Eben Braister was raised in the slums of Port Hempstead with his brother, living off any few coins that his parents could bring in.
Eben was a quick boy, a little frail and weedy, but with a great intelligence and a maturity his brother often found annoying. Whilst his brother was out playing and climbing trees, Eben spent most of his time at home, curled up with the few books he could find locally. In later years, Eben stumbled across a back-street stall and found a few old spellbooks in the window. Whilst the shop owner refused to sell them to inexperienced wizards, he did offer to train Eben for a cost. If an actual Wizard had attended these lessons he would have laughed in mockery at the pathetic training and preparation the shop owner provided, but it was enough to teach Eben some basics over the years.
His brother Kyle, seeing reading and feeble magics as a waste of time, began dragging Eben off on his escapades during the night, often having him keep an eye on the streets whilst his brother and friends robbed somewhere. This Eben did, on occassion, when after a few years, Eben was on watch duty during another robbing. He heard a commotion from the house his brother and friends were robbing, a shout and a scream. Then he heard the sound of footsteps coming his way and a voice from the house shouting "Braister! I saw ya!"
His brother came hurtling around the corner, face ashen and scared. There had been a fight. Someone had been hurt, and somehow, the people ownining the house knew Kyle's face!
Kyle wanted to go home and forget it, but Eben advised against it. Pointing out that the Guards would be knocking on their door by morning and would drag him off to the stocks. Instead, he persuaded his brother to leave with him, advising that after a year or two, this would all be forgotten about.
They spent a few years roaming around, Eben being totally useless when it came to wandering the wilds. HIs brother kept him in check, kept him on the path, kept him fed. Eben began to feel totally useless with only a few meagre spells to his benefit. So when his brother suggested it were perhaps time to learn how to defend himself, he took to it eagerly. Kyle taught Eben how to use a few different weapons and how to use certain armour, what stances to use. Eben wasn't fond of the armour, but he learnt how to swing a sword and parry a few thrusts, nothing that would see him winning any duels. But Eben never felt comfortable out in the wilds swinging swords around. He needed some new books, a decent meal and a bath.
Eventually, he convinced his brother he head for Centre, where all the good stories began...

Kyle Braister was raised in the slums of Port Hempstead with his brother, living off any few coins that his parents could bring in. Kyle was always much more active than his younger brother, and would stay out later, run across the rooftops with the older boys and get into all kinds of trouble, whilst his brother preferred to go to the library or stay at home.
He learnt to be quite agile and dextrous, and in his teenage yours got into a group of older men who he would accompany on jobs such as petty theft and late night burgalries. As he became more familiar with his role, he grew more confidence and began dragging his brother along on the runs as an extra look out.
After a few years, on one particular late night burglary, the city guard spotted Kyle and saw his face whilst on lookout for the older men. Though both brothers were able to alude the city guard, his older accomplices were caught.
His brother convinced him it would only be a matter of time before his “friends” told the guard where they were, so the two brothers packed up their meagre things and left to travel.
They spent a few years roaming around, Kyle having a special talent when it came to hunting and leading them through the dense forests. Repetition began to teach him the different prints he found in the earth, the meaning behind the greyish clouds and the rising winds. To keep his brother fit, he forced his smaller brother to at least train with a few weapons and exercise a little, rather than relying purlely on his magic, but also to contain his rising boredom.
Eventually, he convinced his brother he head for Centre, where all the good stories began...
To make Layonara "un-greyed" …
Right-Click on NWN in your Steam Library … and select Properties...
.. a new screen will appear.... select the Tab " Beta's"..
… on the next drop down box for "Beta's to opt into"....... select Build 8186.
Re-loading NWN should now require a small download and installation.
Layonara in the Server List should now show as Red... and require a password.

I posted in regards to this some time ago, but can't find the original to link to.Could we get the NPC Jobs/Quest system reset again?Of the six jobs usually in circulation, only 3 of them are now available.And of those three the jobs are Mithril and Yew requirements.Thanks.
Can GM's reset or complete the NPC quests?The NPC quests are an excellent add-on to Layonara, with one down-side.Mithril items eventually come around, and because no one is willing or able to use Mithril to complete these quests, they remain for the duration, until all available NPC quests require mithril in some form or other, and I think it's two weeks must pass-by before they are reset to something else.The NPC quests have currently been unavailable for about a week and a half, perhaps more, and there is a good chance when they reset that one of the "new" jobs they offer will again be a mithril based item, requiring another two weeks before it is reset. It would be useful if, like now, when all available jobs are mithril based and uncompletable, if a GM could reset them.
Seeking interest in running the Gauntlet.That is... a complete trip through the Deep.... from one end to the other.Estimated trip time - 6 hours ( depending on how smoothly we go and how well I remember the way)Maran the Druid will try to provide all protections for those going. Somewhere deep in the Swamp of Sorrows on Alindor, a small Tower is rumoured to be found. Within this tower, guarded by fiersome constructs and likely some form of addled evil wizard, is a treasure trove of some kind.
If adventurer's were able to find the tower, hidden deep in the swamps, and fight their way past its guardians... who knows what ancient relics of chests of gold they might find.
( Hidden treasure for any low level group to find )

A doddering druid of Dregar has come to Mistone to recruit help in purging as many havens of the undead as can be found. He offers his skills in protection and healing to all those who come to assist.
First locations will be krandor Crypts and morakens Tomb.
These locations aimed at Levels 8 - 15.
Starting at 8pm GMT and finishing at 10pm GMT at StormCrest Crossroads. ( To match up with other player event starting at that time )

Suggesting as mentioned in another thread, to remove the Weapon Focus: Greatsword requirement of the unholy Champion of Pyrtechon, and replace it with Weapon Focus on any weapon.
And since after reading said thread, I would also like to suggest removing the Level 3 : Create Undead Feat and replacing it with something more deity related, such as the ability to place a Flame enchantment ( as per the spell) on their weapon or something Fire related.
Grisly trophies often adorn their armor and they wield weapons enchanted with fire to emulate Pyrtechon's breath.
The fires of The Destroyer will purge this place, life plays no part beyond its brief dance in the flames. Glory in destruction, and do not cease until all life is extinguished
A recent exploration into Howling Trolloc territory found a cave with a locked door. Maran the Druid is determined to explore this cave of abberations, and will need a useful LockPicker to open the door.
If the cave turns out to be a small venture, and a decent group has assembled, we may venture down the Deep for Emeralds or face off against the FireGiants and Gensai.

[SIZE=18]An old DragonCalled, by name of Sallaron Tempest, who seemed to hold some reknown as a carpenter, has died of old age in his house in Haft Lake.
He left behind his wife, two sons and a small fortune in his will was given to various charities.
During the funeral, friends and neighbours were astounded to see a mass of people attend, many seeming to be Ex-slaves rescued from a terrible life, whilst others appeared to be those of great rank and standing from various organisations.
Neighbours were noted to have been amazed by the massive attendance to the funeral, stating " He seemed like such an ordinary man. "[/SIZE]

For many, the name may have little to no meaning. Just an ordinary name for what was supposed to be an ordinary man. So ordinary, that the only thing this man ever wanted ... was to be ordinary. Live out an ordinary, simple life.
And he tried so very hard to have the ordinary life, fought so hard to have it, and fought even harder to keep it, that in the end... it became so very far removed from an ordinary life that he himself would find himself a hero.
Some may perhaps come across his journal. Some may consider it a mish-mash of unexplainable jargon. Others may find it worth the read, with pearls of wisdom hidden within its lines.
Others, perhaps of a certain character, might perhaps recognise his other name, Lord Reaver.
A name chosen for him by another, and given to Sallaron to protect his family from the things he was forced to do, and had to do, to keep them safe.
Step into Hurm and ask of the name, and hear what tales they tell of this ordinary man. I guarantee you will be surprised.
And if you should know the secret of Folian's Wood, pass through there, in the depths of the Forest of Mists. Pass through Folian's pass, and find the stream by the cliffs, and the old bench that sits there.
Take a moment to sit and rest, and read the moss covered plaque.
And remember, that there is no such thing, as an ordinary life....
Well, this might have been seen coming, but its time I hung up the GM gloves.
RealLife has took a wonderful turn in the form of two crazy, mad-cap spawns of Mini-Me's, whom continue to suck and drain every ounce of will to live that I have ( kidding of course! )
Add to that various other things, and sadly I just don't have time for GMing anymore, so I'll put the GM Wand back on the self, and hope someone else will pick it up and have a wave.
But I do thank you for the opportunity I had to bring about some chaos, fun and laughs to this wonderful little world you've all created. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for the MMO when it's released, and likely bring about some great ancestor of the Tempest's to see it.

Days have passed, and not a single report of attacks by the mysterious Mist have been reported.
Civilians breathe sighs of relief, guards relax their vigil slightly, children play out in the streets once more.
But many still wonder, and the rumours still circulate.
Who was this mage who supposedly brought down the wrath of the Mist upon them?
What was the Mist's purpose?
More so... who was responsible for delivering the people from the Mist?
As time passes, the answer to these questions becomes lost like tears in the rain.
But surely someone somewhere must know?
Someone somewhere... must have a tale to tell... of a brave and ruthless individual, the most unlikeliest of heroe's... or perhaps not even a hero at all... who walked into the Mist, and came back out victorious.[/SIZE]
A massive attack by the Mist creatures occured recently on the dockside of Vehl, the attack claiming dozens of lives.
The Mist rolled in during the afternoon, catching citizens unaware as they went about their daily business. It came in fast, before people had time to react.
The Rofireinites bravely fought on against the overwhelming numbers of creatures, rescuing as many civilians as possible, before being forced to bar their doors against the creatures onslaught.
As well as such, a group of adventurer's ushered civilians and children into the One-eyed Harpy Inn, owned by the ever popular Arkolio Salvorre, and were escorted to safety aboard one of the ships in Vehl, and sailed away until the calamity had passed.
Many are mourning their dead this day.
Even more so, are now angrily asking Why this is happening.[/SIZE]
