If five people can remember this quote, and tell me who said it, I'm going to buy NWN diamond.

"Deathward is fer pansies"

If not then I'll keep lurking and making stupid threads every few months.

General Discussion / Getting Mugged
« on: September 05, 2008, 10:06:52 pm »
There are two separate occasions of people being mugged happened outside of my building. Both times the tenants told me two people were carrying bricks, of which there is a pile nearby due to recent construction.

What would you do if two people confronted you with bricks and told you to give up what you had on you?

My personal decision is to do what I can to fight them. I carry a knife with me to and from work, just because I live in a shady neighborhood. So the kabar knife I'm carrying is always with me on my trip upstairs.

It's my personal belief that the scum feeding on the working man/woman don't deserve what they think they can muscle out of me. My girlfriend who just ran to bed in rage thinks otherwise. Unless there was a gun to my head I would put up the fight of my life.

I want to know what you people think. I know my personal beliefs aren't intelligent, nor are they what the average person would do, but I won't alter my beliefs because someone disagrees with me.

If you were outnumbered, what would you do? They've all ready hospitalized one person. I have martial arts experience, am very physically fit because of my line of work, and carry a big knife with me, so factor that into my choice. I want to know what you would personally do.

I'm playing Quake Wars and Forged Alliance in my precious spare time.

Hey,

I just noticed in my profile there is a "Referral" listing with a zero value attached to it. Some people I've noticed seem to have a referral, and I am just wondering what this is, and if I want them or not.

Doubt is life.

Life is regret.

Regret is endured.

Remorse is weakness.

We make our own choices.

Free will is a pretty phrase.

Wisdom does not come with age; It is earned in blood.

Only the truly detached will ever live.

Assure yourself that everything is a lie and upon doing that you will see as I see.

In all of my life I have found that violence will solve anything in the immediate. It is later in life that the ramifications are felt.

Surely the weak are meant to be as prey.

Surely  the strong are meant to feast upon the flock.

It is where you lie in between, as wolf or sheep.

You can be both, and as both you are being so undoubtedly human.

Human. This is a word that sits sour in the throat of the strong. What makes the  human strong?

The resolute acceptance that in your own survival many others must die.

Must you regret death?

Must you feel remorse?

Only the wise will know.

General Discussion / Embarass me at Supreme Commander
« on: March 20, 2008, 01:01:53 am »
As the title says I am just getting started at going online in Supreme Commander. Currently I am playing with the Forged Alliance expansion, just because I like all of the changes. The units actually move in formation. I suggest that any of you who like Supreme Commander to get the expansion. It's UI is a lot more streamlined and all of the in game menus are transparent. There are a few critical new units and changes as well. The experimentals we're jerked around a little bit. T1 Mass Fabs no longer exist, but a T2 version is available. It's all about holding Mexes for as long as you can until T3 where the game explodes in a few minutes after. The game really changes for the better.

If any of you are playing it and would like to beat the living  out of me, please let me know. Well set something up over GPGnet, and I can promise you a good T1 fight at least.

General Discussion / Far Cry for free
« on: September 01, 2007, 10:24:08 pm »
Let me make one thing perfectly clear before I continue with this post. This is not warez. This is entirely legal. Ubisoft released this, along with a few other of their games on Fileplanet not too long ago. I understand the rules about posting warez and copyright infringment.

The only actual "problem" with these games are the huge downloads, the wait to download them unless you pay Fileplanet subscriptions, and there are in game ads. The games require you to make an account at Ubisoft in order to install them.

The ads in game are actually not that annoying, considering these are recent games. The ads usually pop up during load screens and on the main screen, and there are some videos. Annoying as they may be Far Cry is an amazing shooter and I suggest it to anyone who was a fan of all the Half-Life games. The ads are left entirely out of the actual game play which is a blessing. Despite being graphics intensive, it's worth it if your system can run it.

I can only assume this is to boost sales of their up coming release of Far Cry 2.

General Discussion / Eight-Bits easy guide to quitting smoking.
« on: August 27, 2007, 02:00:40 am »
First of all, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. This isn't the hardest thing you'll  do. People lie. Tabacco is the biggest lie of all. It isn't the hardest thing to do in your life if you go about it right.

In a few, easy steps, you might be able to quit the way I did. I had no trouble at all and I live with two smokers. They drive me nuts now, but I love them regardless.

The first step is to stop smoking after 'trigger' events. Trigger events are something like after eaten, while driving, during break at work, etc. Times you smoke cigarettes are trigger events.

Remove one trigger event every one or two weeks. I stopped after eating, then while driving, then at work. It went from smallest to biggest step. I smoked a lot of cigarettes at work. Just look at where you smoke the most.

The second step is the biggest step. You need something to replace cigarettes that IS NOT FOOD or anything that will cause you to gain the unlooseable 20 pounds. I suggest you start jogging or buy a guitar and try to learn Ghost of Perdition by Opeth. It took me 4 days to learn. I had it easy, but I have a million hobbies.

Once you fell that you have something to keep you busy for four days, I suggest you try to quit. I had it easy, my flat mates went on vacation and it was just me, the guitar, and El Gato Malo. I hate my flat mates cat. It's evil.

Whats imporant is the weening process. Knowing that you can go hours without smoking...

Such as not smoking on the ride to work, at work, and on the ride home, is a confidence booster.

I'm tired. Stick around for part two tomorrow.

General Discussion / The Easy Guide to PC Suicide, by Eight-Bit
« on: August 23, 2007, 12:45:58 am »
I've noticed this is a subject that most people just don't get. I usually like to keep quiet and make the occassional snide comment here and there, but every so often I like to add something useful to the community I so dearly tolerate.

Murder is a lot of fun! Murdering yourself is when it gets tricky. With the help of this guide, your imagination, a tasteful post on the Character Development Forum, and a post in the character deletion thread you can be fresh on your way to being remembered vaguely and referenced obscurely, or god willing you'll never be mentioned at all.

Step One: The Big Choice

This is a toughy and one that shouldn't be made in the heat of the moment. A character that kills themselves surely can come back from the wonderous magic of the Bind Stones. How a character commits "suicide", which is hereby understood as self-termination and not following a massive group of poorly-equipped idjits to Firesteep to die at the first bridge, is by my definition a total lack of the will to live and a self-applied method of death. You are pratically giving up your spirit to the Soul Mother and taking your own life, by your own free-will. It's a purely boolean situation, and like real life, this ain't a round trip.

So there's a few questions you need to ask yourself. Important questions! They are, but not limited to:

- Do I want to do this?

- Am I going to regret this? (A little bit of regret is all right. But don't do it if you're going to stress about it!)

- Is there a good reason for this or do I just want attention?

- Am I bored with this character?

- Am I willing to accept that I will never play this character again?

- Am I aware that this means I'll have to start over?

- Are my alt-characters worth developing?

Step Two: How the heck do you tie a noose anyway?

Now that you've asked the though questions you need to wonder how you're going to go about doing it. I've always been partial to characters jumping off of things and making a horrible mess. They leave that moment for the poetic "last thoughts to go through head, before head and thoughts are smeared over Port Hempstead" goodness that I quite enjoy.

"And, alas, I shall miss my Mitsy the most. Mitsy."

SPLAT!

There are several ways to go about it, and I'll give a few prompts because I'm a nice guy and I've had a few:

- Having a witness in game. This allows for two great situations, which include, being seen doing it, and doing it in game. This way people can know and the word can spread on its own. It also allows for only the people who care to know.

- Going out on your own. Why not just swan-dive off Ozy's roof into the shark infested waters that are his backyard? Sure, this is pretty much the most awesome thing ever, and it leaves the actual details out of it. Perfect for your loner characters. If I can't get my CD key to work (long story), Yu is doing this for sure.

- Keeping it a forum issue. This usually amounts to the best result, as there is 100% control in that of the user and no swanky jerks casting Hold Person on you while you're carving up your wrist like a hot thanksgiving bird. You can add the most detail, and depending on the perspective in which you write your character development thread, you can add a lot of feeling, thoughts, and motivation. This is my preferred method, despite how awesome being eaten by sharks is.

The Third and Final Step: Getting it all stamped and legal.

The third step happens to be the easiest as well. Just follow the instructions in the Character Deletion sticky and you're done!

Hooray!

You've just committed digital suicide!

ACP Alternative Combat animations v3 - Override version -- Neverwinter Nights 2 Vault

New combat animations. Just installing it now myself. Make sure to create backups of the folders you install it to, just in case.

It's not a required file. Just some niftyness.

It has an assassin, kenasi, heavy weapon, and rapier style.

Que pasa mi amigos?

My name is Mike Powers. Mugshot to follow, I can't find one and jacking one from a friend's myspace is proving difficult. The link below has me running at a pumpkin and smashing it with a 15 pound wooden hammer a buddy of mine made.

YouTube - Smash Club

Yea, we're all pretty immature.

I'll update this as I feel neccessary.. but here's the basic jist of me.

I play the guitar. I work a mind-numbing job. I'm a computer science major. I drive a Jeep that I named Bixbee, because she is my sweet southern belle. I've played a GMed off and on here for years now. Online RPGs are my least favorite form of videogame, Layonara just as some kind of right thing going on and it keeps me here.

I like action. I'm fickle and bored easily, as a friend here once told me.

Aside from Layonara the only other games I really play right now are Wolfenstien Enemy Territory and the odd Total Annihilation game.

I live in a wee town named Granby, located in a valley that fills with snow every year, and quickly melts causing us all to live on boats for a few weeks. It's fun. It's like Water World without Kevin Cosner's terrible acting ruining the whole deal.
