Her journey started in Center. Taking to the sky she set off on her journey. She flew high into the sky, climbing higher and higher until the clouds were beneath her. Flew out over the ocean to the east, wings spread wide, feeling the air all around her; feeling free. She flew for what seemed an eternity, and dove down below the clouds finding a fleet of merchant ships below her she decided it was time for a break. She landed on one of the great masts and settled in for the night. Suddenly her reverie was interrupted as a cage door was slammed shut around her. "Gotcha" said the sailor, "always wanted me a parrot.".  Knowing full well that she would be fine, she cawed and squawked "Gimme a cracker".
She rode out the rest of the journey over the ocean in the cage, listening to the crew and watching their behaviors. The ship finally came to dock in Hurm. The sailor gathered his things and his newly caged parrot and disembarked from the ship. He was talking to the dock hands when it happened, and the look on the dock hands face made him glance down at the cage. Del had turned into a snake and was slithering out of the cage and into the grass and was gone before they could say "What?!". Chuckling to herself and slithering away rapidly she set out for the Thunder Peaks.
Now assuming the form of a cat, she slowly slunk through the city of Dalanthar and over the bridge. Bending and twisting her form grew larger and she started bounding up the rocks pouncing back and forth and up higher and higher as the muscles of the panther rippled in the moonlight.  She finally reached the top.
She lay down on the mountain top realizing that she had just made a journey most would consider impossible, especially in the short time it took her to do it. She closed her eyes and let her thoughts and her senses spread out far over the world. Far as she could imagine. Then she realized, it wasn't the shape that mattered to her, it was the journey that she loved.
She rose the next day and started down the mountain. All of the thoughts of her adventures running through her head she forgot where she was. She walked straight into a camp of storm giants. Before she knew what was happening she heard a booming voice say "Cruush you flat!" and a giant foot kicked her into the side of the mountain...
As the life drained out of her, she realized something... she had finally found the shape of the ooze...
She closed her eyes and when next she opened them she was reading the inscription of the bindstone in the whiterun.

Name: Kendar Lightfingers
Age: 98
Class(es): Ranger / Rogue
Race: Gnome
Subrace (if applicable): Forest Gnome
Alignment: TN
Deity (if devoted): Katia
Domains (if cleric): N/A
Biography and Description:

Kendar's younger years were spent fooling around with friends and playing pranks on one another.
Kendar seemed to have a nack for slipping things out of people's pockets, or taking things out of people's baskets
even if they were looking in the same direction as the baskets. Kendar never used his skill to actually steal things,
it was more fun to take the things and then ask them if anything was missing, and then point to where he had set it down.
He would do this over and over to the point that people became annoyed with him. Having him in your house meant looking for
that tool you knew you just had sitting in front of you on the desk... only to find it half way across the room on the shelf.

Kendar also had a nack for asking annoying questions all of the time.
His curiosity had no match.

When Kendar turned 60, it was time for him to learn the family traditions. His family were defenders of the forests they lived in,
and so he was taught the ways of the ranger by his mother and father. It was this training that would change his life forever.

Many years went by, Kendar was now 70, he was nearly finished with his training.
Kendar and his parents were out for their normal training routines and routes along the borders of their territories when Kendar
heard some noises coming from just past the clearing in the forest. Curiosity getting the better of him, he decided to investigate.
He slowly circled the clearing making sure to stay in the cover of the trees, when he heard what sounded like a wounded deer struggling.
Kendar rushed around each tree dipping and dodging brush and fallen branches. Then he saw it; someone had put out a trap, and the deer had
managed to step right into it. Kendar moved quickly ahead to free the animal but he never made it. Three steps into his forward stride he suddenly
found himself in the air, caught by a net. He struggled for a while trying to reach his knife but before he could free it from his boot he heard voices.
Three men came out of the trees, and one clubbed him over the head. "I got me one!" was the last thing he heard.

Kendar woke up surrounded by metal bars, in a small cage. All around him there were other cages, big, small, and in between. All of them were full of
other people of various races that had been met with the same misfortune. All of the cages were full except for one very small cage. Kendar did not know what would fit inside a cage that small other than a cat perhaps. Kendar then realized that his cage had been set up higher than the rest of the cages, all of them except for the tiny cage.

A few days past. Kendar awoke this morning to the sound of a half orc telling a very small looking man to shut up or he'd sew his mouth shut.
The tiny man's voice was very strange and he was kicking and yelling at the half orc that had him by the neck, holding him in the air.
The half orc pushed the tiny man into the tiny cage and Kendar realized that there was much about the world he did not know.

Most of the larger people that were caged with them were taken out of the cages daily, shackled, and led to the mines to work. At night they were brought back and thrown back into their cages. Kendar had learned that the tiny man was named Luidan and that he was of a race called brownie. Kendar and Luidan were the only two who didn't seem to be pulled from the cages to work. For years now people came by and poked them with sticks and told them to dance. It was really getting on Luidan's nerves. While they danced in the small cages the people would laugh at them and then move on.
One night Kendar awoke to a strange noise. He looked around, and at first saw nothing unusual. He looked over to Luidan's cage and the tiny man was up to something. It was then that Kendar realized that the lock on the tiny cage wasn't a tiny lock, but the same lock that was on his cage. The tiny man had a small piece of metal in his hands and had nearly his whole arm shoved inside the lock.

"What are you doing?" Kendar whispered hard.
"I'm getting out of here" replied Luidan, "Are you coming with me, or do you plan to dance your life away?".
Just then the lock on Luidan's cage popped open.
"I'm in" Kendar said quickly.

Luidan picked the lock on Kendar's cage in no time and they began their escape.

It wasn't easy for them to escape, and while they made their way they set many traps, picked many locks and Luidan taught Kendar the skills he needed to do these things. They finally made their way out, and left the cave. Heading down the road they came into view of city gates. Looking ahead they saw a sign posted along the road.
It said "Katherian"

Neither of them having any idea where they were, or how to get home from where they were, they started walking away from the road towards the trees.
"There they are! Get them!" they heard someone scream and saw several orcs pouring out of the cave behind them.
Quickly they both ran, faster and faster. When they finally stopped and felt safe that they weren't being followed, they both realized, they had run in different directions.

Kendar searches for his home.

Del decided that her soul must be like this creature; without form. She started a journey to a high mountain to meditate on this for a while.
She had to learn to become this creature inside, and then outside. Doing this could mean taking any form.

5
Del came back to Center many times and started to feel at home. She met a few other people that could speak the animal language and started to make friends.
She met a lot of people that actually cared about the forest and the animals and beasts that lived in them. Del took up adventuring with some of her new friends and learned a lot about the areas surrounding Center. Del began to miss the forest, however, and soon returned to looking for the stalker that was killing her people. Del began to study all of the animals she came across, their movements, their manerisms, their shapes, smells, habits. She practiced changing into many of them and began to feel more at home.
She soon ran out of animals to study and decided to look at other beasts that roamed the lands.
Try as she may, she could not assume any of their forms. One day Del came across a cave near Vehl. Upon going inside Del found the most interesting of creatures to study. It seemed to have no form. It had no eyes yet it could find her easily. It had no ears yet seemed to hear her movements.

6
Deldhin'el (Del) comes across a small village. Seeing no sign of guards in metal armor carrying metal death sticks she decides to approach. She takes the form of a small black cat and pounces from the base of one tree to the next.
Del rounds a group of trees quietly and finds herself staring face to face with a woman sitting on a log next to a fire.
She freezes in her tracks and quickly tries to decide what to do; but before she has a chance to withdraw from the situation, the woman starts talking to her;
in the language of animals. Shocked Del again freezes and takes a second look at this strange female and notices that she has pointed ears. The ears are not quite as pointed as Del's ears but pointed none the less. Del decides to talk with this strange lady and finds out that her name is Talia. Talia tells her that the village she has found is called Center, and many people gather around the fire for tales of adventure and trade.
Del decides that the village can't be too terribly bad if there are kind people speaking in the language of animals, and then scampers off into the woods before Talia can learn too much about her.
She thinks about coming back to this village later on.

Definitely try to run it on your current system and see how it performs.  Alternatively, look at Ubuntu which it appears NWN EE runs on natively. Then I would use Wine to run your on-prem Office software. No costs above the NWN EE costs.

I didn't have much luck with wine to play Diamond, but I found a slick program called "Porting Kit" that uses wine wrappers but it's all tweaked for the game.  Hope it helps...

Wine runs diamond out of the box.

I only run linux.... so I run nwn original on linux natively, as well as Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition Digital Delux (x2) on my machine (you can run about 10 copies of the game before you can start to slow down a geforce 1070). I've got an optiplex 745 slim i use as a server, you can play nwn on it run 2 nwn servers, and possibly EE on it if you buy a slim card. not sure if you have the slim models or not

Wonder if cheaper to buy Win7 (x2) and two graphics cards?  We'd need miscrosoft office for Word and Excell.
I would -not- buy windows 7, you're going to end up in the same situation down the road. Windows 7 is near it's EOL... If i was you I'd get Lubuntu (you don't want to run unity on that old hardware trust me) and run vmware for your M$ office suite. you can install and run windows xp and your office using virtual box or vmware or qemu.
you can run MS office in wine, and Excell. Open office can handle anything they put out I believe, but I wouldn't use Open Office, I'd use libreoffice

Ask A Gamemaster / Re: Chakar's Will
« on: March 08, 2019, 10:07:52 pm »
Chakar was Glitch'nich's first teacher, and Glitch'nich learned a ton about fighting from him. After the formal training in the arena, Chakar and Glitch'nich traveled many places. In now what I know was Chakar's later life, they traveled the deep together. It was only about a week between their last trip to the deep and Chakar's demise.

On the OOC side of things, I asked Chakar's advice before taking any levels.

Glitch'nich doesn't need another house, but would have been honored if his mentor would have confered an heirloom to him after the way of tea.

Glitch'nich had a lot of respect and admiration for Chakar even though he was a human and was not aware that chakar was so close to death.
Glitch'nich was shocked (as was I) to see that Chakar died (because he'd never said anything about it) and very displeased. With his mentor gone glitch has shut a part of himself down. He travels less, and creates more.

At some point in Glitch's relationship with Chakar he was told that if Chakar died he would inherit Chakar's belongings as Chakar had no offspring to give them to and Glitch was his only apprentice.

I had to remind Chazzler 12 times to post about the will after Chakar's death... so it's no surprise that he didn't actually remember to write one before his death.
I don't think about such things myself, as it's a fantasy world and most people don't think about this sort of thing until after the fact.

If such things were allowed in character here, Glitch'nich would have gone through the house to find something to remember Chakar by after hearing of his death. However that would be viewed as stealing, a bannable here.

I am not sure what the bond from Chakar's side was for glitch, but glitch would always look for chakar, and wish for him when he wasn't around. (Now I understand why he wasn't around much, SS and all.)

What ever the decision is about the will, may it be fair to all.

Fixed Bugs / Re: Whirlwind attack bug?

Should be fixed now, script was updated dynamically. After the whirlwind you will need to re-engage an enemy.

Thanks Orth, this is fixed.
On a side note it might need a bit of timing tweeking for layo... or I could just be lagging.
I'll let you know after far more use cases.
