Forum Bugs / CET time error
« on: April 28, 2014, 07:43:18 am »
I have currently given my timezone at Europe/Copenhagen, however it seems that the calender time is one hour off with regards to time, as it claimed that Ravemores quest this weekend started at 10pm, while in reality it started at 9pm CET.

General Discussion / Use of fortune
« on: April 26, 2014, 06:39:34 pm »
I was just talking to Ravemore earlier today and I was wondering if anyone has actually used their fortune points for anything? I for one haven't but after reading the rules again and looking at the fortune score of my characters I found that there were some quite interesting options.  So I would definatly consider using the fortune on my characters in the future after I rediscovered what it could be used for. Link to the fortune system explained:http://layonara.com/threads/10162156-the-fortune-system

General Discussion / Another note of absence
« on: April 10, 2014, 03:05:31 pm »
Well the time has finally come for me to grow up and actually finish my education. After having spent 9 years in Aarhus I am finally due to hand in my thesis and go out into the world. I am turning it in the 30th of this month so I wont be around too much before that.Secondly when I have -finallly- turned that in I have two weeks empty my appartment and say goodbye to my friends, as I am flying out to Japan the 15th of May to start my new life as a postdoctoral researcher. So I will be without a computer to run NWN on at least for the first bit of time. If you need to contact me though I am available through pm.

Ask A Gamemaster / CDQ for Storold
« on: December 28, 2013, 11:44:27 am »
Hi everyone,Since irc is down for the time being I have to ask my question here. I was wondering who would feel comfortable with picking up Storold cdq line and running something related to the clearing of the Rift and dealing with the aftermath of that situation? Mostly related to finishing up some promises made to the inhabitants of the Rift and also relating back to the churches response after Storold had a brief meeting with the current holder of "his" possition in the church. With regards to timezones I am pretty much open for running it during the US primetime since I am still able to stay up late.

General Discussion / Not in Kansas anymore
« on: August 29, 2013, 01:01:13 pm »
As some of you might have noticed Storold hasn't been around, probably ever since the forums vent offline really... The reason is that Storolds bottompusher is currently not at home, so he doesn't have access to a computer which will run nwn or time to play with all the amazing people at the moment. Right now I am on my change of research enviroment tour, which has taken me to Wako Sataima prefecture in Japan. For those who do not want to consult google/wikipeadia about the location of this place I can inform you that it is in what most westerners would probably just call Tokyo :P Although as I learned that is actually a rather geographically limited area compared to what I previous thought was Tokyo city. Hopefully I will be able to return to tell more stories from Storolds bench in november when I am back in Denmark. So everyone stay safe until then and don't do something that Storold wouldn't do :)

Just for Fun / Order of the Stick kickstarter
« on: February 16, 2012, 02:48:59 pm »

I just wanted to make people aware of the Order of the Stick kickstarter event. I am pretty sure that people here on the forums have heard of the comics , but if not then do check them out if you enjoy DnD and RP humor in general.

The kickstarter event were initialized to enable some of the old books to get back into print. But at this point I believe there is enough for several rerun prints, so the reasons to pitching in are
  • You want to buy the cartoons and get a bunch of stuff on top
  • You want to support the artist behind the comic

So if you are interested in either of those things go to the following link:
The Order of the Stick Reprint Drive by Rich Burlew — Kickstarter

PS. There are only four days left, so you will have to act sort of fast.

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Shrine to Prunilla in Center
« on: December 29, 2011, 11:05:35 am »
Could the shrine in Center get a list of allies and so forth added. Since this is a central hub in the world it would be nice to showcase the complex diety relations.

Therhcha(level 9 fighter) is looking for company around 8pm CET, where he wishes to arrange a patrol to either the Brech Mountains or the Hammerbound Peaks. He will be looking for allies in Center.

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / jukebox
« on: June 25, 2011, 09:30:50 pm »
Is it possible to make the jukebox messages use -any- other channel than the normal talk one?

Since the amount of text produced by someone interacting with a jukebox spams the talk channel making it hard to keep up with RP.

General Discussion / Announcing NWN log stripper alpha
« on: September 23, 2010, 04:26:11 pm »
Hey everyone,

Per request of Cinnabar way back a few months ago I created a small tool for stripping log files of combat and only displaying what selected people were saying. The project is now(Actually it has been for some time) at a stage, where I can allow people to test it out and give feedback on how it works for them.

There are still features to be added and things to fix but it should at least in it's basic form give people a useful tool for processing huge logs with lots of combat.

I am aware that one such program already exists(Search for nwStory: Tools for the Story Writer), but I am mostly developing this as a little hobby project while learning some techniques and such for software development. Therefore I hope that at least a couple of people would like to try it out and tell me what they think.

At the moment the project page is really bare, but go to the project page and give it a try if you ever need to get a quick overview of a special log. Just remember that it is still an alpha stage project and there may still be bugs and other quirks. Right now the windows application is available, download the packing.tar.gz file and unpack it, the executable is in the packing/bin directory.

The way the program works should be rather easy to figure out, but I will try to make an update tomorrow with instructions and such.

Forum Bugs / PM box suggestion
« on: June 30, 2010, 09:28:33 am »
After having discovered the very nice folder system in the PM box just today!
I would like to suggest that when you are viewing a post, instead of having a huge box asking you if you want to delete the post, couldn't there be an option to move it to another folder?

Roleplaying / WL frustrated with options offered
« on: June 28, 2010, 10:11:21 am »
So now that I have played for quite a few years I have seen a rather strange tendency over the years. Seemingly the player get less and less influence on the world, the WLs(/epics) in particular.

Back in the day epics were really really epic, I mean they were the leaders of their churchs, almost avatars of their gods, dragons, you name it...

Now it is all about handing XP out to people who are doing a great job in the gameworld... Not that this is bad for anyone, however the change is...

I agree that there was some point in Layonara history where there were too huge a gap between what "normal players" and WL's could do. But right now no one can do anything which seems even more silly than someone can do something.

Maybe it is just me, but besides one event that took place a couple of years ago I have been unable to do -anything- what so ever to affect the gameworld. I mean really, it has even gone to the point where even if I don't do something things will happen anyway. So now playing is more like getting told, oh you know this thing will happen in the future, you don't have to do anything it will happen no matter what.

((What I have tried so far:

Contacting GMs
Involving other players
RPing IG
Answering IC forum posts))

Well alright, if that is the case why even play, because one of the reasons I really liked playing here was that every action has consequences.. Well that is cool, as long as you can actually do something that matters in the first place.

Instead I feel stuck in a place where GM's can make a character ten times stronger than mine and with a hundred times the options while having their morning coffee(At least it feels that way to me, I have no idea how NPCs are approved, but just the fact that Storold doesn't actually have a rank as such makes it very easy to make something better.). So all you are left with is following the arrows on the floor and kill the occasional monster in your way, or of course join the eternal grind towards having all upgrades on all your gear and watch your XP counter tick up towards infinity.
