I've had this idea for a while now and wanted to ask if it would be okay to do this. The idea is a chest (either placed like in Center) or in a house/shop.Example: My character places an item in the chest with a value of 4 gp acording to Lens of Pricing. Player X comes along and decides he/she wants this item. But for them to take it they must place a new item in said chest that is greater than 4 gp (according to Lense of Pricing). The next person comes along and wants this new item... so they again must place another item of a higher value still. This goes on and upwards and hopefully some neat and fun trades come from it. A parchment will be placed inside explaining the rules of the trade as well.I realize placing a chest outdoors runs the risk of it and its contents being erased on a server crash/reset. So I figured the safest place to do one would be indoors using a furniture placeable chest.... but if the item you're trading in gets erased by a server reset whats the difference than if the next guy came along and traded it right?I wanted to run this past the GM team before hand to be sure something like this would be allowed. ThanksG-452
Happ Hazzard stops by the Wild Surge Inn in Hlint for a hot meal and a warm bed for the night. He talks to those willing to listen about recent events in the Haven iron mines... About a beautiful seer trying to help "her"...and tremors inside the mines... Gnolls and a nearly overpowering stench of mold and decay inside the mines... About pools of foul liquid with flies boiling up out of them. He goes on to mention recently being in Folians vale of the Silkwood Forrest and even feeling the tremors there. He spoke to the local temple and they said the tremors were happening fairly regularly of late but they didn't seem to alarmed by them.
This talk of the (possible) end of NWN Layo made me think of this question today. What is on your NWN (version of) Layo bucket list for any or all of your characters? Those who dont know what a bucket list is... its something you want to do before you "kick the bucket" (die)

After the post last night about the servers in jeopardy due to financial reasons I posted a little in that thread about what I thought are the best ways to help get interest up... which hopefully would get donations up. I want to continue those ideas... and hopefully other peoples ideas here, rather than clutter up that thread. First off I am a firm beleiver that the NWN version of Layo only has one chnace at a future, and that is in its past. Plast players to be more specific. You are going to have a hard time pulling people away from all the bigger, faster, more shiney MMO and gaming options available. But if you can rekindle that old flame in the people who made this place what it once was you can keep it alive. How to do that? I don't know for sure (though I will share my own ideas) but I do know every singler person who quit playing did so for a reason(s). What were they? Are they things we can fix? Have already fixed. Will consider fixing? Ideas to consider making permanent changes. Double the Fortune rate or more for people casual playing... IMO quest reward Fortune is pretty good now. Those fortunate enough to get on the very few quests these days are really racking up Fortune! Those who get to play alone or in a group for a couple hours... well... the rate now is next to worthless IMO.Double the EXP rate (or more) especially for players say under 15... I know we already adjusted the rate of EXP for the low end... it needs it more. It is just to daunting to grind away alone or a group grinding over and over at the same handfull of areas untill you finally get that "DING!"Reduce the 3 million gap from level 20 to 21. Put it higher than the gaps above 21 and so on... but under 3 million... its just silly! It had its purpose when people were literally becoming level 40 in a couple months. But now... it's just an incermountable wall.Remove the SS system. This system is outdated and no longer needed in this version of Layo. It too had its purpose when players did not respect death. But now... instead it has caused players to leave. It has caused players to not want to play for fear of a crappy dice roll. I know the % odds were changed and that is a good thing!!! But even that doesnt save you from a crappy dice roll and poof there goes your character you've invested months, YEARS creating and falling madly in love with.Increase the amount of high end CNR (more places to find it)... Decrease the difficulty and TIME required to reach it... like Mithril & Emeralds... who has 3 to 6 hours to go for it? Not many.. and not near as many as once did, clearly! ( Or put in a call home feature for all players) Do all the above and let the players who left know about it.....Get some GM events going again (get some GM's first).Continue to "improve" this version with new areas, items, content. I beleve you would see servers populated most hours of the day... instead of now where they are empty or next to empty. I welcome others to share what they think would draw players back again as well!.
Hello players of Layonara. I have a few questions for you today. I am on the Layo project/content team and I am presenting these questions to the player base with the hopes of finding areas in need of changes for various reasons. With that said... please lets not get into asking for Mithril placed in the Red Light Caves, or Emeralds outside Hlint. I also request that we don't get into a discussion / arguing of other peoples ideas if we can help it. Also to be clear we may or may not implement changes folks request. We have to consider a great number of things with each change proposed to ensure balance and all that stuff you know! Question 1: What places don't you go to with any or all of your characters that you would like to? Why?Question 2: What areas would you like to see changes made to? Some examples of "changes". Different creature spawns in an area(s), relocated creature spawns, added CNR, moved CNR, quest series related changes to area(s), changes to the look, feel, sounds of areas that never made sense to you... or the area(s) you feel needs a fresh(er) look. Or other changes you'd like to see made & why please. Thanks for you timeG-452
Hey Layo I forgot to send you an Anniversary card. We have been together for 10 years sometime around October 3rd thru the 5th (cant remember exactly). Its been a fun road... even just this morning I had a weird dream I was sitting at a campfire with the people who play Gorm, LLu (8-bit) and Rhizome (Matt). Made me feel all nostalgic so I had to log in today. Feel free to share your Anniversary dates & stories etc on here too! G-452

Scribble Cloak for auction. Starting bid 6,000 True. Raises in increments of 500 True (or more). Auction closes in a few days don't miss out! //Level 8 to Equip.
//Auction will close Noon (Central USA) Monday 11/26. If any bid is placed in the last day (Monday) the auction is automatically extended for 24 hours. This is to allow people that are outbid a chance to see they've been outbid and big again if they choose to. Any questions, please P.M. me.

Description: Gorm and I discovered that on every crafting station we accessed today if what you wanted to craft was on page 2 or further back the names associated with each number were missing. If you clicked a number it would say its item then... but that leaves one to do much random clicking to find what they wanted to craft. (see screen shot link)
Location: Every crafting menu that has an option for "next"
Verified: Gorm and I both can produce this bug.

Basic armor anvil
Copper shields - I only have a choice to craft a small copper shield. No choice for Large or Tower.
Bronze Shields - I only have a choice to craft a small bronze shield. No choice for Large or Tower.
Iron Shields - I have a choice for Small and Large. No choice for Tower
Platinum Shields - I only have a choice for Tower shield. No choices for Small or Large. Also clicking on Plat shields causes the following error message(s) to pop up 4 times.
cnr_ta_r_red, OID: 80004949, Tag: cnrAnvilArmor, ERROR: DIVIDE BY ZERO
cnr_ta_r_grn, OlD: 80004949, Tag: cnrAnvilArmor, ERROR: DIVIDE BY ZERO
Adamantium Shields - I only have a choice for small shield. No choice for Large or Tower
Cobalt - I have all 3 choices however when I click them it doesnt say how much Cobalt is needed for each recipe.
Mithril - I only have a choice for small shield. No choice for Large or Tower.
Helmets The lesser armor anvil has no choice for crafting helmets in any of the 4 metals used on said anvil (Copper, Bronze, Iron, or Platinum) I only have 2 choices once I add something and close the window. Choice #1 Shields. Choice #2 Armor.
The greater armor anvil has a section for helmets but the only choice is "Helm of the guard" I have no choice for Adamantium, Cobalt, or Mithril helmets at all.
Armor Dorg.. you know the issues with armor breastplate. Spoke to you about them over IRC tonight.
Location(s): Standard armor anvil in Hlint smithy (I assume in all crafting areas since its the same anvil. Master Anvil (hempsted hall of Dorand, again I assume it applies to all master anvils)
Reproducable: Yes, every time I access the anvil.
9 years ago today (or maybe yesterday lol) I applied to be allowed to join the Layonara forums. Yes, you had to apply to be a part of the forums back then... I think it was Fadrien Gweth (sp?) who I sent it to... lol.
A lot has changed in 9 years!
Here is to 9 more and then some!
Slogging it alone on a group friendly server is fun for all of 3.2 seconds... yes I've timed it.... and after the hundreths and some odd trip thru the redlights alone... its time to find another way.
I am looking for people who want to do stuff weekdays from Noon CDT to around 3PM CDT = 1PM EDT to 4PM EDT. Then again on some nights after 8 to 9 PM CDT to say Midnight CDT/
My characters who I'd like to use are:
Level 8 Barbarian Dwarf - Voraxian
Level 11 "Sledge" or Acolyte of Dorand
Member of Cailomels
If he isnt crafting its a good bet he is out getting materials to craft!
Level 19 - Rogue(7)/Fighter(12) - Working on becoming a WM (bastard sword)
Selfish & Mouthy, but she can back it up too!
Works for Saddlebag Pawn
(no deity )
I also have and can help with my other characters:
Level 31 - Ranger(23)/Cleric(8.) of Folian S'pae
Retired "Commander of the Wood" with the Wolfswood Ranger corps
"The Green Ranger" and renowned server of pies on trips thru "the deep"
level 13 - Ranger(12)/WM - Rapier(1)
Son of Enzo trying not to live in his fathers shadow.
(no deity listed but he pays respects to both Mist and Folian)
I havnt listed Andraia (19 Cleric of Kithairien) She may be on the chopping block soon.
My play style is probably on the bashy side with RP tossed in as things go along. That being said... I'm glad to help people with quests, getting to CNR, and just slogging it out to get to that next level.
If you see me on please drop me a PM if you're interested in doing something. Please understand outside of these time windows my answer will most times be I can't go... because RL will have me being MR Mom... making supper, chauffeuring etc. So dont think I'm not interested when I say I cant... its cause I dont have the time needed!
The main thing I don't like to do is travel with someone who isn't a fit with my characters(s) due to deity clashes. I dont like doing the whole "enemy of my enemy" so it must be ok thing. But even this rule I become flexible on when we have such a limited amount of people playing anymore. Aside from that... let's just see where things go!
See ya in game!

This is purely a cosmetic issue but any chance we can get some of the patrons of taverns like Center, Krandor, Hlint etc. to get some clothes other than the default leather armor (or hide)?
I'd be glad to take these areas and give some of the patrons other clothing if approved.
Tyvm for considering.

Most of the wood CNR is in bunches and understandably "guarded". What about a random tree of Hickory and Oak, maybe even Mahogany (on the higher end continents) placed around Mistone, Dregar, Alindor, Belinara etc? Im talking 1 tree versus now where most places trees are in pairs, or groups. Places that are not hard to get to... but also not super close to the crafting halls.
The same could apply to Metal ore, & minerals. We have caves etc that are virtually empty of CNR aside from say some dead fleas & bat poo. LOL Why not stick 1 Iron node in cave "X" that has no CNR, a Silver node in another etc.
Giving us more options of places to go and gather... or... while we are out exploring we can say... hey look! An oak tree! let me gather a few branches, or down in a cave... say, this Iron deposit looks promising.... since we're here might as well pick away at it.
The most someone can get from one ore or wood node is 11 (I think) and the least they can get is 1. So I dont see a few extra CNR deposits placed alone in new places being a big deal. Besides we all already know the gear system is kinda broken when it comes to demand since stuff lasts forever... so let the small time people have their shot at material too. Just single nodes with little difficulty... versus now where its multiple nodes and you gotta earn it by beating the mobs.
Thanks for considering this.

Could we put a simple addition to the dialogue of the ship captains.
Right now I can choose "Mariners Hold" from the Port Hempsted ship captain. Could we get it and others to change to be more like this.
Mariners Hold - Alindor
Giving folks an idea of what continent they are about to sail to. It's something people would know, should know anyway right? Unless they just like to pick destinations at random. LOL
I take this for granted since Ive known where the boats go for years now... but it really can be confusing for new players.
Thanks for considering this.
Players of Layonara know of the Points of Interest spread out across the continents. But I admit even I have just now discovered some of them after several years of time here.
What about a way to drop clues about these P.O.I's? I was thinking like quick blurbs from the town criers, or even say a painting on the wall of a tavern that mentioned some locale etc...
thanks for considering this
