Well... I thought I'd never leave but here we are!

It's been a blast, my thanks to L and the rest of the Dev team for one of the best servers out there... I've had a wonderful time.
Also thanks to everyone on the server, doh (Shush Chazzler), it's the community that makes this place what it is.

Meh, perhaps I'll be back, perhaps not - regardless, farewell for now!
I'll still pop on the forums every now and then (It IS my home page after all) maybe even IRC

Quests Ideas and Discussion / World of Darkness type quests
« on: April 20, 2007, 04:31:17 am »
Alright.. I'm sure plenty of us here know the fantastic world of darkness setting by white wolf.. it's amazing.

I was thinking though, why not lend ideas from there? we're in the darkages and the super natural is ever present... a few examples:

Haunted House: You basiclly have some mansion of sorts in a well known city (Hempstead or so) thats haunted, no combat involved - you have a ghost leaving clues and other scary messages in an attempt to solve the mystery behind its death and finally release it from its torment.

Vampire Monarch: The peaceful village of X has long been disturbed by disturbing murders in the dark, people vanishing everywhere and bodies found drained of blood - the work of corathite cultists? or perhaps the lord of X is more than he seems....

Necromancers: Disturbing rumors of undead roaming the streets of BlablaFarken Shire spread across the land - a mysterious figure seen dragging corpses into the nearby crypts only to have them emerge as undead days later or some other lame necromantical thing.

Theres so many ideas to wiggle around with and all of them center around a dark, atmospheric theme... pure delight!

Roleplaying / Alignment/Dogma conflicts
« on: April 20, 2007, 02:06:04 am »

Tana na na! yet another question bordering the lines of religious insanity, fanatical dogmas and silly alignments that only gods can provide! Brought to you by yours truly. So, as you all might have noticed I'm asking lots of questions regarding faith, cleric and all that mumbo jumbo because it is a very confusing subject, and by very I mean very very.

My question this time sprouts from defined alignment restrictions to what the moral code and religious law a dogma has... an example based on my own experience (which let to this question:

During the "Elemental Mystery" quest my character was brought up with a situation that led me (Me being the player, not the character) to a dilemma which is the following; Imagine yourself an old person that nearly lost everything in his life... his only daughter nearly killed by a raging demon led him to saving her by the only way he knew - plantamancy! (I made that up..) using plants, herbs and other various stuff he was able to save her from dying, effectively transforming her body into half plant.

Now comes the problem... I am chaotic good, as such I should let it go as he only wants to keep what little he had thus sparing him deep sorrow... but my dogma states " Any extension, transformation, alteration and corruption of the natural form and shapes of being is an affront against the sanctity and purity of life"

So I act according to that, but his stubbornness and refusal to accept a grimmer faith WOULD (it did not, not yet at least) lead me to having to end her excitants myself, possibly - "Violence is the last option; use it only on those who defy these teachings"

Now comes the dilemma I experience (as a player trying to play his alignment and follow his dogma) - What would I do? End them myself? Try to reason with him until he got fed up with it? Clearly he has a reason, he's trying to avoid sorrow and I'd assume watching your daughter die involves a lot of it. If I do choose one way or another I'm still condemning him to sadness - which is evil, very evil.

Another example in this field of dogma-alignment conflict is with Rofireinites... You have a good person that upholds the law. Said person encounters a thief who just stole a loaf of bread from a bakery nearby and confronts him only to discover said person stole to feed his starving family - what is he to do?

The trickiness is on the personal level here as what others have to say about how you deal with things has little relevance beyond IC relations between said characters, but on the personal level of things people take into consideration things like evil/good alignment shifts and other various roleplay factors... Which is confusing and eventually leads to fall from grace and other religious affairs.

So... any thoughts?

Roleplaying / The Gods Fashion Police
« on: April 14, 2007, 11:57:38 am »
The time has come yet again to ask a question of faith and the norm, brought to you by yours truly.

(NOTE NOTE NOTE: I will be using Aeridin as an example here but this applies to ANY god)

 So, here we go.
I had a discussion with Weeblie regarding some of the favored stuff of our beloved god and well.. According to him it's disallowed to wear any other color than the color mentioned on the deity page.
Doesn't that sound a bit absurd? What, Aeridin would deny his powers from my cleric for not following his dressing code? What is he, the fashion police? (Note - this is valid for ANY god)

Let's have a look at the favored stuff:

Quote
In general, clerics of Aeridin prefer to wear white robes. They'll only don armor when absolutely necessary, and even then with great hesitation. However, if they do, they'll wear full plate, either coated with a layer of silver or - more rarely - made from mithril. Their armor is usually embossed with golden leaves.

Am I the only one that sees the flexibility with this? Why couldn't my cleric wear what he sees fit as long as he keeps it within the lines of the dogma? (Like, not wearing a robe with the symbol of Shadon and keeping his Golden Leaf amulet viable and nice)

So now I'm asking here, in the roleplay forum rather in the Aeridin forum because this applies to ALL faiths... Are clerics -FORCED- to wear the color the deity sees fit or risk losing the powers he grants them?

to sum it up... my question is; are we forced to wear the favored color?

Fixed Bugs / Moss Covered Mummies
« on: April 12, 2007, 04:31:24 am »
The Moss Covered Mummies in the Moss Crypts cast cure spells on themselves. Being undead these spells deal damage to them and often they end up killing eachother.

They also cast hammer of the gods, though that's less of an issue if at all.

Trade and Market Hall / Auction: Frindahl's Battle Cleaver
« on: April 11, 2007, 11:23:31 am »
*posted in neat flowing scripture in various trading posts*

I've recently acquired an axe of great power and little use to one such as myself, it's magic ranks among the more potent acid enchantments and empowered strength. The material itself appears to be Adamanatium although I may be wrong.

It is of no use to me, and as much as I dislike the marketing of weapons and such the trues could be put to better use than the axe itself.

Bidding begins at forty thousand trues and end within four days time.

 ~Sol'thas Dwin'sean

((Frindahl's Battle Cleaver - Battle Axe with 1d6 acid damage, 1d4 bludgeoning damage and +2 enchantment bonus... bidding starts at 40k and end in Saturday 4pm GMT... if there will be biddings at all!))

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Minor Undead for every crypt?
« on: April 10, 2007, 01:19:40 am »
Alright... it hardly makes sense to me that each crypt has different types of undead when it's still basiclly a crypt, and by different types I mean variaty in power rather than the actual monster (Like.. Risen Remains being five times as strong as a Skeleton)

Wouldn't it be nice for each crypt that has stronger spawns to include some minor undeadish creatures as well?.. I wouldn't mind seeing swarms of zombies and skeletons along the Bodaks in Storans Crypt, don't think he would mind much either.

 Why?

 1) Fun factor - let's face it, House of the Dead was fun.
 2) Necromantical Outburst (what?) - Wouldn't it make sense to you that when say... Storan... raises a bunch of undead that a few minor ones would be created as a side-effect?
 3) CNR... Skeleton Knuckles are yummy and you can't collect them off other skeleton types than...well... skeletons.

Fixed Bugs / Items and FR references.

Description: Ok, so - two items so far I've seen make refences to FR in their descriptions but I trust many more do as well (Since they're stripped of the toolset)... now, this might not be an actual bug, nor something you guys actually care about but I thought i'd report it anyway...

Gloves of Spellcraft and Lesser Gauntlets of Ogre Power make various references (examples: Red Wizards of Thay, Mulhorand etc etc)

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Enchanting Holy Pool
« on: April 04, 2007, 07:01:58 pm »
Alrighty then - heres a suggestion for the Enchanting Holy Pool.

Perhaps a bigger variaty of holy-like potions could be added? such as Aid, Lesser Restoration or even go as far as a Monstrous Regeneration potion (not a high level one... so it wouldn't be THAT effective)

Now sure one can say alchemists can do that and if one really wanted those potions he should become an alchemist, but these are divine blessings - not a mixture of a few herbs and some gem dust, and alchemists have other potions that are useful.

Another suggestion (which applies to Alchemy as well) - could "exceptional" healing potions be added? just potions that heal a bit more :p

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Haven Mines...
« on: April 02, 2007, 04:41:02 pm »
Alright this isn't a question about balance or how hard the place is, rather... the monsters.

I've always wondered, considering it's a haunted mine and stuff - why is it always inhabited by living things? wouldn't it make more sense if the mine was haunted by the restless spirits of the miners?

 *cough*

Spirits holding pick axes, chisels... Could be fun.

Roleplaying / Clerics and Raise Dead
« on: March 30, 2007, 05:28:15 pm »
Alright then! how should clerics play out the raise undead spell?

I've seen plenty pray a lot, make a big fancy deal out of it and then after it's cast just move along as if it was a normal spell...  and I've seen some play great physical weakness after such a deed and infact procceed to being uncapable of furter hunting or at least not casting any spells for a while, this is regardless of a soulstone.

So, what's the general idea on this spell?

Fixed Bugs / Aeridin Summons - PENDING REVIEW
« on: March 28, 2007, 12:35:33 pm »
Okay then... I'm not sure about other summons but ill post this from my personal experince.

I've been playing my cleric for about a week now and always looked forward to new summons every new spell level... but sadly every summon (well, two so far) after level 2 we're pretty much weak and useless (compared to level 1/2 summons)

They only have a few more hp points and a bunch of immunities but... the immunities do no good for summons of such a low level as nothing actually hits with what those immunities are for.
Why is the level 2 summon better? it has damage reduction, and a pretty good one actually.. it also hits for more damage.
And the level 1? it spams spells, and lots... it also has regeneration.

Heck one could debate the level 3 summon to be good because of the aura, and I agree to a degree (rhyme!) but the level 4 summon is a complete joke... its a basher (dex based) with rather low AC and no special abilities.
It has immunities which is alright but... when you have damage reduction criticals and sneakattacks barely bother you (and who encounters much of those at level 7 anyway?)...

and to top that all an extended summon that is also stronger is far better than a weaker one :P

I think they should be beefed up a bit.

 Fin.

CNR Suggestions/Discussion / Simple Bandages
« on: March 23, 2007, 09:51:26 pm »
How about we add some normal bandages to the crafting list (not +1/3) ?
make them require some aloe and cotton and voila! you have a simple bandage with no +'s to make it complex to make... (essence of healing kills!)

Fixed Bugs / Casting balls
« on: March 21, 2007, 03:07:10 pm »
For some odd reason when I wear my armor the casting ball (the visual effect of the casting proccess) appears on my chest instead of in the hands...
When I'm naked this does not occur.

heres an example:
