. Oh, and a Wand of "rollback previous bad move" wouldnt hurt either.

Development Journals and Discussion / A little help from his friends
« on: September 23, 2005, 09:32:00 am »
Deiwos gives the dead duergar a small kick.
"- This one was a tough little bugger."
Vigg removes his helmet and wipes his forehead.
"-Yup. Fastest one I've seen... ever!"
They lean over the corpse and examines the red outfit with caution.

A bright, warm light appears and against the dark walls of the underdark two dwarven figures appear.

The first one approaches and speaks.
"-You have done well, Vigg Belber. The Father is proud of your actions. But it is not complete."
He walks over to an anvil, basking in a red unsettling glow and raises his axe.
As he lets it smash onto the anvil the red glow seems to fight back but in the end the anvil crumbles to dust and the red glow vanishes.
He then again adresses the now somewhat confused Deiwos and Vigg.
"-I am Kelp and this" He nods to the other dwarf "is Mart. We once served with Rainstoff's Red Axes. The duergar you see before you called himself the Red Axe and by slaying him you have ended what could have been a great threat. It is a good deed and you may call upon our aid when you need it the most. Farewell... for now."
The bright light appears once again and the dwarfs are gone.

"-I'm hungry, but this might not be the best place to start a fire." mutters Deiwos and they set off towards the surface.

Not sure about this one, but the "Deep Rothe" (the hairy buggers) left something skinnable.

Talan > You're right about the content of the video. I don't think it's suppose to inform more than it is suppose to enlighten people about the concept of trusted computing.

So people, put on your tinfoil hats and google "trusted computing"

CNR Suggestions/Discussion / RE: Jack of all trades....
« on: September 08, 2005, 06:49:00 am »
Perhaps you could only specialize in one tradeskill, lets say armor crafting.
When you have choosen the tradeskill for your character, all other tradeskills would be capped at a certain craftinglevel (5 for example), and you can only advance in your chosen tradeskill above craftinglvl 5.

That way a scribe would have to buy scrolls from the baker and the the weaponsmith buy his axehandles from a woodcrafter.

Yes. These are excellent. Very good job on these. I really like the parchement look and the details.
