Looking for easy gold? Help a crafter develop his skills by gathering resources in exchange for gold. The terms are simple. Bring in a full crate, 36 items, of a resource, and you get the gold that's been left in the chest. Chests are located at 142 Krandor, right next door to the smithy. Then leave a note here saying you completed collecting that resource, so others don't accidentally gather the same ingredient.Need space to store your resources while you gather the rest? Feel free to store part of an order in the crates while you gather the rest, just please have the order filled within 5 days of the first resource being put in the crate. And once you put the first of a resource in the crate, leave a note here saying you're in the progress of filling that order. It's your gold once you fill the crate, nobody else can sneak in and fill the order while you're halfway done!Lists of what resources are being sought after will be posted as I have time. Before gathering, be sure to check the most recent post from me to see what is being bought, and make sure nobody has filled the order since that post!Happy gathering, all!~Garadel Kamek

Development Journals and Discussion / Behind the Mask
« on: July 14, 2016, 04:45:31 pm »

The mask is a sancutary and a curse; an item of comfort and yet also an item of misery. Of course, the true curse is my herritage. Of course, without it I would not be who I am. Without my father's blood on my hands, would I have been driven to be a warrior, to be an adventurer? If I had been born on the surface, I could have just as easliy become a fat, lazy merchant with no motivation to do anything more than buy and sell meaningless goods.

It's my dark elven herritage that has made me who I am today, but at what cost? The cost of the trust of those who I could be close to? Becca Poetr... A decent fighter and someone I could call a friend if it wasn't for the fact that she has yet to see my face, has yet to learn my secret. I haven't a clue how she may react if she were to learn. Perhaps I've fought beside her enough to earn her trust, perhaps she would accept me. But I cannot help but prepare for the hatred that is the standard here on the surface.

It is a strange feeling, trust. I've traveled with many people on the surface, and all seem to trust me. All have seen a mysterious masked elf with a sword, and have chosen to fight by my side rather than investigate. Out of courtesy? To preserve the mystery? I may never know. But it has been beneficial to me. My disguise has remained undiscovered, save by one.

Delia... She discovered my herritage. I believe through healing me after I was badly wounded by a goblin. She did not seem to care however, it has not stopped her from her nonstop flirting with me. Perhaps she is that way towards everyone. At least she accepts me for what I am. I only hope that others may do the same, because in truth, it is lonely behind the mask. It's lonely, and it starts to smell sometimes.

Layonara Server / Housing Cleanup?
« on: July 12, 2016, 03:31:50 am »
Hey there! Not sure if this is feasable, but I do remember that in past years there was an occasional sort of clean up of all the inactive houses on the server, to make room for active players looking for houses. As far as I can tell (and I may be mistaken) one of these sweeps has not been done in a while, and to my knowledge, there isn't a single house avalible in all of Mistone. I did a run through and found none from the Hlint, Leringard, or Krandor real estate offices, although those are the only ones I could think of off of the top of my head.I know that getting together a list of inactive houses is probably a big job for the team and so I would be willing to help out in compiling a list of all houses whos owners haven't logged in in 12 months (that seemed to be the standard from the last sweeps, from what I found on the forums), but I think it would be nice to get some houses cleared up, if possible. Thanks,
Teo

Rumour Has It / A Disturbance in the Aragenite Temple
« on: July 17, 2014, 12:20:27 am »
Deverian traveles to Bydell Castle and enters the Aragenite Temple. After knocking over a pile of scrolls, turning to pick them up, and pushing over a book case, he tries to reorganise things somewhat before finding a scholar who he then asks "Do you know anything about the existance of a vampire in the broken halls?"

Ask A Gamemaster / Broken Halls?
« on: July 16, 2014, 01:24:42 am »
Hey!So I'm working towards a WLDQ, and I thought that it would be cool to kill the vampire in the broken halls and return it to the city it once was, but on the page about the broken halls vampire, it says that the broken halls colapsed and there is nothing left on the surface, yet in game you can go through the entire halls system. Role-Play wise, do they still exist? Thanks, Teo

Ask A Gamemaster / Shifter Rules
« on: May 04, 2014, 12:03:57 pm »
I've noticed that the shifter class seems to interfere with the Druid rules for two reasons. One is that many of the shapes have a metal weapon or armor. Are shifters just supposed to not use these forms? And the second one... Undead shape. If Druids are averted to undead, why would they shift into an undead creature?

Here it goes! Character Name: Deverain Current Level: 20 Original Biography: http://layonara.com/threads/1284355-new-character-submission-deverian           (Note: When I created the character, I swapped the ‘I’ and the ‘A’ in his name, so the approved name is Deverian, but in game he is                Deverain.)          Alignment Shift Submission: http://layonara.com/threads/1285900-deverain-alignment-shift-request         CDT's - http://layonara.com/threads/1284395-deverian                          http://layonara.com/threads/10162199-deverains-new-book                                Lifetime Achievements: Unfortunately, school makes my play hours fall in a strange slot where I always have to log in the middle of quests, so Deverain has been unable to get involved in any long-running quests. I realize this may be a roadblock to my World Leader Development Quest Application, but I’m hoping it can be worked around seeing as how it is real life’s fault not the character’s fault.           How I see Deverain becoming a World Leader: Definitely some sort of combat/military quest, but with role play roots. I’m not talking about some purely hack-n-bash quest, but if Deverain is going to become a World Leader, I think it is going to be on the grounds of slaying a dragon or something (Excuse my use of the stereotypical knight-in-shining-armor great deed, but that’s along the lines of what I see Dev doing). Of course, it needs a good chunk of role play and/or political tie-ins. But in general, I see Deverain doing something good and pro-Toran such as protecting a village or slaying an evil beast.           What sort of title do I envision for Deverain: I don’t think Dev is really the type for any official titles (Seeing as he’s Chaotic Good in a Lawful Good church). If he did get one it as a side effect of whatever he ends up doing, it would be a benefit, but I don’t think it would be something I’d be intentionally shooting for. I saw him maybe moving up in the church to some sort of place of respect, but definitely nothing official. I figure that if a warrior becomes a world leader, he stays a warrior!           Thanks for the consideration, and I understand if Deverain hasn’t been on enough quests to qualify. If that is the roadblock to this application, I understand and I can try to get involved in more quests  -Teo

Rumour Has It / A visit to the Toranite Temple

Deverain visits the temple in Fort Last with questions about undead sightings near the Silkwood forest, about nightmares of being undead, and about a spell that gave someone the appearance of being a zombie without taking away their mental abilities.

Development Journals and Discussion / Redemption - Ryn'ilda Dakrad
« on: February 04, 2014, 07:06:40 pm »
Redemtion 1. the action of saving or being saved from error, or evil. As I am camped here with Kalberen, my mind lays focused on the road ahead. Redemption. The chance to not be hated by all around me. It is a thought that has occured to me, but something I never had never truely gone into depth on. It always seemed like this far-off goal to persue after my fighting days were long past me. Now the oppertunity is looking me in the face and leaving me no choice but to come along for the ride. I am to go the the temple of Az'atta, to a refugee camp. I can do that. So long as they don't take away my sword. Az'atta does not like weapons, but I won't be parted with mine. It has kept me alive for so long, I won't throw it aside now. So long as it stays by my side, I will smile upon the idea of redemption. Redemption of my herritage, of my past. Starting a new life. My path to redemption is not yet clear, but at least I know where it starts.

Development Journals and Discussion / Xera - A Shadowed Path
« on: January 14, 2014, 05:51:44 pm »
I have word of an elven spirit... trapped in the Haven Mines. I was instructed to research the past of this creature, to find where and what it comes from as to better control it. I will try the Temple in the Ire Mountains, or perhaps a temple Aragen or Lucindia, since they both seem to be interested in knowledge. I would be pleased if my Lord's home contained the information, as I do not wish to spend more time than necicary in one of the other's foul home.    If we succeed... We will have access to an immensly powerful creature to do our bidding. Worth the work. [/b]

General Discussion / Arena Tournament?
« on: December 01, 2012, 07:15:33 pm »
Hey all,

I was just thinking about putting on a little quests in the Vehl Arena. A fighting tournament, with level brackets. Those would be New Adventurer (1-15), Veteran (15-20), and if more show up, perhaps another category, (21 and up). There would be one on one duels for each bracket, as well as a battle royal for each bracket. At the end the New Adventurer champion would try to take on the Veteran champion, but the Veteran champion would have limitations to the equipment, weapons, and armor he or she could use, for both the top three of each battle royal champions, and the winner of each one on one duel would also fight, with the Veteran having the same limitations as those in the battle royal. Perhaps with some food vendors and weapon venders, and with special weapons as rewards for victory? I would be willing to run it, but perhaps with some GM assistance. Just throwing this idea out there to see how many would turn up, and if it would be a good quest or a flop.

Just a though :)

Ask A Gamemaster / Improv-Only GMs?
« on: December 01, 2012, 11:11:21 am »
I have noticed that there are more GMs on lately, and I have been getting some bumps to my xp and all which have been nice. But I have only seen one improv quest in the last couple months. I think that improv quests really spice the game up more then scheduled quests or experience bumps. So maybe there could be a few Improv-only GMs who don't try to get a whole lot of long running quests going, unless it turns into that. Maybe they would just go it and give little quests, even just a twenty-minute quest or something involving a dark elf threatening the pawn shop when your across the road from them. Nothing much, but just a little to spice the game up here and there.

General Discussion / East Coast Storm
« on: October 31, 2012, 06:39:15 pm »
As most of you probably know, the east coast is under one of the most severe storms on record. I wanted to get some good prayers and thoughts going towards all who have had property and possessions ruined, and even more so to the families of those who have died in the storm. My prayers go out to them.
