//// completely OOC answer here: There aren't any truly outdoor crafting spaces, but there are a few places outside of cities, and there are a few options where a wemic would be accepted to craft.

First, both Center and North Point are settlements that would be accommodating and even accepting of a wemic among the population. Center is an amalgamation of all kinds of sentient species, and though individuals within the population may dislike or fear a wemic, your wemic wouldn't be ousted just for being a wemic.  North Point is a bastion of Aeridin and generally very accepting of anyone who presents themselves peacefully, especially those close to nature. Of course, your wemic would need to board a ship to reach North Point, and that may be another point of contention until your wemic has enough adventuring buddies who can vouch for Aziza.

Second, the locations outside of cities are generally focused on magic-related crafts, but they include the mage towers- there is one outside Falls Forest on Alindor on the way to Bydell castle, another off the path to Prantz from Castle Mask, and the last one being Moraken's tower outside Hlint.

The advanced craft halls are all in major cities, but by the time Aziza needs them, hopefully she has worked her way into reading and writing a language as well as garnered enough reputation to be accepted in the city. ////

Rumour Has It / Re: For travellers of lands afar: Fire in the Blood
« on: June 09, 2024, 11:56:47 am »
Sederen sandseers and allied mages were seen meeting with known and suspected stonebound. Officials around the world suspect it has to do with recruitment to fend off desert invaders. How many stonebound agreed to join the Sederens is unknown.

What is known is that an army of fiery beings has currently laid siege to Audira, and surrounds the city. Reports indicate the army consists of fire giants, fire elementals, beings that "walk" on fire instead of with legs, and other strange, deadly creatures. No demands have yet been made by this invading army, but the defenses of Audira are tested daily by the invaders.

The Sederens discovered this invading army weeks before it arrived at Audira. The origin of the "flamewalkers," as they are now being called, is unknown, but from all reports simply appeared in the middle of the Great Desert and began heading toward Audira. The Jnaar sent diplomats to meet with the flamewalkers' forces, but the flamewalkers slew all the messengers and diplomats. Bracing for war, Sedera reached out to its allies for military support. Trelania, Brelin, and the Boyers (including a contingent of dwarves from the Runic Anvil), all spared some forces to aid Audira. Despite not being official allies, Rael also sent forces to aid Audira, much like during the conflict with the Green Dragon Cult out of Kuhl. While not providing official aid, Succession allowed mercenary forces to join the allied forces in defending Audira.

All the aid, however, was projected to arrive after the flamewalker army arrived at the Sederen capitol. Dsen Ravorninin, the third son of the Jnaar and one of Sedera's military commanders, was tasked with finding a way to delay the invading army long enough for allied forces to arrive to fortify Audira. It's said that he lead a force of mercenaries that included a handful of veteran stonebound in multiple hit-and-run strikes against the flamewalkers. Using some manner of traps combined with magic that caused the sand around the flamewalker army to be disrupted on such a scale as to bury portions of the army, Commander Dsen was able to delay the forward progress of the flamewalkers long enough for allied reinforcements to arrive, preventing the feared loss of Audira to the flamewalkers. The Jnaar has commended the efforts of Dsen and the special forces he lead on what was expected to be a suicide mission.

The war, however, has just begun, so there is no time for celebration. So far, there is a stalemate between Sedera and the attacking flamewalkers. If the Jnaar doesn't find a way to defeat the invaders, it may be the end of Sedera, nevermind the threat these invaders may pose to surrounding kingdoms.

Character Submissions / Re: Alec the Mute: Resubmit for Wizard Levels
« on: April 09, 2024, 07:20:47 pm »
Recall that in NWN, unlike actual D&D, caster levels do not stack, so he would be, for instance, a 13th caster level for Cleric, and a 7th caster level for Wizard, but not a 20th level caster overall. You may know this already, and it's not necessarily pertinent to player rules here, but going backwards is harder than going forward in terms of approval, so I just want you to be sure this is the path you want to go.

Since you acknowledge that you must have at least five levels in each class before 20th, Aragen and Lucinda have a neutral standing with each other, Aragen has no specific multiclassing restrictions, and Wizard is a starting class, you are approved to take levels in Wizard.

Thanks to willhoff for the save! I just now saw this post, like two days later, heh.

@55060hacker, don't hesitate to ping me or another GM on Discord when you get stuck IG. We may or may not be able to pop in game right at that second, but I'll certainly hop on as soon as I can. I'm on Discord pretty much all the time thanks to the phone app, but I only remember to check the forums every few days, heh.

Character Submissions / Re: Character Submission - Reyne Sun-Badger
« on: April 06, 2024, 10:41:55 pm »
First, per https://wiki.layonara.com/wiki/Prestige_Class_Submission_Requirements, you'll need to resubmit for Sacred Fist when you're ready to take levels in it. Keep in mind you need at least five levels in any class taken before level 20.

Second, you are approved to play a Brownie with the Cleric class.

Third, see here for more info and the subrace code for Brownies: https://wiki.layonara.com/wiki/Brownie. If you have any issue applying the subrace, let us know.

Fourth, have fun! Looking forward to seeing the little lady in-game.  :)

Important Layonara Announcements / EXCITING COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT
« on: March 07, 2024, 02:20:04 pm »
1) Until further notice, exotic/restricted species/subspecies are open to submit new characters, with one exception...
2) Half races will no longer be approved (this does not apply to the one submission still in progress) due to the minimum age they would be at point of submission. This includes half orcs, half elves, and half giants.
3) The max number of characters per player has been increased to 10.

If you've had an idea for a new character, now's a good time to give it a go! Remember that some species/subspecies require a bit more backstory than your average, say, human fighter.

After review, this is approved.

Just a reminder that you need at least five levels of the Fighter class (which you indicated you plan to take six levels, so we're good there), and the precedent is to take the first five levels of Fighter consecutively.

See you in game!

General Discussion / Re: Character Development - State of CDQ and WLDQ
« on: January 04, 2024, 10:09:11 pm »
Given that there isn't a major world plot happening right now, I would definitely say that there are other ways of going about showing a character to have an impact on the world. These ways can of course include everything from journals and RP logs to any manner of quest involvement to CDQs designed to build toward something bigger. I would also definitely say being active in the community (which you are, Chuck) is a factor.

And let's face it. We do this stuff for the love of the characters and the world they inhabit, and subsequently for the stories that our characters both make and take part in. So any chance we get to play at those stories, I definitely vote that we take them.

For my part, at the end of February, I catch a break from coaching for about four months, so I plan to schedule and run some quests, and I'd just as soon build those quests around one of your character's ambitions as anything else.

If I recall correctly, it was started by Sehky and Elohanna. Sehky is still around, so you can message him (I'd suggest using Discord), though I don't think the guild has really been active in a long while. Not to say it couldn't become so again with a little time and attention by new members....

As a note, I've tried the old GM commands to fix Bron's phenotype, the GM tool (IG item) to change hos phenotype, the GM looms in the GM area, and the radial-dial character customization. None of it worked/had the option to change the phenotype.

General Discussion / Re: Use Magic Device

As the others have expressed, UMD does function on Layo. However, the DCs are higher than stock NWN, I'm pretty sure. My suggestion is if you plan to use the skill, keep it maxed out.

Roleplaying / Corso Escapes!
« on: March 29, 2021, 12:12:06 pm »
After more than a year of raiding the roads and coasts of the Liwich, Boyer, and Sedera Kingdoms, the brigand known as Corso met his demise at the hands of a motley and determined crew of bounty hunters in the employ of the Liwich Kingdom. Death wasn't enough to end him, however, if the stories are to be believed. The bounty hunters claim that Corso is stonebound, and he subsequently has escaped prison for the time being.

Liwich and Boyer authorities further claim to have confirmed the bounty hunters' story after examining Corso's former hideout. And despite Corso's escape, his small army of pirates, thieves, and mercenaries has been disbanded or slain, and his ships and supplies confiscated. Angela Liwich considers this a win, though she is purportedly still in the market for skilled trackers to find and capture Corso.

//// A little late in posting this, but my last week suddenly got whacky busy and I'm just now catching my breath. Feel free to RP in this thread, and yes, eventually there will be further quests involving the attempt to capture the stonebound criminal Corso. Thank you to everyone that attended, and I apologize for the sudden disappearance right at the end, and for all the various hiccups along the way. It was my first NWN quest to run in a rather long time, and I had to relearn some things along the way, heh. //////
