NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Re: Reworking the Sneak System?

Sneaking in Layonara is somehow a bit of a unused idea. All rogues have points in it, but what good does it really do? You can go into a room and see how many there are, but you can't really do anything. I like it for roleplay, but perhaps there is a way to make the sneak attack something you can do while sneaking?

I agree mechanically it does not work the best and is the nature of the beast we call NWN. The good thing is that GMs can make things happen the way we want if given notice of a character's intent before hand. Mind you that is only when a GM is around and usually means you are on some sort of quest.

You will be surprised some of the crazy idea you guys come up with while we run quests. What is even crazier is that you manage to pull them off. Just remember their is more to this then just NWN mechanics. I know I reward characters who think and act outside the mechanical system.

Ask A Gamemaster / Re: LORE lacking... LORE
« on: January 19, 2013, 07:28:45 pm »
A lot of Lore had to be rewritten due to some people leaving and they did not want their contributions added. So we had to go back and rewrite a lot of lore I mean a lot of Lore. We now have it so people who contribute to Lore, agree that the Lore they add stays. Secondly they only have a few part time people writing lore and then it needs to get approved before it gets added for the public to see.

Any way that is the simple answer and easy answer. I'm sure if you dig through the forums you will find the detailed reasons as to why Lore is not all available. You are welcome to apply to be a writer and help increase the Lore we have.

Ask A Gamemaster / Re: Unarmed combat
« on: December 08, 2012, 11:38:40 am »
Sorry to say this version of D&D that Never Winter is based on does not allow for a mechanically useful unarmed character outside of a Monk / Sacred Fist. Later versions of D&D do though. You can still make the character and RP him out, you will be surprised what a well Rp'd character can accomplish in this world.

Fixed Bugs / Re: Silver Buckle Clinic - Alters

Extra altars removed from Silverbuckle Inn (owner ID "Ya Mama").  DM Furniture Tool -> Destroy on all 3.  Should not respawn again.

That is odd as I remember placing the altars and then getting rid of them before the quest started. Also I never use deeds when placing items as a DM. It is a lot easier to use the tools provided. I'll see if I can recreate what I did to see where I went wrong.

I just checked it out and yes Maestro is correct. Their is a link on the page that links to all the domains, so not a huge issue.

This is what I see: [Host Folder]

# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
#      102.54.94.97     rhino.acme.com          # source server
#       38.25.63.10     x.acme.com              # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
#    127.0.0.1       localhost
#    ::1             localhost

Where do I add this line?  And do I put a # before it?

I had the same thing. Just add the line to the bottom and save. The # sign in front of each line tells the computer to ignore that line. By adding the line it gives it something to do.

I had to make sure I had admin rights in order to save the file.

P.S. I was using Windows 7 64 bit.

That really does look like something a Shadonite would make. Very powerful yet humiliating to wear, on hit looses all magical properties.

First off I have to mention Beli's mentor and the one who showed me the ropes. LORE: Garnet Stonesmythhy followed by
LORE: Sallaron Tempest who joined Layo at the same time as me and Beli's favorite friend.
LORE: Varka Cleaveson was and still is the dwarven anchor and major influence for all my dwarven characters
LORE: Jennara Creekskipper for simply being who she is and setting a fine example
LORE: Andrew William Reid for simply being awesome at RP and his general creativity

lastly LORE: Pen N Popper has a way of making any character at any level become special and interesting.

I would like to point out that all of these people influenced me before their individual characters made level 20.

Special mention goes to GMs Minerva and Harlas Ravelkione who helped influence my characters and made me better at RP.

Looks like I have two problems. First one was the memory voltage causing BSOD, second is video card causing NWN to crash. I have no more BSOD. But I still get the open gl error while playing NWN.
