As I surf around the various video games, I consistently grow nostalgic for the worlds that defined me as an RP player. It is the world, not the game medium, that engaged me. The fellow players, the evolving world lore, the sense of belonging, that drew me in.
I am thankful that these forums still exist, as just a few other persistent NWN worlds still do, so that I may occasionally drop by. With each login of another game and world, it is still compared to the rich entertainment that past communities produced.
I still hold out hope... hold my breath... for a platform that may reunite our collective worldly imagination. Until then, my heart felt thanks to all those that influenced and contributed to my own virtual stories.
May the dragons continue to whisper.

My PC died some time ago so I'm restricted to PS4 (or fedora linux). Any games out there with good RP communities for PS4? The NWN:EE post looks interesting (may be enough to get me to purchase new PC). Was thinking about getting ARK; anyone played that?P.S. Glad to see the server still up.
Funny how a great server and community sticks in the mind... magical!I'm @PenNPopper over on Albion Online. Still looking for that "fix" of adrenaline rush RP. Not sure if Albion will work out but it has some of the game mechanics I like from NWN.Best wishes to everyone!
Idea: When examining a house door, list the PCs that have knocked on it similar to how a chest's description lists the contents and activity. Even more fun for those that leave theirs unlocked, list the comings and goings.
Dubbel needs more amethyst dust since burning through his entire supply or restore potions before dying at the bottom of the Silkwood spider cave. Anyone need silver or coal? He can mine and carry the heavy stuff, even smelting the silver trivial (if I recall).
I'll be online loitering at Corax Lake.
Alright, I really need some guidance here. For as long as I've been on the server it's been common when handling encounters to not take on the entire group at once. However, in getting booted out of Misted Village I was told this is not allowed since the spawns were created to be balanced as a whole.
Is it really a requirement that all groups must be taken on en masse?
I'm a bit paranoid now that at any moment a GM is going to come on and kick me for trying to tackle more challenging areas alone.
~ Wanted: Bodak Hunters ~
The half-giant Dubbel is seeking qualified hunters of bodak to teach him the skills required to successfully gather their teeth.
The first potion of heal will go to the experienced hunter, with subsequent potions divided equally.
Leave note on tree next to Storold's bench. Use small words.

Seeking Stardusts of Toran
A dirty halfgiant carries a slightly smudged list of gear through the markets in Dalanthar. He shows it to the weapons vendors and others interested.

Boots of Hardiness
Cloak of Fortification
Duergar Full Plate
Willing to work off any debt incurred through mercenary, guard, or other combat duties. More mundane skills include alchemy, tinkering, and carpentry.
Seek Dubbel in Dalanthar or camping north at the Crossroads
Wanted to give some thanks to Chazzler. All of his PCs, no matter their level, are always consistently willing to help out the lonely solo wanderers of the world. Whether it's offering guidance on free portals, switching PCs to make a needed gear sale, or just lobbing a potion into the battle, you can't go wrong with "partying" with Chazzler.
Dubbel is currently wearing platinum full plate and has an adamantium tower shield. Is there anything else that would increase his AC, both naturally for the no-magic areas, as well as against the "mad men?" He's 16th level.
I soloed him East out of the crossroads yesterday and it was... awesome! Fortunately he took one baddie at a time but didn't have a break between them. After the third or fourth went down and he got a chance to breathe he was one hit away from dead. As exciting as that was, I'd rather improve his fighting capabilities. Help!
The crisp air of North Point swirls with fat snowflakes and a new sweet smell. Although it has a certain burnt taint, the definitive tartness of pecan and blueberry pie wafts along the spiraling eddies of snow. The squirrels don't seem to mind the burn discards, and the few passable turnovers end up offered to those in need in Dalanthar and north at the Crossroads. The tiny server's normally green outfit is splattered with blueberry stains, though her bright smile remains unyielding in its display.
After sending a few tells to PCs of players that are WLs, I thought it might be time to stir the pot a bit.
You do know that you're WLs, right? World. Leaders. It would be better to apologize for being over-leaderly, don't you think?
Even the most mundane tale takes on legs when the town criers begin to tell it. "A Xeenite has been overheard asking about sources of hops... what has the world come to!?"
There are only a small handful of players actually playing, don't be shy about *bonking* them with your wands for RP you had as other personae. Really, WLs you need to encourage the type of play that epitomizes Layonara. No one is going to scold you, I'm sure, for giving props to players and their PCs.
Heck, bonk everyone you see online. I, for one, think the RP is fantastic these days. Maybe it's just easier to know everyone's story when there are only a couple score PCs.
In any case, levels don't matter on Layonara so double bonk us!
Center's modest market, really just a few tents and stick shelters, have seen a marked increase in popularity in recent days. Vendors from other townships have even begun hawking their goods. Times of need do indeed drive the industrious to innovation! In addition to the general goods vendors, a modestly stocked food chest remains near Prunilla's shrine. A richer selection is also available to those in need just across the path.
Through out all the hustle and bustle, the town crier continues with his woefully out of date tales.
A halfgiant, familiar to the travellers through Dalanthar, is once again a common sight at the crossroads to the North. Although not a big talker, it is clear from his grunts and willingness to display a pair of battle-worn axes that he has lack of small talk is made up for with a willingness for action.
My XP gathering halfgiant is in need of company North of Dalanthar. Since I despise (despise!) grinding for XP, he is only willing to travel places that garner kills of at least 250xp each kill. For him that means the bandit village or tougher.
Drop me a tell any time you see me online and I'll switch over to Dubbel and we'll go on a rampage in the mountains (or elsewhere).
He follows Mist and relishes the power of the storm. It is pointless to expect to succeed in wave after wave of enemies surging over you. His cry of "Thunder!" will likely be the last thing you hear before the entire party is swept under the crashing waves. You feel lucky against the Soul Mother today? Then let's go for a swim!
