General Discussion / Re: For your considerations!
« on: December 01, 2010, 02:39:44 pm »
I will ofcourse Pm those various servers Minerva just give me a chance to do a collation of them.

The main point i am trying to get across is that Layonara is a well crafted server definately the best ive played on, and i feel that it doesnt seem to be getting the recognition it deserves, i have just been pondering why that is...

All that seems to come to mind is that you see many players come and go but the ones that stay seem to be attached to this server in a rather hardcore way, i cant shake that feeling that the overall difficulty in moving up even in the lesser levels 1-15 seems like a huge effort to those casual and those who dont bring along friends to actively level and adventure with.

Makes me wonder if you could lure these players in and retain them by giving them a taste and then continuing business as usual with leveling, so they can atleast feel a little bit powerful for there efforts, and still have that heavy quest/rp focus towards the higher leveling curb.

I hope i am making sense, i am just trying to think back to the feelings i felt when i first started here, and even then i had a lot of help leveling, along with some very close friends that are long gone.

The server has certainly gone leaps and bounds since then i will say, i am just trying to think longterm think towards attracting interest for all things layonara, because more players means more rp, more potential interest for future layonara projects, fresh rp blood, and more exploration of those areas most of us bar a few have not seen.

If players act up the gm's have the policies of the server to fall back on, and obviously keep the character application submissions the way they are to ward off those with no interest in rp whatsoever.

I guess i am just thinking because i hate seeing the server empty at times... i often find myself playing at peak time in Australia alone, or with one or two of us hardcore aussie folk, this server deserves better then that, im just wondering what others think.. the team here does an excellent job, im just doing my part in trying to think of ways to draw more people in to enjoy the experience that is layonara, hope i make sense anyway.

//Did i win?

The training continues, i am getting more skilled working with arrows, i am able to craft iron tipped oak arrows, they allow me to focus more of arcane abilities into the arrows without shattering them.
In time im sure i will outgrow even that kind of wood and have to start looking for sources of mahogany.

However i understand what Rain has been teaching me its not about the bow or even the arrow, sure they can help in a small part to help substitute some ability, the real power comes from ones will to make it stronger...
The more i concentrate the stronger the force i exert from the bow...

The key principles i grasp:
1. Concentration, let the your will flow from your fingertips and allow it to form around not just the bow but the arrow as well bend them to your will.
2. Solidify this power, & release with maximum force.
3. Hope you dont run out of arrows because all this concentration really takes it out of you.

The most elusive part i find is what it means to be an arcane archer, sure i have the ability, but an arcane archer is a leader, a strategist, a heroe, am i heroe? Am i the wrong kind of heroe?
I do what must be done, but i really do disdain working with people who are inferior to myself.
Im sure thats probably what i need to focus more on, and i shall.... Not many people even want to be around one such as myself.....

Its strange, ni introduced me to another cloaked person, this person really seemed to give off some odd signs, my guess is she is a darkelf cleric of sorts and well those can only mean trouble for an surface elf such as myself.
I will have to manipulate till she gives in and shows weakness, before i make my move, i havent decided if it will be her i will take care of or another for the sheer enjoyment of it...
Hmmm Decisions decisions........

I wonder what rain is doing with the Arcane Archer academy plans, i will have to go and find out.

Till the next time i write, practice practice practice.

Really interesting changes in terms of the landscape of layonara, so much more happening!, lots of umm drama occuring, magic has changed dramatically aswell as archery also in the last update.
It scales well into the epic levels, you have a few level 40's now umm...

Way to much in the way of just cool stuff the team keeps adding!

Server seems to be kicking just aswell as it always has :P.

Good to see your progressing well with your writing good on you ;),

*Saira retrieves the book from a chest set bellow a tree in silkwood forest, wipes the dust gathering upon its cover*

It has been much time since i have been able to write upon the pages of this book it seems, so very much has happened, still i will leave some things to my memory rather then write them in a place that others may find...

Needless to say i have been training in my absence & i have almost mastered the basics of arcane archery, i do indeed still have some way to go but Rain is still willing to teach me more.

I just need to focus a little more when im letting the weave gather into my arrows, & well he also made mention of starting an academy for arcane archers, he invited me to assist in its foundation, needless to say im delighted....
Having access to the knowledge that other arcane archers possess would be most interesting, not to mention having the support of such an institution...
Ethier way i will be watching the progress on this very closely in the near future.

Other then that i have had a somewhat interesting chance meeting over a few occasions with a human known as brian.....
He is rather intriguing i must say, he seems to have a very similiar mindset to my own, which is rare, although i do follow a goddess of love most do not approve of my methods and thoughts regarding such....

Anyway.... he has really cornered my attention for the moment pulling me away from my studies with archery, not that i mind really...
I sense something dark within him, and well its nice at times to find someone not so inhibited by societies laws and social standings...

I do not think he will slow me down like Eander did, i even went as far to make a blood bond with him, so if he does betray me & my love i will most definately show him very little mercy........
Till then we shall see how this turns out....

And thank you for all your hard work, i dont know about you but its easter here so obviously you are taking some time away from your families to make our time a little more entertaining :)

17
That would most definately be a pretty cool effect, and maybe the colour of the vfx could be related to the deity you worship kind of like how spells are normally done?
Red for Ilsare, Blue for lucinda etc etc, would just a be cool thing :P.

Note to self need sleep stupid half reading messages @_@.

18
Yeah, im sure we can live without our chests for a little while :), take your time and get the fix right 100%, dont forget to spend time with the families!, we are not so fussed, but appreciate all the hard work you guys do :).

19
We are usually  pleased with all the hard work you guys put in so, kudos for the update cant wait :).

*bump* We all feel the pain of this, sure its easy to get the lower end resources, but comparably, getting anything cobalt and above is a painful experience, so the return particulary on the higher end arrows is very harsh...

Thats just my two cents on the matter, im only starting out as a fletcher, and ive spent hours making barely two 2 stacks worth of arrows, for a + 1 damage.
Sorry to be resurecting a somewhat dead topic, but any change would be appreciated.
Just any help with the whole having to lug so many ingots around for such a minimal return seems to be the worst part of it.
