General Discussion / On the wind MOVED
« on: November 26, 2014, 04:22:27 pm »
Of course the day I finally put a quest up again is the rare moment that I actually have RL plans that I didn't know anything about. So this event has been moved to next friday. My apologies and I hope to see you guys pull on your RP pants and come out to play.

Rumour Has It / On the wind...

Hoof beats echo on the sound of the wind. Flashes of beautiful women turn into simple glimpses of trees evocatively shaped trees. Is that a forest fire? No it's just a swirl of Autumn leaves in the breeze... http://layonara.com/calendar/event/on-the-wind

Development Journals and Discussion / A Dance at Dawn
« on: October 13, 2013, 10:34:42 am »
After my prayers to the mistress this morning and a cleansing from the ichor of the previous night I stopped to reflect on the scarecrows. It's odd for me to care about this little boy as I have never had even the slightest tinge of motherly instinct. Sam is on the cusp of adolescence and he is coming into his power... a sorcerors power. He is going to be quite powerful someday judging from the mayhem that ensues when his emotions over come him. I gave him my cloak and told him it was blessed by Xeen and will keep him safe. It has calmed his emotions enough that the attacks seem to have subsided. I am still going to remain near by, if for no other reason than to make sure that rofer, Aesthir I think he said his name was, doesn't try to punish him for crimes he never actually intended to commit. I didn't care for the way he looked at the child nor that he tried to condemn him for things beyond his control, it seemed the man Jared was on the same page as me and for that I am thankful as I don't think I yet have the power to stand up against this rofer myself. I will though... in time. It didn't hurt that this Jared had a rugged alure to him. He wasn't a handsome man, but nimble which has a draw of its own. I sang to the birds last night while the others slept. It wouldn't do to let my voice go just because I have turned to the life of a missionary, a well honed song can serve the mistress in purpose as well....

Roleplaying / Tell Ice a Story
« on: September 27, 2013, 10:43:22 pm »
I've missed a lot of great quests and lore while I was gone. I've read A LOT of things in preparation for my return to tormentin...erm...dming the masses but I feel like I'm missing some great things. With that in mind I am asking for help from you guys.Tell me a story, in character, about something you have seen, heard, participated in etc.I will give one fortune to each character that tells me a story. That being said there needs to be a little substance to the story to qualify for the fortune point. Thanks guys!

Development Journals and Discussion / Dru Rigbliu - A Ranger in training
« on: October 04, 2011, 04:12:01 am »
The journal looks to be written in a neat hand but the ink appears to be made from mud. There is a bit of soaking where the mud ink bled into the paper but it is still pretty legible.

I've been chopping a lot of dead branches off trees and picking cotton. Who knew being a ranger meant pruning every darned plant I see. It's like being on the farm but scarier cause bears chase me..and orcs...and kobolds... and goblins... and fish men... and skunks... and bugbears... and gnolls... and everything else that might see me. Skunks though, skunks are the WORST. They are smelly and then they make me smelly, then they made chancy smelly and then me smellier and... well it was just a bad smelly day.

I made some tanglefoot bags today out of some mean old badgers that tried to chase me and a silk gland out of this ettercap man spider thing that also tried to chase me. I am getting pretty good at the leather making but not very good at the bow making.

OOOH I saw the wolfswood rangers the other day! I was over with Faylong trying to deliver this letter to this farmer and I met them. They were all very busy so I didn't keep them. I had SOOO many questions though, maybe I can go back and catch one.

We kinda found the farmer eventually.. some big kitties chased us there. The farmer told us about his cow so we went to find her. We got chased by this big fat griffon that tried to eat us... looks like he had eaten the cow. After the buffalo chased us back to the camp we gave the farmer the collar from his cow. It was sad.

On the way back to the boat I got chased by some swamp men, I think we made a wrong turn. I got dead that day.

I sure do get chased a lot...

Rumour Has It / *A note posted around various inns and groves*

Greetings Old friends and new,

Quantum and I, Brisbane, will be gathering just outside of Prantz in the near future to delve into the depths of the undead threat that still plagues these lands. While I know there are other threats both greater and more pressing the small threats left unbalanced will simply grow into massive horrors. That being said please join us in making new allies and friends while we work together to put these souls to rest. If nothing else you can see a Druid and a Toranite work together as old friends which I hear is a rarity in itself.

While we aren't keeping with any skill requirements we would ask that you know how to handle yourself or do not mind visiting the bindstone terribly much as we are not here to babysit.

May the Balance bless you,
Brisbane

Putting this on the calendar for Monday, September 12th at 11:00 am Eastern daylight time (gmt -4)

No level requirement but don't be upset if you get smooshed

written without the dwarven accent because honestly... who writes with an accent?! ;)

Went to the craft hall today and wouldn't you know it. Some bloomin' elf was in there with a dragon thing. Well I told him to get his darned dragon thing out of there on account of because so much wood! He just sat there like he was barmy between the ears. Came and apologized later so I went down under the craft hall with him to smash some vermin. SO MUCH RATS! Of course my trusty war hammer made short work of them but that barmy in the head elf kept setting me on fire and once... he shot me in the arse with electricity... said I wasn't tall enough to tell from a beetle. Short in the brain long in the hair that elf, spindly little worm armed muffin lover. Then I realized he was just a touch blind on account of because more beetles came at us and he just stood there staring at them, he finally admitted it. Can't fault a lad for needing glasses I guess but I got my eye on that one. Come to think of it...he never did tell me his name.

*This small thick book is covered in what looks to be charcoal. Closer inspection would reveal the cover to be made of a grey slate. There are flames carved in the cover, some crudely and some rather well done. The grooves are filled with a red enamel.*

The first page is just a crudely drawn picture of a prison style shiv. Its then scribbled out and next to it is drawn a large 2 handed greatsword with flames wrapped around the blade.

To Agmundr Nokkadrumbaer and Vell'dryn Rydralle's for a nice night of RP and bringing a long lost druid up to speed on what is happening in the world, to Pibmanden for rescuing Brissy and to Tanman for happening to be around dming at the time as well. It's nice to see that even after so long there are still folks happy to sit around and tell stories.

Rumour Has It / Katherian

*a message put up anywhere it would attract a person of law or morality...Vorax, Toran and Rofireinite temples etc*

The entrails of a gnome whos name is not yet known have recently been cleaned from the trees of Katherian. We have enough poverty, prostituion and slavery in these dark times that we do not need a vile murderer running the streets as well. Let us meet in Port Hempstead and form a plan to begin righting the wrongs of these dire times!

Introduce Yourself / The Ice Dragon
« on: March 12, 2007, 08:19:39 pm »
I stumbled acrossed Layonara in October of 2004 while browsing a DnD website for more goodies to throw at my PnP players. It was there that I saw the link to a persistent world... having just finished the single player campaign I clicked over and browsed around. I wasn't much into online games at the time but I liked to role play so I gave it a go.

I almost left the world right away feeling totally out of place until I met one GM on his player character. He welcomed me into a group heading to the grey peak mountains and taught me some of the ropes. You can all blame Seth for my getting hooked on this place ;)

It wasn't long into playing that orth further hooked me got me interested in building and helping him out with some smaller tasks he had, then Rhizome got me interested in GMing... from there I joined the team and really the rest is history.

Outside my online persona I am a 27 year old television production engineer. Ive worked for several affiliate stations and one live call in talk show. I now spend most of my pen and paper time as a player... though mostly we eat pizza and talk about things like Dead Rising and the evils of warcraft.
