Dunno if anyone remembers, but I figured I'd check in and say hi, after being gone for so long. Life has been moving along, I finally got my first Fulltime job, I'll be starting it soon. It's exciting, I'll be working as a QA Software Dev. I'm also moving into an apartment finally, among other things. :D Unfortuatly, I won't be coming back to layo, but I do miss you guys! I wish you all the best! Link092

It seems that with every passing day, I am no closer to my destination then when I have started. But it doesn't bother me much. It rain's a lot in the quiet gathering known as Center. It's almost serene, despite recent happenings in the world. I know that I mustn't linger here too long, but I am almost inclined to stay. Or at least find a road that will meander it's way back here. It would be a nice place to stay, perhaps, when I am in my declining years.

For now, I think I shall find work between the times of my travel, hunker down and stay for a while as I pass each village, town, or city. It would definitely make for some nice worldly experience. I'll figure it all at as I let my feet guide me to my destination.

Dear Mother and Father,

It's been to long since I was separated from Marv. At this point.... I'm sure he's dead. And from what I can tell, I'm the only one left of our little band of mercs. I've done plenty of work on my own, seeing as I needed to do something to make a living, but it's not the same without the rest. And I'm finding myself depending on strangers for bigger jobs that I can't do on my own. It's definitely an adjustment, but I guess I could get used to it. I haven't been stabbed in the back... yet.

For months I have wondered the roads from Llast to Vehl, searching for Marv and some of the others. I don't think any got out alive beyond Marv and I, but it didn't hurt to think otherwise. Over the course of that time, I've found Center to be the hub of most noteworthy activity. It always feels odd coming back time after time, but I guess it is going to become my home away from home.

Needless to say, I've meet plenty of interesting individuals; musicians (one named Cord in particular), other mercenaries, and a few... uhm... Really tiny people (One floats around Prunilla's shrine, the other I always see meditating near the campsite). Beyond that, I don't really know anyone. I guess I should give it some time to establish myself in the area before I make more acquaintances and rebuild my contacts.

Love,
Andrea

Roleplaying / A small chat....
« on: August 04, 2012, 09:15:02 pm »
A little chat in Center about music, harmony, chaos and law can be heard by the old tree that lies across from the Bull's Eye inn. Perhaps others might overhear and join as well?

And supposedly a small child went down there full of bluster about removing an infestation! Can he handle the horde of rats below?

Bad Luck Link:

logs on, everyone else logs off.

Explores new wonderful map additions, get's mauled by wild life.

Makes new friend, proceeds to hopelessly watch him get pummeled by mercenaries from the woods.

Goes to old area he remembers was safe to sneak around in. Wait, banshees aren't supposed to be here.

General Discussion / Hola! :3

I'm thinking about getting back into layo. I took a pause because of college, and while I'm still at it (Words cannot express my hatred of operational amplifiers), I've made some time for myself... and I got tired of FUS'ing chickens to death. So time to get that lovely NWN reinstalled. :U

So as always, imma be a pest and ask if someone knows what the current files I need for layo to run are. I can look them up myself, I just would like to know the version number so I can do my search. It'd be a bonus if someone would post a thread that might cover some rather world shaking events... so I can catch up. :3

Also, how is everyone doing? :D

Just moved into a dorm at 4-year university. the internet is surprisingly fast... emphasis on surprisingly.

Schedule is pretty easy but the classes syllabus makes things rather hectic.

I read through some of the posts but've missed too much to catch up in small short readings. anyone willing to sum it up for me? :D

if not, I understand. I'm sure a rather decent chunk of time has passed, etc etc. sorry i missed the rest of your WLDQ geloooo. :D your timezone is just too silly. :3

*battered and bruised (not really), Link092 clambers back onto the hull of the Layo forums, gasping for air...*

I've been drowning in "work" so to speak... I'm trying to get more free time D:< always work to do though. Apologies if I've disappointed Ed, and all the other writing team members. With that large group of family that came it, it was pretty much my responsibility to watch the little chilluns 24/7, as well as work on the firepit before that... x_x Just ordered pallet of stones, and they ...are... heavy...

*His grip slips, and the sea of work drags him back under*

Bleaghoeajflgfjdkgshl!

*scrambles aboard, gasping for more air*

BUT! family is gone now... and can't work on firepit now until I can get another person to help. D:< *grumbles*

my posts not read was over 9000, btw...  ._.  *drowns in sea of unread posts now*

General Discussion / Songs for the Tavern dweller

//posted here because the Caring Hope Inn lacks a forum.

*At the Caring Hope Inn, A young, spry man just into his twenties and a miniature sized man barely taller then the pints sold to the locals at the bar sway too and fro, singing off key and with no seeming order, and sometimes alternating lines with a few of the other patrons*

"One could say I'm a worldly man!"

"I've traveled further then any can!"

"Be it by foot on land or ship by sea!"

"I'm simply the best there can be!" *the young man winks*

*some random noises made up to some unheard tune*

"I'm the weary traveler, My feet are oh-so sore!"

"But by the time I'm rested, I'm a-lookin' fer more!" *The tiny brownie's voice pipes in*

"Perhaps ya don't quiet understand, ya think I've lost me mind!"

"But on the road there's oh-so much, and many things to find!"

*the two break into a chorus that could use a -LOT- more polishing and practice, and the wee little man begins some odd jig, jumping around a pint glass, slapping his knee*

// Tavern time! :D Friday 4th, ~9:00 pm EST until further notice at the Caring Hope Inn. Bring a friend and sharpen your mind for some tavern songs! :D

Just for Fun / A little get together
« on: June 02, 2010, 11:45:57 pm »
I saw this thread here:

http://forums.layonara.com/general-discussion/250022-what-do-you-want-layonara.html

and one of dorg's statement's in there was "Ask not what layonara can do for you, but what can you do for Layonara!" *coughs* erm, more or less... I took the liberty of para-wording that. (that's Paraphrase + rewording, mind you! :D )

Now, I think I'll try and get something interesting going, something a little Player driven. Sure, if a DM stuck their nose it, it would be interesting/fantastic. as far as what I could contribute in game other then some RP, not much, I don't have the richest characters in Layo, they probably couldn't afford to throw a birthday party for a small group of two, unless all they did was cook some stew and had some roasted deer birthday cake from from the dappelgreen forest.

[/OFFTOPIC]

Sooo, This will be something a little more convenient, nothing fancy, rather simple, and quiet frankly, it will be only as fun as those who attend can make it.

Here's the Idea:

Every week, or even every other week, we need a time convenient for those most interested (and if we have lotsa AESTers and ESTers that wanna do it, run two seperate sessions!) and pick a tavern somewhere in Layonara. It could be the stormcrest shack, the one eyed harpy, the wild surge inn, leringard arms, The caring arms inn, Or any of those other crazy taverns that I've never had a chance to see! (actually, I'd love to go somewhere other then mistone and see some more, heh. >.>)

Simple gather, sit around, and chat... Use your imagination! swap stories with folk you never have spoke before! Have some toast with that boast!

"Well, one day, I had to face off with a dragon!" *another tavern goer glances over and rolls his eyes* "Yeah, I'm sure, it musta been me mother!" *a loud ruckus of laughter follows*

Heck, I'd love to see a bar fight between a dwarf and a halfling that started over who had the better beard! It doesn't nee dot be PvP, it just needs to be a few rolls of the 1d20 before the other's break it up. (just use a little common sense, and make sure it's planned out with the other player!)

and best yet, there is no set "were finished time"... if some one starts, tehn leaves, and another 4 more continues, who are joined by a few more who carry it on after they have to log, it can pretty much go on until no one is logged onto the server! And it doesn't have to be all "goody goody" per se, I mean, it's a tavern, there are bound to be some unsavory folk there. It's the convoulted mix of personalities that make the RP interesting

I'll be in at the caring arms in as one of my PC's in Fort Wayfare sometime this weekend, I'll make a post in one of the IG forums, and post a link back here afterwards.

So, any thoughts, ideas, concerns? And by all means, start your own posts and post a link to it on this thread. Only thing I ask is it not be a bashy run anywhere, and don't come expecting any or much xp, this is not somehting beign run by a DM. It's being run by "Us". Make it someplace interesting, heck, if you get enough naturey folk, get a hike going, and -IF- needed, fight off some things that wonder onto the beaten path, and check out the interesting regions. Stone would be a great place too IMO. I've seen it a few times, and I think the place looks amazing compared to some other areas. you could have a fishing trip there! (though, it might seem odd to specifically go there for fishing... >.>)

SO! Shall we? :D

Anyone here that is familiar with C++? I'd like to bug you periodically if you don't mind. I'm taking a class that is using C++ visual express and a Dark GDK.msi file for teaching. I'm hoping for a secondary source of help that may not be as busy as the professors. :D

would it be allowed for a player to purchase a house in Vehl? I've seen places in hempstead, but those all seem to be guilds, not housing per sé. Soooo, is that the same situation with Vehl? w

General Discussion / JIT Debugger = Bane of my existance
« on: November 13, 2009, 01:49:26 pm »
Well, I happened to register for a Visual Basic Class at the college... and it so happens that via agreements with Microsoft, we get licensed software to use. It also seems that once you install Microsoft software, it leaves bits of itself behind, such as the JIT debugger. so really, there is no such thing as "uninstall", only "make it so you can't interact with it and disable any interfaces". Thus my problem arose. JIT makes my computer's life (and mine) a living hell, as it will close and freeze random applications, NWN being one of them. What gets me is that no matter how much I search for a solution, I only find others with the same or similar problems with JIT... no friggin solution. (except one, but it's not really a solution, it just changes the error message to "You don't have JIT enabled as your active debugger, yiou can fix this at blah blah bleh blah.")

I've tried many things... none work, so I have come to you... Any ideas? *hopeful*

General Discussion / Just a minor note

Quote from: SteveMaurer
The elfin girl hardly hears him, clearly self-involved with some thought that brings an angry expression to her pretty face.   "I cannot believe," she mutters loudly enough for the guards to hear, "that my design was not considered the best."   She steps coldly over the bodies on the docks without even noticing them.  "But...   to lose to a cheater?     Aggh."

Petulantly, she kick one of the corpses in the leg, and stomps off back in the direction of the academy.

Yeah, while In-character, I do not like what is implied behind this statement, as it is uncalled for, and the issue has already been addressed. If you are unaware of what was decided, then my bad, but such childish antics have no place here.

I do not want this to be some he said she said bullcarp, so respond if you want, but please do so civilly.

Thank you,
