Wild Surge Inn / RE: To Halflings and Others of Proper Stature

*scribbled in dwarven below*

To my kinfolk, I say this:

For us to overlook our smaller cousins would be a mistake.  How many times have the dwarves been misjudged because of our stature?  Let us not make the same error.

Where ale has been spilled, blood soon follows.

If trouble comes, treat the wee folk as kin.  They may act like annoying younger siblings, but they feel like family.

Wild Surge Inn / RE: The Leilon Arms
« on: August 06, 2005, 08:48:00 am »
I found the Leilon Arms to offer fine entertainment, company, and service.  Demand for their fine brews is high so arrive early for their shows.  The establishment is finely furnished, though some rearrangement of their lounge may be necessary.  The proprietor has assured me that the bar is being restocked and the seating area reorganized.  I look forward to their next event!

*Letter Posted from Rilara*

I've discovered markers around Rilara where members of our number have fallen.  If more than one of our band has business on this continent, perhaps we should meet by the docks of Port Harbour.  I am quite mystified as to how our comrades came to harm, as they met their fate in spots I had previously considered safe.  Of course, I found myself assaulted by a ranger for no apparent reason, beyond setting foot in the same woods as he.

I await word of our next meeting.

Wild Surge Inn / RE: Meeting of the Dwarves
« on: August 01, 2005, 03:39:00 pm »
May I suggest making one of these meetings during a different time frame?  The same time, two days in a row, is not likely to gather many more together.

Also, I never enter the Grey Peaks alone if I can help it.  Gathering at Fort Llast for the journey may be wise.

Wild Surge Inn / RE: Miner guild
« on: July 25, 2005, 11:05:00 am »

While I can occassionally find a brave group of adventures willing to explore the depths of Haven's mine, it seems to me that the supply of iron is quite insufficient.  Metals and minerals are difficult to acquire, and the prices of crafters that have inventory in stock reflect this.  I am thinking that a more formal organization of miners is needed.  A guild would be able to organize regular expeditions, which would make materials available on a regular basis.  Gunther and I talked about some ideas at our first meeting, and I am wondering if there are others of the same opinion.

"A glorious end like that is almost enough to tempt me to a life on the high seas.  I shall have to take to the water someday to see if the tales I hear are true." *hoists an ale in toast*

Ask the gods to rid you of a pesky piece of furniture, and next thing you know, your house is burning down.

I'm suffering from a crippling amount of lag when I enter the Sielwood and game halting problems in the Broken Forest.  I love the look of this tileset, but is there anything I can do to improve the performance of my machine?  These are the only areas where this problem occurs, so before my character develops a fear of trees, I'd like some advice.

Consult a wizard.  If a magic vortex has appeared in your armoir causing it to stick, you may not want to move it. I'm told that cursed furniture can be very dangerous.   :o

General Discussion / RE: hatred
« on: July 15, 2005, 05:08:00 pm »

Racial hatred certainly fits into the context of a fantasy role-playing world.  Attacking a person because they belong to the same race as individuals who have committed wrong is an act of selfishness.  It directs blame at a person who may be entirely blameless in order to satify a misguided sense of pride or justice.

Using the alignment system as a guide, it can be described as evil.

Feel free to role-play your character however you choose.  Be prepared to accept the consequences.

I suggest we hold regular meetings to form small groups for the various tasks that participants want to accomplish.  We will work best in small groups.  One group could form and go mining while another banded together to destroy some threat.  In this manner, even less experienced adventures could also attend in order to meet and go train together.

Such gathering at the inn could become the perfect place to find heroes willing to aid in various quests and endeavors.

Bah!  Even an apprentice like myself knows that tin is a useless soft metal.  If you can't find a master to teach you what to use it for, just remember that some metals are no good by themselves.

CNR Suggestions/Discussion / RE: Why I absolutely hate CNR
« on: June 22, 2005, 03:58:00 pm »
I recall a saying, "Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want."  If you gave experience for failure instead of success, characters would learn very quickly at first but find mastering their craft very difficult.  I think the idea has merit, but I'm just getting started.  Don't turn the system on its head just on my account.   ;)
