Development Journals and Discussion / The Short Of It
« on: August 14, 2012, 05:40:15 pm »
I love my family, the whole lot of them. But at times, there is to many of them, and when you add the odd ball of aunts and uncles, a girl can drown with family. Night time and early mornings are my favorite times to be by myself. I can pray and meditate as Grandma calls it. Sometimes Keira doesn't always understand why I go and pray every day, but she goes and watches over me, and sometimes she prays with me.

Sometimes I wish she would come with me to the temple with me and Dad, but instead she goes and stays with our aunt and uncle when we visit Llast. At first inside the temple I was overwhelmed with everything I saw and everyone I met, I wasn't sure if I liked going. A lot of times I wished Keira was beside me too. Then things Dad would tell us popped into my head, like we are never alone, Toran is with us, just listen to my heart and He will guide you. I'm not ready to tell Dad he was right about that, but he was. The past few years of going I have felt Toran not only inside the Temple, but outside of it as well. He is my guide, and I try to live His ways. There is a lot for me to learn of His teachings, and although it maybe difficult, I am ready to take the next step and learn how to serve Him. First thing in that step is to talk to my family..

Ausir Stargazer
(8yrs, 8 months)

Wow! It was such a great day! Aunt Kee came to visit us and she and mom talked and talked and talked. It was booring, Aidan didn't care so much since it was just us walking around in Llast. Dad took the two shorties to the Toran Temple. Aunt Kee gave us a neat looking wooden sword that looks like hers and Mom's. And mom said if we wanted to learn how to use them they will both teach us how to use them!

Went out with Aunt Kee, Mom and brother today. Geesh, I love them and all, but they just all talk to much. I've been practicing to try and listen better to things that are harder to hear like Ma can do. I like when we go camping, when we visit the cities not so much. Not sure if I want to learn with the wooden blade we got today. Maybe I can switch it for a bow or something. If only the shorties stop getting into our stuff.

Ask A Gamemaster / Staus of Hlint
« on: June 03, 2011, 07:19:39 pm »
Could anyone give a small description of the status of Hlint. Meaning if someone traveled and stopped in the middle of the town what would they see? The mood of the town? And possibly what is the movement of restoring the town to its original state or better.

Thanks!

Just for Fun / Layonara Pirates who Don't do anything
« on: August 17, 2009, 12:37:41 pm »
As I was making the long trek from San Diego to San Francisco the kids and I were listening to music and one of our favorite songs shuffled to the front called "Pirates who don't do anything" and as I listened to the song three faces came to mind who I thought represented the trio singing just nicely.

I can see Sall as Mr. Lunt the Gourd, Ark as Pa Grape, and Cardin as Larry the Cucumber.. *grinning* of course you can pop in whatever names you feel best fits.

Ask A Gamemaster / Pony question
« on: July 21, 2009, 03:52:09 pm »
Tegan found 5 ponies inside the Bashers store, 5 ponies with the same name and color. Not sure if a GM was having fun, or someone pony is bugged.

I also made a post in the Trades to have the owner remove the pony from inside the Basher's store. If it is a PC's pony and no one claims the pony, would I need to make a post in the Dispute area to have the pony removed?

Thanks,

ystrday

General Discussion / A Sailors Christmas
« on: December 24, 2008, 11:46:30 pm »
Merry Christmas to those who are home and abroad, who serve and keep our land free. Merry Christmas to the service members who serve on ships, boats or serve on land you're in our hearts and prayers.

A Sailor's Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas, the ship was out steaming, Sailors stood watch while others were dreaming.

They lived in a crowd with racks tight and small, In a 80-man berthing, cramped one and all.

I had come down the stack with presents to give, And to see inside just who might perhaps live.

I looked all about, a strange sight did I see, No tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.

No stockings were hung, shined boots close at hand, On the bulkhead hung pictures of a far distant land.

They had medals and badges and awards of all kind, And a sober thought came into my mind.

For this place was different, so dark and so dreary, I had found the house of a Sailor, once I saw clearly.

A sailor lay sleeping, silent and alone, Curled up in a rack and dreaming of home. The face was so gentle, the room squared away, This was the United States Sailor today. This was the hero I saw on TV, Defending our country so we could be free.

I realized the families that I would visit this night, Owed their lives to these Sailors lay willing to fight.

Soon round the world, the children would play, And grownups would celebrate on Christmas Day. They all enjoyed freedom each day of the year, Because of the
Sailor, like the one lying here.

I couldn't help wonder how many lay alone, On a cold Christmas Eve on a sea, far from home.

The very thought brought a tear to my eye, I dropped to my knees and started to cry.

The Sailor awakened and I heard a calm voice, "Santa, don't cry, this life is my choice."

"Defending the seas all days of the year, So others may live and be free with no fear."

I thought for a moment, what a difficult road, To live a life guided by honor and code.

After all it's Christmas Eve and the ship's underway! But freedom isn't free and it's sailors who pay.

The Sailor say's to our country "be free and sleep tight, No harm will
come, not on my watch and not on this night."

The Sailor rolled over and drifted to sleep, I couldn't control it, I continued to weep.

I kept watch for hours, so silent, so still, I watched as the Sailor shivered from the night's cold chill.

I didn't want to leave on that cold dark night, This guardian of honor so willing to fight.

The Sailor rolled over and with a voice strong and sure, Commanded, "Carry on Santa, It's Christmas, and All is Secure!"

HONOR,
COURAGE AND COMMITMENT

Layonara Server / Lance Stargazer may need assistance
« on: April 15, 2008, 04:25:45 am »
A group of us ventured into Greypeaks to bring back Juanita's oil. Which we did fine, but in the midst of fighting the mages deep within our comrade Lance Stargazer crashed. As of this post he's been logged off about 10 minutes. He was at almost full hit points when he crashed. So Lance if you read this before you log back on and if possible for a DM to help him to safety. We will give you 10 more minutes from this post.

It is now 1:27a.m. PDT

General Discussion / Dedicated to Lynn
« on: November 19, 2007, 09:16:30 am »
This is for you Lynn, and I hope his patrol moves quickly for you. I know during that time for me, the sweetest saddest smell was the boat smell. It was sad because I knew he would be going away, and sweet when I smelled it again because he was home.

When God Created the Military Wife

When the Lord was creating a military wife He ran into His sixth day of overtime. An angel appeared and said, "You're having a lot of trouble with this one. What's wrong with the standard model?"

The Lord replied, "Have you seen the specs on this order? It has to be completely independent but must always be sponsored to get on a military installation. It must have the qualities of both mother and father during deployments, be a perfect host to 4 or 40, handle emergencies without an instruction manual, cope with flu and moves all around the world, have a kiss that cures anything from a child's bruised knee to a husband's weary days, have the patience of a saint when waiting for its mate to come home and, have six pairs of hands."

The angel shook her head slowly and said, "Six pairs of hands? No way." The Lord answered, "Don't worry; we will make other military wives to help. Besides, it's not the hands that are causing the problem, it's the heart. It must swell with pride, sustain the ache of numerous separations while remaining true, beat soundly even when it feels too tired to do so, be large enough to say 'I understand' when it doesn't, and say 'I love you', regardless.

"Lord," said the angel, gently touching His sleeve. "Go to bed. You can finish it tomorrow." "I can't," said the Lord. "I'm so close to creating something quite unique. Already it can heal itself when sick, on a moment's notice it will willingly embrace and feed total strangers who have been stranded during a PCS move and it can wave goodbye to its husband understanding why he had to leave."

The angel circled the model of the military wife very slowly. "It's too soft," she sighed."But tough," the Lord said excitedly. "You cannot imagine what this being can do or endure.""Can it think?" asked the angel. "Can it think?! It can convert 1400 to 2 p.m.," replied the Lord.

Finally the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek. "There's a leak," she said. "I told you that you were trying to put too much into this model." It's not a leak," said the Lord. "It's a tear." "What's it for?" asked the angel. "It's for joy, sadness, pain, loneliness and pride." "You're a genius," said the angel.

Looking at her somberly, the Lord replied, "I didn't put it there."
