Brother almost revealed my identity to some powerful and angry mage today, I fear it was the wrong time of the month for her, I think I shall seek out less travelled pastures, this city is too restrictive and too crowded I seek seclusion to pursue my work with enchanting.

Server Rules / Re: For those fast leveling characters out there
« on: December 02, 2007, 08:59:53 am »
I think people should look at this in two ways though, I love going in groups with many of certain parties and groups that I feel fit my character and his philosophies, charging valiently into combat to save a friend and so forth. I had a great and constructive RP session with the goblin tribe who I fit in really well with, but if there is no one I can find to party with what else can I do but either craft or kill nonstop? Many of the times I'm on the Americans are in bed so it'd me and 1-2 others....

However, I cannot help but feel that many of the higher level characters want to protect their turf.

Me and a friend recently joined Layonara, and we don't want to powerlevel, but just get high enough so we can explore the world and its rich histories more and also so we can actually join groups. Majority of the time any group I join I either just sit there and watch, or die; neither of which is fun. Many of the players here are already quite high levels so it doesn't apply to them the whole 'going slow' philosophy. But for the record I am against powerlevelling, but also don't forget the new and little people!

And anyone who has me met and my ingame brother will know that we both RP our characters heavily along alignments, beliefs and so forth, even to the point of calling one another brother. It is also worth noting that some people have no life, as of Monday I will be playing some 10-12 hours a day, so under those circumstances wouldn't I level a lot faster anyways, even with full RP and everything else. I agree with characters that just kill and kill some more, but what about people who do RP who write journals (I've made 6 posts so far in 1 week) but just play a lot?

Worked with a goblin named Shall, he was picked on by a group of so called noblemen and a bunch of doo-gooder self righteous fools. My disdain for the world grows ever more and my new found brotherhood is growing into a more sustainable relationship. I begin to see things much more their way.

I think residents of Adelaide and those of Germany are held in a similar regard by the rest of the world. Yes, that was purposely phrased that way! :P

Not quite sure what that means, perhaps clarify....

As I understand, how long it continues depends upon donations from members? Correct me if I'm wrong.

The major change will be a new game.

I think the prices vary. i bought a Badge for 700 true and ox for 80 true. Which character were you using?

I had some ranks in appraise and 12 chr, I got mine for 500. I made a character with a higher charisma, intelligence and wisdom, despite being a mage my aim was for a character with a force of personality, I think though that the abilities all stack for certain things such as enchanting? I have 25% chance on some higher up enchanting things and I havn't even started trying yet hrmz.

Today I met a member of a temple of Corath, I heard his view of his church and I was impressed with the idea of survival and order according to my ideologies, I will further investigate this idea with this church to see what they're about and what they believe. They offered an alternative and are the first ones not to judge my only friend and familiar and also the first ones to accept my beliefs and ideals and not judge me also. Perhaps this is a place for me to find friends and belonging after losing so much, time will tell.

I had a conversation on the lawlessness of the living existence and how this is such a horrid travesty to all that stands for law and order with a goblin today and also a dwarf sorceror, the sorceror was quite charismatic but lacked any brainpower so I cannot blame her for not understanding. The goblin quite simply didn't care and seemed more interesting in drawing non sensical symbols on the ground, I didn't catch their names but I think I shall hear from them again.

I recieved yet more disdainful looks, hatred and bigotry due to my long time friend and companion Hand, this leads me again to question the integrity of so called good-dooers who it seems base things on appearance more than their juxtoposed counterparts, who seem to be more concerned with the inner alignment and goals, irrespective of superficial concerns such as appearances.

I am led henceforth to question if the so called goodness of this new land is merely due to covered and secret desires masked behind or hidden behind a veil of greatness and virtue. I resisted the evil allure of my homeland many a time, but there was in it, an honesty and a virtue as the laws of existence were quite well defined, the struggle for betterment, the consistancy of the lies and deceit, the honesty of existence as a struggle for the lawful existence of existence itself versus morality as a justification of existence.

I have written more than I intended these past few days, so I will leave it as it is.

General Discussion / Re: Palemaster

It depends what level you are at.....

A level 10 pm/ 20 wizard is superior to a level 30 wizard because level based bonus's generally end as of level 20, with the exception of a few (horrid wilting), so as a result it really is beneficial, but only in the long term, according to my opinion.

So if I'm right, the palemaster continues to gain points towards efective caster level (SR) but loses the additional damage. But, this means that a level 20 wizard/10pm will end up with the maximum anyways, not to mention the whole slew of abilities and immunities the class gets, I think it's an excellent roleplaying class.

It's possible to get things "taken back," though it's an arduous process on both your end and the Team's. Moreover, the CDQ(s) you'll be doing to become a palemaster are part of your character's story. If you do all that, then decide the mechanical benefits of palemaster aren't up to par, it's like you just tossed out that part of your character's life, that part of his/her story. Not to mention the hours wasted on something you decide not to pursue because it didn't give you the mechanical benefit you were after. Still, it's good you ask now, so you can be sure that it's the route you want to take.

In general, if you're taking the class more for the mechanical (out-of-character) benefits than for the character/social/political (in-character) benefits, then I'd suggest reconsidering taking the class at all. Obviously, we take classes for their mechanical benefits; it's just that the mechanical benefit of the class should be subject to character and story development.

Also, I've updated the [LORE]Pale Master[/LORE] page to reflect the questions you brought up.

If you take a look at my character story it's very integral to his development and belief system. I just don't want to be the character losing all 10 soul fragments and be permanently dead....To me the RP is the most important, that and I don't see any PM on the server :D lol jk. To me the Palemaster is already a power hit, which I was fine with but no spells at all makes it very underpowered I think.

I fairly sure* it's extra spells every two levels (but at odd PM levels - 1, 3, 5, etc).

*I qualify this guess with an admission that I am often wrong.

Just in case, if I go PM and it doesn't work, can I get the level taken back? After CDQ's and so forth?

I agree, besides I only give up divination.

Oh it's worth noting that for the moment I'm living in Germany ^^.

Well the RP of a specialist should trump the mechanical usefulness part. ;)

You do get 1 bonus spell/level which is awesome.

But besides that, I agree with the RP, it makes my character more unique than the generic mage and I'm happier with the RP ability. Besides it makes a story easier for me to make and fits in with my current story ideas.

That's no problem, I understand that some people will seek to avoid or misuse the system and as such you will have to force rules in the interests of consistancy and avoiding abuse.

Can you chose opposition schools in Layonara also, or are they hard coded?

Ok thanks, I read it already but I wans't sure of how it worked exactly in pen and paper generally you have no penalties when ressurected but penalties if not of course (that is staying dead) but however you tend to die a lot easier in NWN.

What I was thinking is a character with evenly 'maxed' charisma, intelligence and wisdom but very low strength, dexterity and constitution as this fit my character story better than higher abilities, i.e. the story revolving around a character his physical body is withered and useless but who has a strong mind and force of personality.

Well I'll try to make it according to the specs, but is there flexibility like in normal DnD if I have a good backstory?

Searching for ultravision and death armour. Along with a wide assortment of level 3 and 4 spells, message here if you have some and we can negotiate a price. I would also like a copy of dispel magic.
