I just wanted to send out a thanks to all the intrepid higher levels that ferried Mimir through some nasty Under Places last night. Lots of fun (except for the period of looking at my corpse ha!) Thanks to Mangus for raising me and for everybody coming back - Gromak, Rasa, Grog, and Kalberen (sp.)The funniest moment for me (and I wish I could have gotten a screenshot) was everyone standing around looking at Mimir's prone form and Gromak asking Mangus - the party medic - "Are you sure that was the right spell??" Next time I promise to stay away from the mage...

Once again I got lured back here. And Layo is still here! I joined almost 10 years ago and you guys have squeezed every drop of fun and RP out of the clunky ancient Aurora engine. Dorg and Onest8 and Orth and everyone else involved in building and maintaining should all be running the government with that kind of efficency hahaI was skmiming the site and saw some familiar names and missed not seeing others. I knew soooo many people like Seteece, Pathfinder, Celgar, Marainna, Brutus (yes I saw you on here you old dog), Ollom, Cole Einfall, Dorganath (shared a house haha) Bris, Plen, Rakish, Farros (oh, the kilts!) and too many others to name and try to spell. Heck I even remember an attempted server attack by a disgrunted player! I had a great time playing Fian and Drawna especially and more recently Mimir.So once again I'm going to try and get into the PW I liked the most online.Now, the uncomfortable quesion - how the heck do I log in?? All my old server addresses don't work (but I know my NWN id !) I think I need another helpful PM from Minera or somebody *whimper*

Before I spend lots of coin, I wanted to double-check if I understand the allowable weapon damage enhancements here.
Lets use a basic longsword for example (bearing in mind any enhancements will change the level req. of the weapon). I know I can't do this:
Iron Longsword +1d4 Fire damage, +1d4 Cold damage
But can I do this?:
Iron Longsword +1d4 Fire damage, +1d4 Silver/Titanium damage (not elemental damage)
As far as resistances are concerned, can you add these to any equipable, inventory slot item? (Ring, cloak, belt, boots, etc.) I realize it may remove existing resistances so you could not put two different elemental resists on the same item and I also realize damage resistances of the same kind don't stack - the highest only is used to compute damage resistance.

I am unable to access one of my characters currently (Drawna Eldreal). I lost her transiting into the Battlehelm moors first screen from the Dapplegreen screen. When I log in and choose her to play, the Battlehelm area starts to load and then stops and NWN freezes. I have played two other characters since just fine, so it must be something with her. I even ran a character over to the same place and he transited fine. I think she might be cold, lonely and cranky by now.
Is there anything that can be done or should I wait for a server reset? Thanks in advance.

So I've started mapping Layo again as I used to do back in the old days and I noticed some locations on Mistone come up missing. I'm not asking for directions, just an idea if they even exist anymore after the server updates:
1. Dire Wood with spiders and ghosts
2. Fort Velensk and player arena thingy
3. Berhagen with giants! ( a place of many wacky party antics and death)
4. The snowy town of Lar and the Ulgrid fortress
Now I'm just about ready to continue mapping Dregar...
P.S. The re done areas look great! including the Moors east of Hlint and Mountains past Storan's :-)

I have finally got NWN working on my computer after being away for a good 4 years. I now completely forget how to actually log in to the servers. From what I recall I used to enter a direct IP address for each server. Wasn't there a password too? Also, if I don't recall my Bioware password will that be an issue? I can take some guesses on what it was.

Hello to Lyonara! Its been 5 years since I was last here and I'm so glad to see the world thriving still. I was also amazed to see all my old emails and threads in place; I think my characters are still locked up in the Vault too! If anyone remembers them: Fian Bearsark and Drawna Eldreal. I see some old names here and many new ones.
I have thought off and on about Layonara for all this time and I have always valued all the fun times and friendships I had here. I am hoping to try and get back in but I think it will be some technical issues that trip me up. I have a Mac now and I have the tough decision of trying to find old Mac copies of NWN (rare) or break down and buy a PC to use my original copies. I have read threads about Windows 7 issues with NWN as well (ugh!).
I am so excited to try and get Layonara back into my life :-) Thank you to everyone who has worked hard to keep Layonara online.

I am looking to find a source for polishing oil other than the Hlint merchants. If anyone can offer a lower price than what they charge, I would be interested in buying several bottles, perhaps a dozen at a time. I believe I can gather the materials for them as well, so you may only be tasked with mixing the ingredients for a service fee. I am often found in and around Hlint.

I am now ready to admit I am pretty confused as to how to customize shield appearances. I'll list what I have attempted so far and you can tell me what I did wrong.
I went to the customization forge in the Craft Hall of Hlint with a regular copper tower shield I had bought ( I used the customization station that looks like a forge)
I clicked and received 3 options- Customize Armor, Shield, or Weapon.
I clicked on shield and was told I needed the shield crafting kit. I went and bought a kit.
I came back and clicked to receive only 2 options now - Craft Armor or Craft Weapon. The Shield option now doesn't show since I have the crafting kit.
Does the kit not work, the copper shield not work in customization or something else?

I am selling some fine gear for a dueling, grace fighter, each has served me well for a long time, but now I must sell it to upgrade some things.
The first is a fine rapier I used in my offhand:
Iron rapier +1 Enhancement, 1d4 Cold Damage, Low Light Blue (lvl 9 req. I think) 6,000 gold
The next is wonderful light clothing, supple and protective against fire:
Iron Reinforced Clothing +1 AC, No Max DEX limit, Fire Resist 5/-, Light Dim Red (not sure of level req.) 8,000 gold

Mimir sits at a table near the back of the Wild Surge Inn and drains a tankard of ale. After an obigatory belch, he digs out a battered, stained journal and fishes out a stylus.
"I've found myself holed up in Hlint for a while. Its a quiet enough town, though the areas around hold some danger to them. I can't find enough coin to get better armor. I'm left with the flimsy leather I left the Peaks in.
Many elves and humans about. It makes me more than a little unsettled. An elf lass spoke in the Father Tongue to me, I almost fell in the campfire at the sight and sound of that. I need to be more careful about what I say around these strangers.. i...a....bl....(*ale stain blots out the writing here*)
I saw a wee little man no more than 4 handspans high or so. He was cooking fish! He was well-spoken and polite enough. Called himself some gibber in Bird Chatter, then said he was also called Bumblebee.
Magic is borne by several from what I have seen, and it makes me even less trustworthy. Only thing worse than an elf chirping and casting is an elf chirping and casting behind me.
I have fought well so far, though my weapons are lacking. Me shield is better used to sift for gold than defend my left. Ah, well. I need coin, By Stone! I fought skeletons who hit hard, abominations who do not see the light of day. They hold some coin, though I wish it was more. I have bled alot since coming here, though I care little. I will kill just about anything I can get gold from at this point, regardless of the risk.

Drawna sat in a window booth in the Scamp's Mug Inn, watching the leaden clouds roll by over Hampshire. Before her sat the lunch special, picked over, and an empty glass of cheap wine. She had grown accustomed to the weak drink in her poverty. Thoughts tumbled about in her head with such violence she felt compelled for once to do something to quiet them. Digging through a pouch at her waist, she produced a stylus and a folded bundle of blank paper.
" I saw it. Pranzis. I did it with the help of Armolas. A dear man who was willing to help me sneak in and take a look around. I know we can get it back. We just need the time to be right. Oh, the trees there! They are all burnt....
Devastating and deeply saddening. But its there! The house is ok too. I couldn't see the garden but I think it's ok too. Armolas had some stuff to work through too I think. He was pretty broken up. (*note to self- sometimes sexy when men cry*)
I have met many people lately who are just great. This war has bonded. galvanized. A movement is already afoot to take back Pranzis:
Balazar - Paladin and all-around good guy, and actually has a sense of humor unlike most Tin Men. Even got a rose off him ! *smiley face drawn*
Thomas (didn't catch his last name) - another Tin Man, committed to leading a force to re-take Dregar. He seems serious to this end. Keep in touch with him
Elgon Merric (or is it Merrick?-can't remember) - he seems at peace in nature and probably alone, but seems to be a thinker.
Marainna! - oh, I realize now how I missed her! She was one of the first people I met and never forget she saved me from gobbies! I may give her some of my dresses I can't carry anymore.
Lark - a very ambitious cleric who is young but eager to see everything. Gotta stick with her for loot. Her magic is nice for combat *draws a devil face*
Marvis- a halfing ( I think-can't tell some of those shorties apart)- young but willing to travel and lay down a few spells. He may be of use down the road

I would like to thank all those in the Dire Wood romp last night for a great time. After a year and a half I decided to stop by and see how things have progressed. The first few times back, I didn't know anyone. Then slowly I saw a few people here and there that I remembered, and suprisingly, remembered me. Last night in a group of 9 others (Silverhand, Tannet, Tegan, and others I unfortunately can't recall) Drawna returned to the "old days" of Layo. This was my first online server ever, and it made quite an impression on me that seems to still remain. The RP was top-notch, people were deliberate in their speech and actions, and the tension before a battle was savored.
I fondly recall the days of parties of 8-10 people gathering to raid the Berhagen, grumbling, bickering, and boasting the whole way through. I can say from personal experience the fear of the wilds in Layo has always created strong parties and thus strong Roleplay. This unfortunately doesn't exist on many other servers. I hope to stop by in the days ahead to visit and wander about, though I will be doing so mostly with Drawna. When I left 18 months ago, Fian wandered through Hlint handing away gold and equipment to innocent bystanders. He is left only with his greatsword and kilt and not a penny to his name. (Think pensioner, though he still has all his teeth). Besides, Drawna has a much better wardrobe.
P.S. I was most impressed by all the hard work and organization that went into the LORE package. The list of PrC classes is tantalizing, and was one of the reasons I returned.

I have decided to leave Layonara for quite some time, possibly permanently. This was the first server I played on and I have learned alot about the game itself as well as learning all of the social aspects of a PW. My time here has generally been a positive one and I will miss many interactions with a long list of characters. I had some great experiences here, many of them downright hilarious, and I apologize to anyone who may miss Fian and Drawna; however I am confident with the new influx of characters these two will not be missed.
That being said, I would also like to express a caveat to those who build this community whether they be player or Dm/Administrator : Criticism is not a bad word. It really isn't. A thought expressed which is tangential to the existing state of things is a great thing. My reasons for leaving will not be listed here as I have seen what happens to a person who says such things in this context. Suffice it to say however, I think it would do many well to visit other servers and see how things are done. There is always room for improvement, especially improvement you are not open to. Perhaps this is the most valuable change to be made.
As I said I have learned a lot about this game engine and the PW community here. But I feel that learning is coming to an end in this place. My frustration level and discouragement is high here anymore. I am beginning to learn more on other servers, particularly on the server Amia (amiaworld.net) and a newer server called Silver Spire (silver-spire.com) I can be found on these two under a different screen name. (Hey if you like -try and guess who I am!--or just ask.)
There are a thousand things I could say here both for and against Layonara. I think really I will just say goodbye and good luck.
P.S. To anyone with whom Fian or Drawna have unresolved business negotiations, I will continue to look for you and finish anything I need to. Thanks.

A big thank you to Amaris for last night's quest. Firstly, it was great to finally find Lannisport - I never knew how to get there before. Secondly, thanks for having a quest in a time slot I could actually see through to the end. Thirdly, thanks for allowing us to stop flagrant pie abuse. I won't thank you for the baby Drake.
Also thanks to Atlas for his assistance where ever it was needed. I'll be looking for the sequel to this so I can see how we catch what we are supposed to catch alive!
