Trade and Market Hall / Seeking Mithril Bastard Sword
« on: February 06, 2020, 07:06:41 pm »
*Deverian tacks up notes around a few crafting halls and trading posts*

I'm looking for a craftsperson to fashion me a hand and a half sword made of Mithril. I've no idea how much a blade of that quality sells for, I've got about 80,000 gold saved up and would be happy to gather more if needed for the blade.

Thanks,
Dev

Looking for easy gold? Help a crafter develop his skills by gathering resources in exchange for gold. The terms are simple. Bring in a full crate, 36 items, of a resource, and you get the gold that's been left in the chest. Chests are located at 142 Krandor, right next door to the smithy. Then leave a note here saying you completed collecting that resource, so others don't accidentally gather the same ingredient.Need space to store your resources while you gather the rest? Feel free to store part of an order in the crates while you gather the rest, just please have the order filled within 5 days of the first resource being put in the crate. And once you put the first of a resource in the crate, leave a note here saying you're in the progress of filling that order. It's your gold once you fill the crate, nobody else can sneak in and fill the order while you're halfway done!Lists of what resources are being sought after will be posted as I have time. Before gathering, be sure to check the most recent post from me to see what is being bought, and make sure nobody has filled the order since that post!Happy gathering, all!~Garadel Kamek

General Discussion / Spellswords?
« on: September 12, 2017, 08:43:56 am »
Hey everyone,Just a few questions about the mechanics of a spellsword, if anybody knows. They look like an interesting class, but some of their abilities are confusing to me...When it says they gain a caster level for every other level of spellsword, it states that they gain benefits of increased spell duration, as well as "improved spellcasting". This might be self-explanatory, but does improved spellcasting mean they can gain circles of spells (I.E. a level 5 wizard / 10 spellsword would be able to cast 4th circle spells?)Thanks,Teo

*A thick tome, bound in leather and with an ankh branded onto the front cover. The first page of the book reads "Accounts and Prayers of Michael Dawnbreaker", followed by a collection of tales of his travels, and written prayers to the Great Leader. The book is old and worn, having seen much travel since the young priest set off from the Fort Llast temple*

General Discussion / Choppy Gameplay in Multiplayer?
« on: September 06, 2017, 12:32:20 am »
Hey All!I posted about this months and months ago, but unfortunately went on hiatus before I was able to resolve the issue. Anyways... I've done my best to solve the issue, went through all the advice on the old post: http://layonara.com/threads/10164653-technical-difficultiesHowever, I've been unable to resolve the issue. I have tried the following- Checking and updating Drivers- Running compatability troubleshooting, trying different compatabilty settings.--- Running compatability troubleshooting seemed to solve the issue for a brief second, my character took just a few steps with no lag whatsoever, before immediately returning to the lagging mode. - Testing how the game runs in GM mode (It is just as choppy). The other idea I've seen suggested, both by Acacea and by a few other groups of people online, was to delete a recent windows update. Several KB codes were given including KB4013429 and Kb4015438. However, I don't see either of these updates, or any other I've seen mentioned, in my recent updates. Therefor, unsure how to pursue this solution as the particular updates don't seem evident. It's also worth noting I just performed the latest update of Windows 10 today, in a hope that it might fix the solution. It did not, but my device is as up to date on Windows as it can get. In addition, it's worth noting that this lag / choppiness (whatever you want to call it) only appears in online play. I've played through one of the single-player modules for fun in the last few days and the gameplay was flawless except for the following:- Character Level-Up screens were lagging in the same way that the entirity of multiplayer is lagging. Not sure if that is indicitive of anything... So the lag hits only in level-up screens of single player, and all of multiplayer. If anyone has any more suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. I'm not sure how to get the exact stats for my laptop (serial numbers and what not). But I'd like to get back to playing as soon as this can be dealt with! Thanks,Teo

General Discussion / Technical Difficulties?
« on: April 04, 2017, 12:24:45 pm »
Hey there everyone! As has probably been noticed, I took a bit of a haitus from the game to deal with school and such. However, I am returning and planning to run a quest on Wednesday the 12th!Unfortunately, upon attempting to log back into the game I encountered a bit of an issue. NWN runs really smoothly all through the menus, but upon entering Layo I get hit with the most horrific lag of all time. Its about one frame per 5 seconds, although audio still plays fine. Upon logging out of Layo, the menus of NWN are suddenly faced with the same lag-like effect, until I completely close the program and reopen it.It is worth noting that I've tried the single-player modules to test if those are any better. They do run smoothly while I am in the game, but upon exiting the game the menus still become very laggy. Thanks for any help anyone can offer!~ Teo

Character Submissions / Tharivian Goldpetal ~ Alignment Shift
« on: August 08, 2016, 01:38:09 am »
I'm going to preface this with the fact that I'm aware this is a bit of an extreme request, since a dark elf shifting to a good alignment is pretty rare. If more character development thread entries, or a CDQ, or anything of that nature is needed, I'm more than happy to do it and revisit this request at a later date. With that said, Link to Origional SubmissionLink to Character Development ThreadRequested Alignment Shift: True Neutral to Neutral GoodJustification: Tharivian never really fit in with the ideals of dark elven society, but also never had other influences from different societies. Once on the surface, he has found a different sort of civilization. Delia and Rebecca Poetr have both been highly influential to him, seemingly trusting him and becoming what he would call friends, something Tharivian has never really had before this point. Tharivian ultimately has a desire to not have to hide from his herritage, and that constant need to hide and be an outcast has been what has kept him from being 'good'. But now that he's found a bit of acceptance in the world of adventurers, he is growing more trusting towards those who trust him in return, and in that, protective of his friends. Finding this acceptance means that Tharivian is free to break out of the confines of the dark elven society he escaped from, and therefor I'm requesting an alignment shift from True Neutral to Neutral Good to reflect this. Thanks,
Teo

Development Journals and Discussion / Behind the Mask
« on: July 14, 2016, 04:45:31 pm »

The mask is a sancutary and a curse; an item of comfort and yet also an item of misery. Of course, the true curse is my herritage. Of course, without it I would not be who I am. Without my father's blood on my hands, would I have been driven to be a warrior, to be an adventurer? If I had been born on the surface, I could have just as easliy become a fat, lazy merchant with no motivation to do anything more than buy and sell meaningless goods.

It's my dark elven herritage that has made me who I am today, but at what cost? The cost of the trust of those who I could be close to? Becca Poetr... A decent fighter and someone I could call a friend if it wasn't for the fact that she has yet to see my face, has yet to learn my secret. I haven't a clue how she may react if she were to learn. Perhaps I've fought beside her enough to earn her trust, perhaps she would accept me. But I cannot help but prepare for the hatred that is the standard here on the surface.

It is a strange feeling, trust. I've traveled with many people on the surface, and all seem to trust me. All have seen a mysterious masked elf with a sword, and have chosen to fight by my side rather than investigate. Out of courtesy? To preserve the mystery? I may never know. But it has been beneficial to me. My disguise has remained undiscovered, save by one.

Delia... She discovered my herritage. I believe through healing me after I was badly wounded by a goblin. She did not seem to care however, it has not stopped her from her nonstop flirting with me. Perhaps she is that way towards everyone. At least she accepts me for what I am. I only hope that others may do the same, because in truth, it is lonely behind the mask. It's lonely, and it starts to smell sometimes.

Layonara Server / Housing Cleanup?
« on: July 12, 2016, 03:31:50 am »
Hey there! Not sure if this is feasable, but I do remember that in past years there was an occasional sort of clean up of all the inactive houses on the server, to make room for active players looking for houses. As far as I can tell (and I may be mistaken) one of these sweeps has not been done in a while, and to my knowledge, there isn't a single house avalible in all of Mistone. I did a run through and found none from the Hlint, Leringard, or Krandor real estate offices, although those are the only ones I could think of off of the top of my head.I know that getting together a list of inactive houses is probably a big job for the team and so I would be willing to help out in compiling a list of all houses whos owners haven't logged in in 12 months (that seemed to be the standard from the last sweeps, from what I found on the forums), but I think it would be nice to get some houses cleared up, if possible. Thanks,
Teo

Development Journals and Discussion / Garadel Kamek - Knight of Ilsare
« on: September 13, 2017, 05:00:40 pm »
*Garadel opens his journal to a blank page. Scrolls trapped between the pages try to come loose as he does so; the lessons on organization from Palmiah have been all but forgotten in his first two days out of the caravan*Its been a long two days... Real fighting is much less forgiving than sparing. One mistake and your enemy smacks you over the head. Hard. Thank the heavens for helmets I suppose. My magic is progressing well, probably better than my swordfighting. The magical wards I have learned are remarkable. Blades miss me or pass through me without harm thanks to spells that turn me into a ghost-like figure, and magical shields help stop physical and magical projectiles. However, I need new equipment. Sharpening my old practice sword hasn't made it much more of a weapon, and my armor is already in poor condition from the blows I've taken. Not to mention some of the magical rings and such I've seen in the pawn shops... But all in good time I suppose. *Garadel snaps closed his journal and tosses it into his pack, leaning back against a rock that looks over the Ilsarian Temple. He had been drawn to Hlint due to the temple and was currently helping deal with the Goblins plaguing the city. But even heroes take breaks, he thought, closing his eyes*

Development Journals and Discussion / Kelvaron's Assassin Training
« on: April 04, 2015, 10:06:12 pm »
Kelvaron sat down in his inn room. Thompson had promised the finest accomidations, and he had not lied. His job that day had been a success, although perhaps not the most glorious. Executing a halfling in a muddy stable is not the most exciting job, but it lead to future contracts... the dwarf, Kaerngully, has increased his opperation, or so it would seem. He has assembled an entire team... and this time, his job was a bit more exciting. No petty book forging... A real job. Taking out a halfling who had disappeared with a parcel of diamond dust. Of course, Kel had caught him at... one of his less fine moments. But the job was done just as asked, and payment was recieved. Now, Kel was anticipating the teachins of Mikhail, the dwarven assassin he would be working with.

Ask A Gamemaster / Shadow dancer Ability Question
« on: February 16, 2015, 03:18:04 pm »
I play a dark elf shadowdancer, who prefers to keep his identity hidden. I thought it would be neat that, instead of wearing a mask like most other dark elves, he used his shadow dancing abilities to create darkness under his hood so that no one could see what he was. However, on the shadowdancer page, it says that...
a Shadowdancer cannot manipulate shadows of objects or people in any way except by what can be done by manipulating light and shadow through normal means. For example, they cannot make a person's shadow move, though they could produce a “shadow play” by casting shadows of their own from some source of light.
This made me think that perhaps this idea would not work, because in order to cast shadows of their own they must cast them from some other source of light. However, as a darkelf, he also has darkness as a spell-like ability. Could dark elven darkness coupled with shadowdancer abilities justify shadowy concealment of his race?

Development Journals and Discussion / Eril'lin F'ea
« on: January 22, 2015, 12:05:12 am »
Eril'lin sat at the fire in Center, thinking. Recent events had warrented a great deal of thought about his magic. Thus far, he had developed all of his spells through trial and error, in the style of a true sorcerer. He had little to no outside influences on his casting styles, so his magic was very simple. Protect party members, throw fire at the enemies. It was all that his past experiences had warrented. But now, he had found a situation that warrented further, more sophisticated magic. Scrying, divination, that sort. Lola had gotten an eye put into her empty socket, that turned out to be tied to some sort of skeletal figure that was watching her. Through scrying. Eril'lin thought of himself as someone that Lola, another sorcerer, should be able to learn from. But now he found himself in an area that he had no knowledge in. He had seen the halfling Acacea perform a scrying ritual once, and that was unsuccessful. Aside from that, all he knew was that you needed some sort of reflective object to look through. Perhaps this would be an experience that he could learn from. Lola's eye was a puzzling fact. She found it inside of another larger eye that was independently moving, clearly of magical creation. Lola said she had detected both divination and necromancy on the eye, and after removing the necromancy, she put the eye into her empty eye socket in order to try to reverse the scrying. It had worked for a moment, and she saw a skeleton looking into a crystal ball. Eril'lin thought that the easiest solution would be to take the eye back out, but Lola had said that it hurt as if trying to take out a real eye. The eye must have planted himself into the socket, and taken the role of a normal eye. Lola wanted Eril'lin to be there when she would have it removed by a medical man. However, Eril'lin thought that it would not work as planned. Whatever the skeleton and his crystal ball were, they would not let this eye be destroyed. It was a fine magical creation, one any mage worth a pinch of salt would attempt to protect. [/i]Eril'lin looked down at his Magic Suplies box, a small blue box with slots for wands and spell components. He had a feeling his, Lola's, and her friend Neema's magic would all be needed. He made sure all the things he anticipated needing were in the box, and he closed it. He had done all he could do to be prepared. Now all he could do was try to keep himself, Lola, and Neema safe from whatever may occure.  [/i]

Seeking a Royal Ball Tuxedo, enchanted to increase the wearer's appearance. If you have such an item, send word to Eril'lin F'ea and the Bull's Eye Inn, with a price you would be willing to part with them for.  //OOC Note - Item is really called Royal Ball Gown, but I figured it would be more appropriate for a male elf to be seeking a tuxedo rather than a gown!

Rumour Has It / A Disturbance in the Aragenite Temple
« on: July 17, 2014, 12:20:27 am »
Deverian traveles to Bydell Castle and enters the Aragenite Temple. After knocking over a pile of scrolls, turning to pick them up, and pushing over a book case, he tries to reorganise things somewhat before finding a scholar who he then asks "Do you know anything about the existance of a vampire in the broken halls?"
