Rumour Has It / Toranite Aid
« on: August 19, 2016, 09:46:59 am »
Daniella Stormhaven and several other Toranites head for Liwich to lend aid.  They bring with them what healing supplies they can and spread out to help in the different affected towns.  Daniella rides for Wymere.  When she gets there, she does what she can to help ease the suffering of those afflicted.  As a last resort to try to save a life, she calls upon her Toran-granted ability to cure disease only to learn that it is ineffective against the plague known as the Wasting Death.  With this new knowledge, she continues to work to try to help people in any way she can, not with sword and shield, but with hard work, perseverance, attention, prayer, and time.  As the healing population of Wymere dies off, she does her best to make up for their losses on her own with any of the other Toranites that accompanied her to Wymere until more aid can be found.  Unwilling to chance the spread to other towns by sending messages, she and any others buckle down to ride out the storm of the illness until it hopefully eases.

Development Journals and Discussion / A Stuttered Silence
« on: July 13, 2016, 11:34:52 am »
Months had passed since she left the temple of the Aeridinites in North Point.  Since then she had traveled across an ocean, traveled across continents, traveled through portals.  She had gone from a world of healing to a world of death.  The monsters, while different, had come alive from her nightmares and back into her reality.  Though she'd clung to the only weapon she really knew, the staff so often used by the Aeridinites because of its multiple uses, several people had started to tell her that if she was going to be an adventurer like so many in her bloodline before her, she should choose an instrument of a more deadly quality. She'd wrestled with the idea.  It went against what she was taught.  Life was to be protected, not destroyed.  All life was sacred, but so was the cycle of life.  Death was to be honored as life returned to its origin and fed the living.  The Aeridinites could honor the natural cycle of life and death, but they were healers, not killers. But she had left the sanctuary of the Aeridinites and she had answered the call of the bindstone like so many of her relatives.  And with that, she had stepped outside of the natural order of life and death.  She'd found horrors, but she'd also found family; some family, anyway.  Her father had been startled, and worried, but in the end seemingly pleased to see her.  He started to try to teach her that being an adventurer is not easy.  There is responsibility.  The masked elf, Tharivian, had become her frequent companion, though she had never seen his face.  She trusted him.  She couldn't pronounce his name without an embarrassing amount of difficulty with a stutter that she still could not seem to overcome.  She called him simply, Elf.  It was a name that she could pronounce nearly every time without incident. There were others she'd met, too.  Some of them had decided to help as she ventured with the only lead she had to find the mother that she hadn't seen in many many years.  No one had seen her.  In fact, no one had even heard of Bella Poetr.  But her father had given her a secret that she would not reveal.  So, she, and her new acquaintances, ventured to Leringard to find the one known as Mister Steel.  Mister Steel, however, was not what she expected.  The blue-skinned, horned monster with red eyes towered over her small frame that stood barely an inch over 5 feet tall.  He'd been an image that had haunted her dreams and nightmares along with the other monsters that had plagued her since childhood.  His red eyes had watched her out of the corners of her eyes as long as she could remember, and then suddenly he was real, not imagined.  He terrified her.  He explained that Rebecca's mother was an incarnation of death itself:  A Dread Blade.  He said that he would offer to train her as he had trained her mother except for the great lengths that her mother had gone to protect her from the life that she lived.   She struggled through her explanation that she had left the Aeridinites because she was a Poetr, and the call of the bindstone was stronger than the call of the temple.  The blue demon suggested that, perhaps, while Rebecca's mother a sword, a death dealer, a killer, that Rebecca herself would be a shield, a protector.  Rebecca's thoughts swirled beyond the capability that she had with speech at the thought of people being divided so neatly between two different analogies.  Her father did protect people, but she'd also seen him kill in order to do so.  She'd seen Aeridinites protect and heal and not kill.  Perhaps they were the shields that the demon meant?  Perhaps her father was right, and that sometimes, in order to protect, one must learn to defend.  And sometimes, in order to defend, one must kill.  And in order to do that, Rebecca knew that she would have to learn to fight. As much as the thought still didn't sit will with all that she had learned for so many years, she knew that it had to be true.  She'd seen too much since she'd left the sanctuary, and even before, to deny it.She stayed the night in the room that the blue demon had said belonged to her mother.  Walking through the door brought on memories of childhood long forgotten when things seemed much larger to her than they were now.  Of sitting on the bed facing a woman who looked like a reflection of herself as she stood now, but with so much more age in her eyes.  Her eyes that betrayed more emotion than the rest of her face ever did.  That woman's voice echoed through her memories as she had tried to get her to communicate through the dark shadowed hallway of her hiding place where she had retreated for so many years.Rebecca curled up on the bed that had not changed much at all since those memories.  The room looked far too soft for a woman who was known to be an incarnation of Death.  It was a room for a woman.  None of the trinkets around the room seemed to be personal to her at all.  They were decorative, but never seemed to be touched.  The only item in the room at all looked to be personally related to her mother was a small, battered, worn, wooden chest that was locked.Sleep didn't take long to claim her, though at one point in the night she wasn't sure if when her eyes fluttered open and she saw the small frame of a woman standing in the doorway, it was a dream or reality. And when she woke up the next day, there was no sign that it was ever anything but a figment of her imagination.

« on: June 21, 2016, 03:55:57 pm »
I'll probably be online tonight around 8:30pm if anyone feels like doing anything.  If anyone has something specific in mind, let me know so I can adjust my character, but I'm thinking I'll be on with Kala ("Caltana") and see what trouble I can get into.

Ancients Legacy / Hunting Milara
« on: July 12, 2015, 03:38:10 pm »
While dealing with the Conduit and securing the area, Commander Stormhaven checks to see if anyone can trace where Milara may have gone through the collapsed portal in his study by way of magical traces.  She dispatches a group of the Shining Hand to clean out any remaining undead or pit kind in the area as well as search for any clues to where Milara may have fled."Milara's gotten too comfortable.  I don't care how powerful people say he is, I want him brought to justice.  It's well past time."

« on: March 08, 2014, 08:17:25 pm »
Hey guys, going to have to push this back until 2 weeks from now due to crazy rl schedules.  If you have any questions you want to address between now and then, please feel free to PM Minerva and me and we can answer everything to the best of our abilities so that you are prepared to move forward in the next installment.  As a reminder of where we are/were, your plan was that you wanted to investigate whatever information Shyrsarin may have that you believe she is keeping from you, as well as find the sites to the ancient mines. Thanks for your understanding, and see you in 2 weeks!~Alatriel and Minerva

The Great Library has a few sections closed of for several weeks while they put books back in order from some sort of shelving disaster.  In Bydell Castle, there are some who have started the phrase "Watch out for Watchman."

Rumour Has It / Rumors around Center
« on: February 01, 2014, 07:37:12 pm »
"Did you hear about what happened in Center?""Ach, you're going to have to be more specific than that.""Well, I've heard of strange things before, to be sure, but it's said that one man started to glow purple eyes and the winds picked up all around him with lightning just crackling around him, and another young woman had fiery red hair.  No- really- her hair looked like fire and her eyes were glowing.  I think she might've even set the grass on fire where she walked."The second man groans, "Either I need another drink or I need to stop drinking altogether."The first man chuckles, "Aye, maybe, but I heard she was asking some folks about a human adventurer named Kyle something, and a gnome named Zup.  You ever heard of them?"The second man shakes his head.  "Nope.  But I'm a bit shocked it wasn't a gnome exploding or something."The first man laughs and orders them both another round of ales.

Just for Fun / Flawed Character Concepts
« on: December 14, 2012, 11:53:00 pm »
Aerimor and I were goofing around and thought of how some classes really just should never be paired together.

The Barbarian/Wizard

"Hey, do you have any spells prepared?"
"No... I um... got mad and ripped my book apart.  For some reason I just can't write out spells in stick figures and pictograms."

The Paladin/Rogue

*Sneak... Sneak... Sneak.... right up behind the enemy.  Pause.  Clears throat and taps on the enemy's shoulder.*  "Pardon me, but if you would please prepare for battle, I am ready to engage when you are.  No, no, it's alright.  Please, take your time."

The Blind Archer

This sort of speaks for itself.

General Discussion / Warning: Leringard Undercity
« on: November 07, 2012, 01:09:32 pm »
To everyone who has fought in the Leringard Undercity where the prisoners are being held, please check your alignments.  The factions are wrong when the prisoners are listed as hostile.  They will die to AOE spells.  I'll get this fixed asap, but until then please be careful not to kill the "Crazed Prisoners" if you can help it, and let me or another GM know if your alignment is messed up.  Please check lore for what your alignment status should be so it can be adjusted appropriately.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Rumour Has It / The End of the Curse
« on: October 13, 2012, 08:39:29 pm »
A huge crater now sits in the foothills to the south of Mount Norand.  Those that were still alive in the area said that the explosion rocked the ground below them sending out aftershocks for some time.  And yet, as the shocks subsided, those that had been suffering and dying from the Destroyer's Curse finally felt relief.

As weeks pass without any new incidents, Boyer's borders finally begin to reopen, at first tentatively, and then almost desperately as they try to regain trade in spite of the horrible famines still going on around the world.

As people return to their respective faiths, they are offered commendations and acknowledgments for their exceptional bravery and steadfastness in their victory over the Destroyer's Curse.

Many towns, including Stone, Bydell Castle, Spellgard, and Bloody Gate have commissioned stone plaques to be carved with the names of those who served on this quest.  And many songs are now being sung through the halls of the Breath of the Muse.

The Silver Buckle / Visit from a Fashionista
« on: August 28, 2012, 02:46:57 pm »
Zari walks into the Buckle and smiles at Michael, asking if Andy Pandy is around.

She seems to have mostly added color back in her wardrobe, but wears a white short dress with long, full flowing sleeves, with ruffles on the cuffs and along the scooping neckline, and along the bottom edge, stopping just above mid-thigh length, paired with a black reinforced silk corseted overdress, accessorized with a couple red belts with shiny gold buckles, and her tall high-heeled, red thigh-high boots shined to perfection. Her wavy blond is pulled up into a loose ponytail tied with a red ribbon, letting soft curls frame her face and keeping her pointed elven ears plainly visible. She pulls off her black cloak and drapes it over a bar stool, revealing her rapier, Heartbreaker at her hip. All in all, she looks like she just stepped off of the most fashionable pirate ship known to Layonara. She waits about as patiently as she can while Michael fetches Andrew, tapping her fingers on the bar for a few minutes and then leaning over to look to see if he has anything to draw with while waiting, not seeming to notice or care too much about the short skirt she wears or the effect it might have for the patrons if she leans that far over the bar.

General Discussion / Hurricane/Tropical Storm Isaac
« on: August 24, 2012, 07:49:46 pm »
Hey everybody, this is just a notice that we're supposed to have lots of thunderstorms this weekend.  I'm still planning to run the Destroyer's Curse installment this weekend, so if you're planning on attending, I am still planning on running it.

I simply wanted to make sure that everyone is aware on the off chance that I lose power.

We're not supposed to be directly hit by the storm, but you never know with the weather.  Blame Mist *wink*

See you guys tomorrow, hopefully, so keep your fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly, at least on the power.
