Layonara Server / Assistance needed please
« on: October 25, 2006, 04:27:36 pm »
Leanthar was kind enough to send me a reminder about tomorrows update which will remove all items from chests.   I am currently in the Leilon Arms and I am unable to get to my items due to the door being blocked by a bookshelf.

Would it be possible to get a GM to zap it so that I can get the items I would like to keep.

Thanks!

Leringard Arms Inn and Tavern / Late last night in Leilon. . .
« on: July 13, 2006, 03:45:51 pm »
There was a sharp metallic *TINK followed by an array of curses that caused the sailors near the Leilon Docks to take notice.

Derrick looked at the broken key in his gauntleted hand and then slammed a gauntleted fist into the heavy oak door embedding what was left of the key deep into the wood.

"What in blazes...  locked out of me own Inn!!!"

Just then Derrick noticed a shiney brass plaque by the door frame.

"FRELDO!!!!"  WHAT!  BAH!  WHY I'LL...

Derrick unsheathed his blades and began cursing incoherently.  Most of the townsfolk shrunk away...  those that didn't run.

Derrick's shouts and curses subsided into muttering...  "Bah... what I fall into a hole for what?  A year or so... and Freldo takes over me place?"

A year...

Had it been that long?

Derrick sheathed his blades and walked slowly out of town...  south..  towards Hlint...  looking for Freldo...

Stealing is a bannable offense.

It doesn't matter if it is in an accessable container or behind an unlocked door.  If you are in someone's house or establishment an open door or crate it is NOT an invitation to load up with everything you can carry.

The reason I am posting this is about a week ago all of the pies and all of the drinks at the bar were stolen from the Leilon Arms. I have heard that other things were taken from at least one tenant as well.  Not only did the items constitute dozens of hours of work, but YOU adversly effected the game for everyone that would come by for food and drink at the arms.

If for some reason you thought you were playing the single player game where you can take everything that isn't nailed down fine... I would appreciate it if the items were returned.

If not then I hope you are caught soon and Banned.  There is no place for you here.

Leringard Arms Inn and Tavern / A Stormy afternoon in Leilon. . .
« on: February 06, 2006, 11:38:52 am »
*The bottles rattle with a certian methodic melody as Derrick carries some of his latest brews from the kitchen to the bar.  He begins stacking the bottles and making notes in the ledger when heavy footsteps can be heard.

"Bar's closed"

"Oh, yes I am aware of your hours Mr. Loadson."

Derrick stands and looks over the bar at the Priestess.  He nods and notices there are several others with her, wearing light blue laquered full plate armor with intricate seashell designs.   The ones in armor carried heavy flails that were ovbiously enchanted as electrical sparks danced around sharp and wicked looking spikes.

Derrick grinned, "Your not the usual group that picks up orders for the temple..."

The Priestess smiled, but the smile was quite humorless.   "The Tide sends Her greetings and wishes a favor."

Derrick scratches his chin.  "The Tide eh?  She has been fair in our business dealings.  I'm listenin?"

"Still smiling.  Nothing that would impose too much on such a mutually beneficial business relationship.  We merely seek information."

Derrick stands with his arms crossed.  He nods slightly for the Priestess to continue.

The priestess pulls out a scroll and spreads it out on the bar.  On the scroll is a vivid picture of a diminutive cloaked figure.  "We are looking for this person.   Have you seen him?"

Derrick looks at the picture for a moment.  "I might know him... hard to tell with the hood an all."

"Oh? spoke the Priestess, her voice seemed to rumble slightly like waves breaking on the shore"

"Why yer want him fer?"

The Priestess's voice calmed quickly.  "He recently made a... donation at the Temple...  the Tide sent us to thank him... personally.   The Tide would look favorably on your establishment would that you could aid us in bringing... her blessing to one so deserving. . ."  The Priestess looked up, her face placid yet a deep stirring could be seen within her eyes.

Derrick regarded the Priestess for a moment.    "A fella lookin like this rented a room here about a year ago.  He moved out an I haven't seen him since.  I'm not even sure if he is who yer lookin fer."

"What was his name Mr. Loadson.   If you wouldn't mind", smiled the Priestess.

"Taislin er somethin like that.  Me ledger only goes back a few months.  Our residents fluctate often."

"Ah.  Thank you Mr. Loadson."   The Priestess motions to her armored followers who strap their weapons and begin collecting the crates marked for the temple.    She places a bag of gold on the bar.  "Here you are... and you will find a little extra for your time."

Derrick nods and lifts the bag. He smiles and nods at the Priestess again.

General Discussion / 15 hours of Layonara
« on: January 30, 2006, 07:10:10 am »
I wanted to share my experiences and thank all those involved in bringing me the best gaming experience.  This is what makes Layo so great.  The NWN wallpaper is a good setting but it is Leanthar, the GMs and the rest of the team behind the scenes that makes this truely the absolute best!

Friday 6:00pm Derrick CDQ part 3 - If anyone has had the pleasure to be involved with one of Reventage's quests you will know what I am talking about.  This part of my CDQ was solo for me.  The twists and turns, the betrayals, and the splendid portrayal of NPCs is fantastic.  The plot and play is so well done I forget that there is a GM there running it.   The events unfold naturally and Rev has such a way with making tense situations.   The event lasted a couple of hours which blended into the Leilon Arms opening...

... which a few characters were involved in my CDQ providing some information without knowing the plot.  It blended naturally. The Arms was hosting a Celebration of Heros to honor those that have brought victories to the Alliance.   Specifically the group that had rid Layonara of one of Blood's Generals.   Ozy was there spining the tale of how Xandril was delivered back to the Abyss.  Derrick introduced Dwarfs Head Ale to Ozymandias...  whom even with his legendary fortitude was seen kissing the floor after gulping down one.  The night went well, drinking and dancing and merchants selling wares.  Then it happened...  the door burst open and Connor stumbled in bleeding profusely mumbling about demons in Leilon.   The heros gathered their weapons and filled with liquid courage and some well cast buffs ran into the streets looking for demons to slay.   But...  the Demoness...  was not so lowly as to be taken unawares...  the Succubus was a Veteren of many lifetimes and she slew all that were in her path.  She dealt indiscriminate death killing heros, livestock and horses.   The celebration was over and as the succubus stepped over her victums she licked each face laughing wickedly.  I don't know who ran this but perhaps it was a wake-up call to the heros that the war was far from over. . .

Saturday 5:30am  Back into the undead filled halls of Norand. . .  we continue Kobal's ECDQ to retake the halls of his kin and to destroy the bloodpool contained within.   The traps are truely evil in design.  Trying to deterine how to use ancient dwarven machinery has been an adventure in itself.   Being in a group with half a dozen dwarves is also an adventure =)    We have faced countless undead and hordes of demons on our way to the goal.   It is just a splendid quest all around.   Storm and Pankoki make an excellent team.   They are truely making this Epic Character Development Quest,  Epic.

Kobal's ECDQ ends at 10:30 so I take a break to get food and then back on at noon for Operation Bloodfall.   Wow.  This Quest was made for Derrick.   Front line confronting the enemy.  Epic battles.  From the exhilaration of seeing the ships assembled to the excitement of hearing the "Secret Weapon" roar and tear into the Demons on the shore to the heart racing challenge of fullfilling the groups mission...  just fantastic.  Managing over 35 characters...  phenomenal.   I even got a chance to slap both Eon and Drezneb with my blades... how cool is THAT!   At one point I was one on one with Eon.  While my flurry of blows was doing nothing it still felt good to slap him around for a bit.  Give him a taste of an enemy in his face like we have experienced thus far.   The last battle at the portals was INSANE!   The feeling after knowing we had actually beaten Blood on the battlefield for the first time ever was amazing.  While this was mostly a bash quest, there was definately some RP and the setting perfect.   It made all the work during the collections worth while.   The battle is over at 4:00pm...  a bathroom break more food and back on...

... at 5:00pm for Leanthar's quest.   A LOT was packed into this hour.   We got to see another facet of the war.  While not as direct as the battle on Roldem it was just as important in our war against Blood.   Some interesting information and more of the tale unfolded at Shifter's Tower.   We now have a piece of what we need to actually beat Blood himself...  but how will we take the next step?  Just great cliffhanger stuff.

Thank you all involved.  Leanthar, GMs, content team and the players!   It was an amazing time!!!!

The wine bottle hit the floor with a loud KA THUNK!  roll roll roll roll THWAK!

Derrick sits up quickly on the couch awakened by the noise...  his blootshot eyes looking around still trying to focus.  He stands and starts to take a step but instead he pitches forward barely catching himself on the desk of the Leilon Arms office.  He turns to find Kali curled up on the floor asleep by the couch still cluching a wine bottle in her outstretched hand.  Red locks drape across the wine stained toga and a slight smile is on her face.  Occasionally a soft murmur would escape from her lips.  Derrick grinned as he looked at her and the events of the previous night's party slowly began to awake in his mind.  Derrick removed the empty wine bottle from her hand and then gently lifted Kali from the floor and placed her on the couch.  Kali giggled in her wine induced slumber as she wrapped her arms around him.   Derrick pulled away grinning and drapped his cloak over her sleeping form.

Derrick turned and walked from the office into the Tavern.  Dozens of wine bottles littered the floor.  Smashed grapes and half eaten fruit and cheese lay on tables and bookshelves.  He stepped over the sleeping forms of several more party goers as he walked toward the bar discovering more people sleeping on the floor, on couches and tables.   A pungent smell caused him to look around.  Drapped across a chair and on the floor were a pair of soggy woolen socks.  Extending out from under a table were a pair of feet.  Derrick lifted the table cloth and looked underneath to find a snoring Cole Norseman.   Derrick grinned as he remembered seeing Cole hit the floor after drinking those...  drinks that Kali gave him.

Derrick moved behind the bar.  There curled up by the liquor cabinet was Acacea, cuddling her Ale jar.  Several empty pie pans were haphazardly strewn about as were a dozen or so wine bottles.  Derrick pulled out a Tower Malt and drained it.   There on the bar was a flyer about the toga party.   Derrick thought that a year would be too long before such an event should happen again.

Derrick decided to forgo the cleaning up.  There was still time before the Inn would be open for the evening festivities.   Let them sleep it off.   He removed the cork from another Ale an drank deeply.   Competition of the drink is tonight he thought.  Better start practicing. . .

Thank you Reventage/Otaking/Griffith for a dangerous dangerous and thrilling delve into a dark place.  I feel very fortunate to have you running my CDQ.  Your masterful play of NPCs is perfect and your creativity knows no bounds.

I would also like to give props to the Characters involved in my CDQ.  This was an extremely tough place and with teamwork we managed to get through.

Special thanks to the flawless trap triping of Ozymandias

Special thanks to Plenarius for the ever so gentle touches of Katia that helped us through

Fantastic bladework by Dread Blade commander Cole Norseman, The Enigmatic Master Jet, and of course Mighty Quin

The Soothing Songs and Solid friendships of Jharl and Kali

I'm still smiling ear to ear.

This is what Layonara is truely about.  Thank you!

I just logged on to East for my CDQ at noon and got blasted and killed on the docks just as I logged in.  I was automatically booted from the Server with a message to log on to Central.

Now I am on Central at the bind stone in Delanthar...  with all the effects of a death.

I have a CDQ starting in 15 minutes on East. . .

ATTENTION!

With the fall of Stone on Rilara our main import of Hops no longer exists.  However the Leilon Arms will NOT I repeat WILL NOT be raising the price of ale.  We will not try and profit over such a catastrophy.

So come and drink and take courage in these dark times.

Fixed Bugs / Kitchen Appliances
« on: December 20, 2005, 05:32:00 am »
A few months ago a kitchen was added to the Leilon Arms.   It has been a great help in bringing fine food and the best drinks to the people.

We are missing a farmers press, a farmers mill and a brewer's oven.   I was wondering if we could get those added.  I would be willing to pay to have those appliances installed.

THANKS!

. . . as the last customers leave.  Derrick wipes down the oak bar with an ugly blue checkered rag.  He grins mischieviously as he thinks about wince it came.  He starts collecting the empty tankards when he hears the door to the Inn creak open.  He looks up expectantly... but it isn't who he thought. . .

A faint familiar whistling could be heard as the barbarian walked up.  "Another good night eh? A little slow though," stated Jharl   "Why the long face?"

"What?!" blurted Derrick.  "Bah! Nothin" Derrick turned tosses the tankards into a bucket.

"Well we didn't get a single act tonight... " said Jharl glancing over at the weekly poster.

"Some lass told a fair tale while yer was gone.  So I gave her a meal on the house."

"Oh?  Well not a true competition with only one contestant anyway...  and I was all set with a tale of my own..."  *Whistles The Song of the Scarlet Hawk.

"Surely with all the folk runnin around they would be innerested in a somethin like this.  Maybe I should make the prize a little more. . .  tempting."

Derrick takes the poster down and alters it.  "How bout this?" Derrick turns the posture to Jharl.

"Oh say now, thats quite a prize. If that doesn't draw some fine entertainment...  nothing will."

Derrick Nods.  "I'll make up some better posters an have a runner take em around."

"We should have another Competition of the Drink soon as well," stated Jharl.

"We will...   when Kali returns."

"Now...  about our new endevour."  Derrick unfurls a large scroll. . .

*Whosh whosh whosh whosh whosh whosh whosh whosh whosh SMASH!!!!!

The oak chair exploded in a shower of splinters as it hit the wall of the Leilon Arms.  Incomprehensible curses followed.

Minutes later the door to the Leilon Arms burst open and out came the spiked armor clad owner. . .

. . . the freshly laquered lavendar and purple spiked armor clad owner.

Derrick stormed off to the Metal Vendor muttering.  The only comprehensible words were... kill.... gut... strangle...

I just opened some chests in 121 Leilon (Leilon Arms) and there seems to be two of each peice of furniture.
For xample when I open a chest I can veiw the contents, howver it looks like there is another chest.

I turned a peice of furniture and there is another of the same piece underneath left unturned.

Will this be a problem on reset.

What about the contents of containers?

General Discussion / Derrick's CDQ
« on: December 03, 2005, 04:57:00 pm »
I wanted to thank Reventage/Otaking for my outstanding CDQ today.   I really REALLY like the direction it is going even though in the beginning I was clueless (and it showed)  Finally...  thankfully I caught on before it was too late.

While the slow beginning made for some challenging role play, I liked that it happened that way.   It helped me to grow as a character...  and it helped me to grow as a player.

It is very evident that Reventage/Otaking put a tremendous amount of thought, planning and work into my CDQ.   Thank you again.

A special thank you to the players that came along and had to sit it out while I struggled.
