Something else that might interest you is that this is a Roleplay Server. Unlike most/all other MMORGs you may have played this one is actually all about Roleplaying. What you will find is that players you encounter will be "In Character" all the time.
If you have never played in an environment like this you are in for a real treat.

I have noticed, very recently with my playing on Layonara, an influx of evil-wanabes. Those people that put dark, black, scary clothes on and growl and glare and yell and scream at all those around them. Exclusion here is Derrick. We love that teddy bear of a man! Har! A dark, twisted, drunken, spikey, dual sword weilding, homicidal Teddy Bear. . . Har! I don't wear dark clothes and growl and glare at people because I'm evil... I do it because it's fun Har!

The Dark Armored figure limps slightly as he makes his way down the peir on the docks in Leilon. The docks are busy with the sound of hammers and yelling sailors. Cargo is loaded and unloaded. As he leaves the peir and makes his way through the crowded merchant district he is greeted by many passersby.
"Mr. Loadson!"
"Derrick good to see you."
"Will the Inn be open soon? I have a mighty thirst!"
"Har! Derrick!"
But others shun him... or skitter from his path.
Some. . . watch him from the shadows. . .
Derrick reaches the Leilon Arms and inserts a heavy iron key into the lock. He stops and smells the air... something familiar. *he shakes his head and opens the door.
The Leilon Arms... Home.
As he sits down the heavy packs one of them opens slightly and several chestnuts spill onto the floor. "Stupid Trolls..." Derrick mutters as he moves to retreive the chestnuts. He winces and grins as the pain reminds him of the cost the Trolls exacted from him for his prize.
He turns to the water barrel and pulls back his hood. Running some water into his hands he rinses his face. The water mingles with the dried blood on his lips and turns red as it splatters on the floor. He fills his hands again and rinses his face again this time pushing back the unkempted blond hair from his eyes... blond hair that is streaked with gray...
*Winces
"Stupid Trolls..."
Derrick grabs his packs and heads toward the kitchen. As he passes the bar he sees a note placed in a familiar spot. Without looking... he knows the author... and most likely what it will say. Once again droping the packs he picks up the letter and reads... at one point a slight smile spreads across his lips, which looks more like a sneer/smile because of the scars.
Derrick will play... Har! Maybe I will auction off the Leilon Arms Har!
*makes a note to "untune" the piano...
*makes another note to gut Quin should he show up
Auction off Cole... Har! I'll save that one fer Kali... Har!

Just voted. I didn't see a section that showed rankings but... in the lower left hand corner of the site there are five servers listed and Layonara is second from the top. GO LAYO!

I Transversed the Swamp of Lost Souls on Rilara enduring Hammer of the Gods spam from the friendly Troll Shamans to gather chestnuts in order to brew Dwarfs Head Ale for the Leilon Arms. =D

Slept for a few hours…
Drug myself out of bed to work out at 4:00a…
Left Frederick, MD at 5:30a heading to work in DC… sat in traffic (yes bumper to bumper at 5:30a every weekday oh joy) a trip that should only take 20 minutes… takes 45 minutes..
Hopped on the Metro and read the paper as I listened with glee to all the morning rail delays…
Got a free Oatmeal raisin cookie when I got off the Metro.. SCORE!!!
Walked the last block and a half to my office completing my morning 1.5 hour commute and plopped down in front of my PC to read through the morning barrage of email and started scanning the Layo Forums. . . =)

Nice developement thread. Great story telling. One thing you might want to work on is your connection with the longsword and it's use. While your story mentions the sword of your father, perhaps a link could be made with your father's use of the longsword and craft of the longsword than the particular blade itself. My character Derrick worked at smithing to better understand the longsword. Here is my Weaponmaster PRC Approval. I have a nice Iron Rapier for you. I did not make it... but I can attest to it's quaility by first hand account and... the previous owner has no further use for it.
Fer payment... I believe some singin will do for a few weeks at the Leilon Arms. Let me know and we can work out an arrangement.
An... dunna worry about the quality of yer singin. . . either way you will get the rapier. . .
