Character Submissions / Character Submission - Bolger
« on: March 25, 2018, 07:22:14 am »
Full Name: Bolger
Age: 136
Class: Cleric
Race: Deep Dwarf
Alignment: Lawful Evil

Deity: Sulterio

Domains: Earth and Death

It all started with a pure seam of Adamantine, larger and purer than any Bolger had seen before.  Mind you he was no expert, he was just a cleric of The Chosen, but the Deep Smiths in the party seemed very excited.  He'd found the seam by accident but now he was busily persuading himself that Sulterio had lead him directly to it.  "Aye it's a beauty" said the normally taciturn Korval.  We can make good use of this, he scratched the tattoo on his left arm absently.  "Well...we must get the information and the samples of this seam back to the temple.  You Bolger have just be awarded the honour of guarding the site.  Make sure nothing and no one learns of its location and any that do....kill them"
Bolger sighed inwardly, they were far from the city and he couldn't expect any relief for several days.  It would be a dangerous yet boring assignment but Korval was the leader of the party and his word was law.  They left...

The darkness pressed in on him.  Normally being a child of the dark it never bothered him but now it seemed to be filled with furtive movements and stealthy sounds.  He sighed again the wards were beginning to fail, it had been several hours since the departure of the others and it was almost time to renew them.  A pebble fell somewhere behind him.  He did not react that would be foolish but he tried to focus all his attention towards the sound.  Again a soft whispering as if fabric brushed against stone.  Someone was here...he grasped his hammer and turned muttering a prayer to Sulterio.  There was nothing there.  He peered into the darkness all his senses attuned to any movement.  There...a slightly darker shape against the looming stones.  It moved quickly as if realising it'd been detected and Bolger was suddenly thrust backwards onto the ground, and arrow bouncing off his dark grey armour.  He roared jumping back to his feet just as dozens of other shapes suddenly resolved themselves into lithe figures all well armed.  It was a Dark Elf hunting party.  He paused unsure of what to do...he couldn't win this.  So he did the only thing he could do...he turned and ran.  Cruel laughter followed him and he knew he was a dead dwarf.

He was lucky...they didn't follow immediately and that gave him plenty of time to increase his distance from them.  "The bastards are probably gloating over the Adamantine" he thought, realising that if he was very very lucky and escaped he'd be killed for his failure when he returned to the temple.  As he ran he began to hear the sounds of rushing water. He altered course...

The underground river was deep and moving swiftly and Bolger eyed it uneasily as he crouched hidden by the rocks on its bank.  The elves had followed him and where now scouring the river banks looking for any sign of him.  He looked at the river again in distaste, he could barely swim and though he thought he could remain above water, it mean divesting himself of his heavy weapon and armour.  He sighed and quickly released his armour before quietly slipping into the cold dark water.  The current took him...it quickly rushed him past the elves but it's raging torrent meant it took all his strength to stay afloat.  He cried out in pain as a rock smashed into his shin causing him to tumble.  When he got back to the surface he just had time to register the dark shapes before him, before he crashed into the rocks and knew no more.  It was daylight when he awoke and after the pain of the sun became more manageable, he crawled out of the shallows and stumbled off into the forest looking for the nearest settlement.

1.  I have read the information on Sulterio and I will play Bolger as a faithful
priest of Sulterio to the best of my abilities.
2.  Bolger's connection with Sulterio was restricted to the duties of a lowly
soldier cleric in one of the smaller temples of Sulterio.  He aided the Deep Smiths in staying safe from any foe in the deep.  He did this through healing, fighting and setting simple wards around the camp sites.  He never expected more, to him life was complete.  Now he has been singled out and thrown into a bewildering world that he has no experience of and all he has to aid him is his faith in Sulterio and more importantly himself.
3.  Bolger has no noble past or great wealth or any blood ties to a god
etc.  He was just a nobody, a nondescript soldier cleric working for the temple
before he was thrown into the wider world.  He will follow the dogma of
Sulterio to the letter.

Hi...it's been a long time but at last I have a proper windows computer and am seriously thinking of coming back to the game.I have a question though, whatever happened to the orc's and is it possible to create a half orc character anymore?

Ask A Gamemaster / Problem with Krut
« on: July 05, 2012, 05:19:26 pm »
I've just had a new Goblin character approved called Krut but I seem to have a problem with him.

On login the Goblin skin is applied but Krut still looks like a halfling, albeit one with metallic skin and florescent green hair :)

I was going to ask if someone could sort him out but I wonder if he could be given the default appearance of an NPC goblin instead. I think it'd suit him better.

Thanks for your time :)

LORE Ideas, Suggestions and Requests / Ranger Lore
« on: February 05, 2007, 01:27:19 pm »
After reading Pan's post about rangers (which I've copied below) I had a look at the lore page concerning rangers.  It seems to say that all rangers have a 'woodsy' type background, wereas Pan's post gives the class a much greater scope and choice of RP.  I wondered if it would be a good idea to update the ranger page, unless of course you want our rangers to all have forest type backgrounds.

-Pan's Post Copied from Forums-

A Ranger... well this is a topic I love to discuss so here comes the long useless post.

As far as DnD is concerned, Rangers base their lives around one thing. Their Favored Enemies. This basic principle implies that normally rangers restrict themselves to a particular area and become the protectors of it. Normally being the protectors of the area means that there is a certain creature, or a certain group of creatures that are a natural enemy to the area that is being protected. They are ever watchful and that means they have to learn the way of their enemies to keep their borders secure.

Now you might see above that I mention "area" and not "forest". Simply because a ranger can also be guardians to other domains. There really is a type of ranger for each climate AND there is a city ranger as well. So you can have your desert ranger, your plains ranger, your grasslands ranger, even your mountain ranger. And of course the particular enemies of those lands.

There is one true aspect from all the above posts that I consider rangers normally to follow. Rangers are either gruff loners or they normally have a darker less than pleasant side to them. Their ways normally mean learning things about their enemies that people simply do not want to know. I suppose that is what happens when you know the culture and habits of foul creatures or from people who NORMALLY mean harm to you. Thus they gain an insight into their enemy that eventually leaves a mark on their lives. This goes particularly deep for rangers who have to deal with the threat of undeath or outsiders.

Now another important aspect that rangers have to deal with is of course the defense of their territories. So its important to understand that while NWN (or any online game) is indeed focused in battle. Rangers are martial classes who, unlike druids who choose peaceful intervention, a ranger's way almost always leads to combat. While a particularly large amount of druids (not all!!) normally expend all their resources to make a peaceful settlement that benefits the land. A ranger sees a band of "insert favored enemy" and is already making preparations to end their lives or kick them away from their territories.

A ranger doesn't have to be tied to a deity. While Layonara is very religious, there is no denying that. The ties to a territory have absolutely nothing to do with a dogma of religion. Granted Folian S'pae is a deity that encompasses most of the things that rangers are. However Folian is a deity tied to the forests and this automatically removes it from the other aspects rangers have. I can completely see a Desert Ranger worshiping the fire or destruction aspect of Pyrtechon. Just as much as I can see the same ranger not worshiping anyone due to the desolation normally found in the desert.

Finally I suppose its important to discuss the aspect of the spells granted to rangers. Now in Layonara all spells come from the Weave. That has been set in stone and all spellcasting classes do so. There is no way around this, everyone gets spells from the Weave. Even the magic hating dwarves and those connected to nature like druids. Everyone gets spells from the Weave. Heh said that enough? Let me say that again. Everyone gets spells from the Weave. Now I said it plenty of times.

But!! And this is the important but...

The focus however from which you get your spells varies from class to class and even from player to player. Druids focus on the land and the land shapes the weave in natural manners. Voraxians shape the weave to increase their might in battle through their faith. And our friends the Rangers focus on their aspect of the hunt to such level that their abilities are enhanced to improve it. Focus on this bringing this particular magical touch. Though less than wise rangers may not particularly reach this level of insight and simply are good at what they do through mere physical matters.

Oh and on the fighting aspect and the horrid horrid misconception that rangers are Bowmen. This is far far far far from the truth. A ranger uses the best means to eliminate their enemies, this simply means debilitate from afar then cleanup when up close. A ranger loneliness normally means that they have to be smarter than the normal fighter in combat. They have to normally deal with greater numbers and they need to do this in the loneliness of their territory. So what do they do? Well they set traps first of all, that should disable a few. Then when the trap triggers they shoot from a distance and try to disable as many as possible. Finally when he is finally spotted or the invaders take the protection of cover, the ranger sneaks in and eliminates the threat up close as fast as possible. How do you do this as fast as you can? Well... have as many weapons as you can. Hence the dual wielding.

Now the role of the ranger in a party can be of many aspects. You can consider him a scout, a skilled trapster, a second line fighter who normally does significant amount of damage to particular creatures or a protector of mages. Truly its one of the most diverse classes.

Maybe I've typed enough, though I love this subject as you can see, mostly because I think Rangers are one of the classes that have the most possibilities and are seriously downplayed sometimes as just bowmen. Heh I'll step of the podium for now and go get some work done.

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Rangers Spells
« on: February 05, 2007, 01:15:21 pm »
I was looking at the rather meager collection of spells availible for rangers in NWN recently and when comparing it with the PnP handbook, it does seem as if they've been fairly hard done to as a class by bioware.  The recent threads in the forums made me think that maybe they are under powered as a class compared to some of the others.  I thought that one way to improve the class would be by giving them some extra spells which would prove more useful than the few they have now, this would be better than giving them over powered feats like HIPS.

The problem is that most of the PnP ranger spells won't translate well to NWN, except for a few which are all level 2:

Barkskin (I can't belive that Bioware never included this in the rangers spell list!)
Bear's Endurance
Cat's Grace
Owl's Wisdom
Spike Growth (Another under used spell that druids get, however with druids its often overlooked as they have much better spells in that level)

All of the above spells rangers get in PnP but not in NWN, but I'd like to ask the team to consider some others which are not Ranger PnP spells but neither are they overpowered and they fit in with the same sort of theme.  Not suprising as they're druid spells :)  They are;

Quillfire (An underpowered poison spell that most druids hardly use)
Infestation of Maggots (Another nice spell thats not two overpowered)
Greater Magic Fang and Awaken (There are alot of spells in the PnP rangers repetior which deal in manipulating animals, something which you can't do in NWN so I thought that one or both of these could make up for their loss.  I know they are powerful but...the PnP ranger has other powerful spells which wouldn't work in NWN)

All of these spells already exist in the game so no new spells would have to be created, although it might be better if they weren't all level 2 in the rangers spell list as they don't get many spell slots to play with.

On the other hand if the team felt like adding a few other spells I'm sure our ranger friends wouldn't complain :)

From the bible itself :)
  Shield Other
Abjuration Level: Clr 2, Pal 2, Protection 2 Componants: V,S,F Casting Time: 1 Standard Action Range: Close (25ft + 5ft/2 levels) Target: One Creature Duration: 1 Hour/Level (D) Saving Throw: Will Negates (Harmless) Spell Resistance: Yes (Harmless) Focus: A pair of platinum rings (worth at least 50gp each) worn by both you and the warded creature
This spell wards the subject and creates a mystic connection between you and the subject so that some of its wounds are transferred to you. The subject gains a +1 deflection bonus to AC and a +1 resistance bonus on saves. Additionally, the subject takes only half damage from all wounds and attacks (including that dealt by special abilities) that deal hit point damage. The amount of damage not taken by the warded creature is taken by you. Forms of harm that do not involve hit points, such as charm effects, temporary ability damage, level draining, and death effects, are not affected. If the subject suffers a reduction of hit points from a lowered Consititution score, the reduction is not shared by you because it is not hit point damage. When the spell ends, subsequent damage is no longer divided between the subject and you, but damage already split is not reassigned to the subject.  If you and the subject move out of range of each other, the spell ends.
Of course I've seen this spell at work in NWN2 and it struck me that this would be a nice spell to have in V3if it were possible to script. The reason is that this is really an RP spell that also has obvious practical applications. Its not a good spell for powergaming clerics (would they volunteer to takeextra damage) but would be good for all those clerics who are along just to heal and protect the other adventurers in a party. I think the idea of using a pair of platinum rings is a good one as long as they could be bought and were non comsumable (I expect they'd be expensive :))

I'm very sorry everyone but I've just got in from work after being up all night, it turned out to be very busy after all - mainly c'sections and a patient transfer.  I'm really sorry but I can hardly think straight and I need to get some sleep.

I'll change the quest time to next weekend at the same time, but I'm actually free both saturday and sunday mornings so if you want to post in this thread, your preferred time.  However be aware that I'm actually trying to time this quest so that its conveinent for both Brits and Auzzies...although all are welcome of course :)

Development Journals and Discussion / Ald Jaspers S...book

So this is Hlint a place that upon first sight appears to be naught but a ramshackled old dung heap, but hidden unseen, to all but the most discerning of spectators is a great treasure. That treasure is the spirit of adventure and daring that prevades all who dwell in this place, well except for that pale half orc called Erag...he's just plain wierd, a habitual abuser of Dark Soul Essence if I'm not mistaken....a sad sad case.

There is the grim and silent guard captain...Talon. He ordered me into the foothills surrounding the town to find and eleminate any goblins that I discovered...marvellous, and I'd only just walked through the gates too. Imagine an adventure, and straight away too...simply marvellous. No longer shall I be called, unjustly I might add, Jasper the Grand Bard of Misadventure (How can I help it if by the time I've arrived at a gathering point of adventureres, they've all set off without me). Now I shall be the Bard of Grand and Terrible Adventures...simply Marvellous.

Fixed Bugs / Mass Animal Empathy Bug

I've just realised that the mass animal empathy effect isn't working on Narnulubat my half orc Druid. It doesn't even seem to be checking at all. I know he smells and he's very anti social but still... :)

Fixed Bugs / Wemic's Smell
« on: March 05, 2006, 04:34:03 am »
You know Wemics should have the scent abilility just as the bear warriors do. There's not a lot in the Wemic's profile to show them as great hunters and this would go some way to alleviate this. Feline type species do have a well developed sense of smell so it wouldn't look odd, and would give them a more 'huntery' feel :)

General Discussion / A question about Wemics
« on: March 04, 2006, 09:14:55 am »
I just wondered if a Wemic druids 'skin' is still in use when he is shapeshifted? For instance the Wemic has a -2 AC penalty due to creature size in normal form, is this still in effect if he shifts into Black Cat form? If no one has tried this yet, how does it work with the other subraces who have 'skins'?

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Gnome Helm

I was just wondering if there would be any possiblity of this helmet being added to the available customisations.  I haven't been able to find it on the Vault but it is actually in the CEP.  Here are some photos, as you can see it is a perfect helm for gnomes and perhaps other races too :)

General Discussion / Attention DM's
« on: February 19, 2006, 11:27:30 am »
Someones left the orc bandit leader on the transition from Dinen Forest in Rilara to the area where Farmer Part is. He's right on the transition on the Farmer Part side. So there is no warning when he attacks...as my 5th level character has just found out he can kill in one blow.
I just wondered if you wanted to move him to were he belongs...I'm assuming he's one of the more persistant creatures

General Discussion / Question about Wooden Spears
« on: February 18, 2006, 09:58:14 am »
Do wooden spears only come in the hickory flavour? If so I just wanted to ask if there was any problem with druids using normal spears +1 and above?

I know this has been asked for before but for the life of me I can't seem to find the original posting. However I found thison the NW Vault and wondered if we might see them in Layo sometime....perhaps?
Of course of the two versions I like the one which replaces darts, since the character of mine who would use them is a druid. But I'm not sure how popular darts are, the other version though replaces the shruiken's although of course druids can't use them anyway :(

World Leader Development Quests (WLDQ's) / Bilvikki
« on: February 05, 2006, 09:46:11 am »
Character Name: Bilvikki Current Level: 20 EXP to Level to NEXT level: 232788  .............................................................................................................................................................................................................................  Original Bio below:  Full Name: Bilvikki Age: 25 Class(es): Wizard Race: Goblin Subrace: NA Alignment: Chaotic Good Deity: Shadon Domains (if cleric): NA Short Bio/Description:   This is the life Bilvikki thought, soaking contentedly in the large wooden tub of steaming hot water. He ducked under the surface for a moment then shot up, blowing soapy bubbles at his familiar sitting attentively by the side of the bath. The sight of the wizened old Imp desperately trying to get soap bubbles out of its eyes caused him to giggle inanely for a few moments. This is sooo much better than  that dank old cave he said aloud. So much better. He became sombre while he remembered those poor deluded relatives of his, all 485 of them...dead and forgotten now of course. He sighed, all those lives wasted...all those hours shut up in the dark working the thin veins of silver that laced through the stony walls of their home. Always at the beck and call of their dark masters, the drow. Kill this, pillage that, murder this man, steal this item...it was always the same. No wonder his now deceased clan had served a god like Shadon, to whom life was irrelevant. Bah he murmured Bah and humbug the gods had no appeal to him.  He settled back into the tub again, sighing with pleasure. Oh what a marvellous decision he’d made after his clan was massacred by those maurding Gnolls. Who would have thought a Goblin could live and prosper in a human city. He thought back to that night...when alone and badly wounded he’d somehow ended up outside the city. It was the last place he’d wanted to be...the humans, his races  ancient enemy would kill him on sight. He remembered how he’d collapsed into the defensive ditch that surrounded the city. Certain  that this was the end, come the morning some patrol would find him and cut his throat. But it didn’t happen... no it didn’t he said. His Imp  smiled wickedly...he knew exactly what was going through his masters mind. Bil never thanked you for that Anoxis, did Bil?...Well Bils thanking you now faithful companion” he said to the Imp. As he had laid there exhausted from fear and loss of blood, the Imp had lured  an old gnome to his masters body and then killed him swiftly before he could report the injured goblin. Then it had dressed his masters wounds and helped him into the gnomes volumous clothes. Bil then had the great idea...didn’t he? he said looking at the Imp, which  sighed and nodded faithfully. Bil thought, Bil thinks Bil looks like gnome maybe man thinks so too and there it was, the decision made. So into the city he went and he had never looked back.  Oh it was hard at first...he didn’t know how to live in a city for a start, he didn’t know how to speak to people and how to make money to live. But he’d worked it out. He’d always had a talent for magic...small magics really, that impressed his relatives and made his place within the clan. Now he passed himself off as an old gnome magician and had soon become very popular and more importantly rich, preying on the fears and personal problems of the weak and feeble minded, of which there seemed to be an awful lot in this city. But  as the years passed, his hunger for knowledge had increased rapidly so he’d studied every piece of literature he could find on the arcane arts and recently he’d learnt enough to study with Rim Hawthorne a renown wizard of the city. He’d had his first lesson that very morning. He sighed and relaxed in his bath thinking of the glorious future life had in store for him. As soon as he could, he would learn how to cast a long lasting glamour to cover his racial heritage he thought...yes that would be the best.  His Imp suddenly flew up to the window over the bath and knocking a heavy plant pot into the water. Soil rapidly turning to mud and  bits of plant stuck to Bilvikis body Anoxis...what do you think you doing? You spoil Bils bath Bilviki shouted leaping out of the water.  But the Imp ignored him. It was peering through the window looking anxiously into the street. Oh what got you so scared? Bilviki  grumbled wiping the filth off himself. Bah he said as he pushed his familiar out of the way. Something seemed to be happening  down in the street below, vague figures moved about but he couldn’t make them out through the dirty glass. In his anger he forgot  himself and opened the window. Oh...” he said as he realised that what he was seeing below was hundreds of angry human eyes  looking back up at him in the window. In front of the mob was Rim Hawthorne his tutor and in his hand he had a small flask of dark  oil. Obi di et dua an kat he intoned, throwing the oil through the front window of the house. It burst into a brilliant column of flame  which quickly spread throughout the ground floor.  Think you could fool me Rim shouted “ knew what you were from the moment you stepped into my school GOBLIN!!.  Its true...It’s a  goblin someone shouted in the mob. Kill the beast someone else cried out. And then the whole mob erupted, shouts and cries of  Burn Burn Burn and Die stabbed upwards at Bilviki like hate filled daggers.  He screamed and jumped back from the window Oh  Oh Oh what Bil do?  he cried in a panic. The floor was already hot and he knew it would soon burn through. He felt faint suddenly  and almost fell to the ground but Anoxis was suddenly there throwing soapy water into his face. His mind cleared Bilviki knew what  he had to do. He turned to the window and climbed out onto the narrow sill, to his left was a cast iron drainpipe which he grabbed  hold of trying to ignore the hatred of the crowd below. Bil no can die no can die he sobbed over and over again as he slowly climbed  to the roof. A sharp pain flared in his shoulder...they were throwing things at him now he realised, trying to make him fall. In his fear  he climbed faster and soon reach the roof helped by Anoxis who flew alongside him pulling him upwards with sharp clawed hands  and feet.  Suddenly a horn sounded and the crowd quietened. Bilviki looked down and saw that the city militia had arrived armed with heavy  crossbows and long steel pikes. They were led by the captain of the guards himself, a giant of a man looking almost godlike to Bilviki  with his plate armour shining brightly in the afternoon sun. Oh Bil scared Bilviki murmured under his breath. The captain went over to  talk to Rim who nodded and looked upwards. The wizards spread out his arms and made a few strange gestures whilst chanting quietly.  A blaze of white light erupted upward catching Anoxis in its embrace and knocking the Imp into the wall. Anoxis shrieked as the light ate  into his body and he faded from view. Bilviki screamed and nearly fell as the pain of the familiars banishment danced along his nerve  endings like tiny knives. He leant against the chimneystack fresh tears upon his cheeks.  You have three choices Goblin the captain shouted upwards. One you get a crossbow bolt through you wizened little throat. Two if you  escape that you burn to death with the house. There’s nowhere for you to run. Or three you give yourself up to us for questioning and if  your information is useful you may receive leniency. The crowd grumbled at this they wanted blood. Its up to you Goblin..You have three  minutes to decide.  Bilviki thought quickly, he knew that the first two options were true...there was nothing to be done about that. But the third...he didn’t trust  the men folk below but he couldn’t see another way out. At least that way would assure his survival for another few hours at least and if  he died he hoped it’d be quick. He looked over the edge of the roof...the flames were licking out of the bathroom window now. He’d have  to go now if he hope to escape the flames. Fearfully he made his way down.  He sat sobbing in the damp cramped cell nursing his burns from the fire, he’d only just made it down in time and his bruises from the  guards interrogation ached fiercely. He’d told them everything once they’d brought him back to the jail...what else could he do? He was  to unsettled to lie convincingly and besides he couldn’t think of anything that would make them let him go. Plus the captain had only just  told him that he’d be put to death in the morning. What Bil do now? Do now he sobbed. He was doomed. A heavy lethergy crept upon him  and soon he felt himself drift off to sleep, but before the blackness took him he had a feeling of being watched, as if great and all seeing  eyes were gazing steadily into his very soul.  He dream't of a ruined stone temple...there was a faint mist in the air and the smell of moist soil soothed his nostrils. A great voice bade  him welcome and as he turned around he almost died in fright. Before him stood a great dragon...It spoke of many things but mainly of a  coming war and the heros called to fight and save a threatened world. Bilviki was to be one of those heros. He felt that if he wasn’t so afraid  he’d burst out laughing...but as the dragon spoke he felt the truth of the words in his heart and the spark of something else....hope.  .............................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Recent History  I was going to make a list of all the quests that Bil has been in but when I looked back on the calender for the past year and a half I realised that it was about 70% of all the quests I'd been on and that is an awful lot.  So I decided to write a quick precis of a couple of  the things that have most affected him and which could be used for an ECDQ.  Firstly is the relationship which Bil has with the god Shadon.  Like most goblins Bil was a Shadonite although he was not devout in any way (probably like most goblins who knows?).  But as Bil grew in arcane knowledge and power he became more and more aware of Shadon and begin to feel that the god was starting to notice him.  Bil didn't really like this at all.  Although he didn't dislike Shadon as such Bil is too much of a snob to really be seen as worshiping him, after all its not really the sort of god that a powerful wielder of arcane magic would follow.  He tryed to convert to other gods but Shadon always had the upper hand and Bil would come off worse ending up embarressed and humiliated as well as still being under Shadons power.  Bil also felt that he was at the rough end of the gods pranks, stupid things would  seem to happen to him all the time.  Nothing really bad but the sort of thing that the god would find amusing.  So Bil used to pour scorn on  the god at every opportunity he could, unfortunately he always had the suspicion that the god found this amusing too.  On the other hand he knows that Shadon has his best interests at heart but he wishes that Shadon had no idea who he is, even though it seems to Bil as  evidence of his growing power that a god has an active interest in him.  Then during the quest of angels tear Anoxis was killed and ripped to pieces by a golem and Bil was devastated.  Bil buried him close to were he fell as he couldn't pursade anyone to raise an evil old imp. Shortly afterwards Bil was also killed and when he was raised by Plen the goddess Katia wrenched him from Shadons grasp and he became  a follower of Katia.  At the time of writing this is the situation.  But hopefully by the time of the ECDQ Shadon will have won him back and  raised the imp Anoxis too.  I've no doubt that there will be ramifications to this and I'll post them on the end of this submission when I know them.  Secondly Bil bought an umberella from an innoculous looking travelling salesman in Krandor a long time ago but shortly after buying it he realised that it was not all it seemed to be.  Firstly it seemed to have miraculous powers it once carried him hundreds of yards through the air from a ship to the shore when all the others had to swim.  It floated him down from cliffs when otherwise he would have been badly or seriously hurt and he seemed to feel a sense of limitless power emanating from it, although he couldn't tell what it was.  Then one day  he discovered that it could transform from an umbrella to a staff although he still couldn't determin what else he could do, although he realised that its power was deeply connected with the power of illusion which of course is Bil's specilist school of magic and more  importantly perhaps; the domain of the god Shadon.  Bil began to belive rightly or wrongly that the staff was sent by Shadon to him for  some reason although he still hasn't a clue on why or what for.  Thirdly Bil was part of the party that helped rid the world of Xandrial and this he has added to his his list of things to write in his memoirs.  Fourthly When Bil was new to the world he found living in Hlint very difficult.  Goblins had only just started to be called by the dragon and adventurers were not used to seeing them in town.  Consequently he spent most of his time avoiding people in an effort to stay alive, but ironically perhaps Bil befriended two dwarves...Kobal and Harg, and for a long time he would aid them in their quests around the world. Later when he grew stronger in power he had the confidence to strike out on his own or join other parties in their efforts to rid the world of evil.  Recently he has helped Kobal along with a group of intrepid adventures in his ECDQ and aided in the destruction of the blood pool. Now as a goblin he is recoganised as an offical friend of dwarves, he has a sneaking suspicion that Shadon actually insigated all the  elements of this quest just to put one in the eye of Vorax.  Fifthly Bil is carrying one of the dreamers from the nightmare quest series...he's not sure how he feels about this but since its not put any real demands on him him uptil now, he has in typical goblin fasion put it to the back of his mind.  Lastly Much to Bil's chargain he had to represent Shadon in the congregration of the faithful quest series, even though he wasn't a cleric  or a paladin like all the others were.  For months afterwards as he fell asleep he could hear the god laughing in his dreams.  .............................................................................................................................................................................................................................  ECDQ  I'm happy for the DM to decide all the aspects of the ECDQ although I would ask if that it could somehow involve Shadon, perhaps he will be behind it all in the end...I don't know.  Another suggestion might be Bil trying to unite the various goblin tribes into an army to fight blood the goblins have always been the cannon fodder of the more powerful.  Maybe that could change but it would need a leader...however Bil is not a skilled negotiator (zero persaude and 10 char), on the other hand he could end up as a prophet of Shadon, maybe as a cleric an emissary  from the god might have more luck but thats all up to the DM to decide, I'm happy to go along with it as I don't mind if he multiclasses or stays  as a pure wizard.  Or maybe Shadon will have another task for the reluctant Bil especially if he does end up a cleric.  The staff might be a good  prop as well, a staff of illusion sent by Shadon perhaps (although Bil can't actually carry quarterstaffs so it is in fact a gem setting tool).  Maybe it will prove to be something else, perhaps a dagger or even a servant of Shadon trapped in the staff needing to be freed. Whatever happens I'm happy for it to be a surprise :).    .............................................................................................................................................................................................................................  EPIC LEVELS  This depends on the ECDQ.  Bil will have to come to terms with Shadon eventually.  If he stays a pure wizard that will take longer than if he's a cleric although I'm sure his relucance regarding his god will continue to some degree.  I'd like to see Bil being involved with other goblins to some degree although if they do fight with us against Blood I'm not sure what effect that will have on the NPC's in the game...mainly the  redlight goblins, I can't see us continuing to kill them indiscriminately if they're our allies.  But whatever happens I can see Bils epic levels more in a religious sense than they have been upto now, that and his determination to excel in the school of illusion.
