Brisbane dragging a young half-orc monk and her friend on a plot quest that led to the downfall of Sinthar. Everyone else was 15-25, we were level 7 or 8 perhaps? Somehow we survived and were completely awed by the event.
Also Innocent Investigations, run by Minerva. I will never forget that series and the imagination, bickering, discovery, inventiveness, and achievements that went along with it.

I come home from work to find my son's Halloween costume has arrived. Immediately he puts it on (Thor) and starts stomping around the house waving his plastic hammer in a way that made Thor's mother giggle uncontrollably. This made Thor scowl and flex his padded cloth muscles. Thor, however, must still do his chores and so I instruct him to do so to which he replies,
"Superheroes don't have to do chores."
"Oh, really. What do superheroes do then?"
"Go around helping people. And read comic books!"

From the Knowledge and Motivation files, Fail section (words are my husband's, not mine): ARGH! I am trying to impress on Ethan the importance of brushing his teeth, so I made an analogy: Your mouth is a party. All these bacteria decide they want to have fun in your mouth, so they eat the leftover mac and cheese you had for dinner. What happens after you eat? You poop. So all these bacteria are eating and pooping eating and pooping when they realize that this party would be morefun if there were more of them. So they divide. Where there was one, there are two. Where there was two, there are four. Four become 8, 8 become 16, 16 become 32, 32 become 64 and so on until there are billions of bacteria eating and pooping in your mouth. Know how you make that stop? Brush your teeth. Me: 'Wanna brush your teeth?' Him: 'No! I want mac and cheese!'

Honora owns 227 Haft Lake, which has been fallow. Prior renters/users were one of Minerva's characters, Caighd, and ZupZupandZway. If there is interest in owning this property I can put it on the market or I can offer to rent rooms again as I believe Eor isn't active and Zup's been gone for a few years. If you wish to rent a room in Haft Lake, let me know via PM and if someone really wants to own it we can talk .

By the front door a shield bearing a symbol of an enemy goddess has hung for decades. Every time she walks by she almost stops...her feet drag on the wool carpet...then she continues packing up goods.
But. It is time, and she knows it. The woman who held that shield, that sword, who wore that armor, would not want it to gather dust when it could protect a body on the front lines. She yanks the shield down and wraps it. So many feelings; missing still a friend so long gone, revulsion at the ship on storming ocean painted on the metal. Into a bundle goes the adamantium longsword, the blue-painted platinum full plate. Last, the compound oak longbow. It's been a shrine long enough. It is time.

An aged half-orc woman walks the quarter-mile or so to Jil's doorstep and offers her help in whatever needs to be done for the kids. With her are two grown men, one in the colors of Katia and the other wearing a symbol of Rofirein around his neck. Both men offer up whatever help they can including extra security for the orphans during this troubled time in Prantz.

A point to the community. I've picked up on rumblings that "players can't change things" and "everything is set, we're not making a difference in the world". Not from all, but certainly from some. And while the amount of time a really spectacular update like this one takes might make it feel that way...please, everyone, read the changes again. Read how many changes are from WLDQs, CDQs and other player actions. Center was from the community voice, mine included - and here it is, with an excellent and plausible backstory and wonderful new quests. Things can change, and have changed. You can make a difference. It won't happen overnight, but it WILL happen, if you work with the GMs and other players with an idea. Personally I find the smaller changes just as exciting as the large ones (such as the Red Lights) and I hope some of you will undertake actions to add these little new things that keep Layonara dynamic. I'm going to get my old lady in to take a look around soon - I'll be looking for you all  . And let's all ask the poor GMs and team members who have been chained to their computers to come and play! We miss you!

Could you not argue that Honora, having actually written most of the deity writeups, should be the NWN deity person as opposed to the person hitting find on the documents? What about all the DMs that sent Honora information that she put in the writeups, the content that she only summarized rather than created? What about all the stuff she has to do? *IF* the option existed to field deity questions, I would do it, absolutely. But I only wrote half the gods, and half of those in conjunction with others, so there would still be time passing while I chased down so and so and reviewed the request with them. I'm not sure it would really save response time. Nevertheless I did let Ed know I'd be willing to, if he wished.

Not a quote but a charming moment in time that reminds me of my place as Mother.
I was cooking dinner last night and the baked macaroni came out steaming hot. My son looked at the steam and said "Mommy, what's that?"
What's that? A TEACHING MOMENT, that's what! My inner chemist writhed in joy as I switched to my Lecture (tm) voice and started to speak.
"Honey, that's steam. Remember when we talked about ice, water and steam? That's a gas."
"What's a gas?" (more happy writhing internally)
"A gas is something that expands to fit it's container and does not seek its own level..."
Yes. I really said this to a 5 year old.
"Now look, honey, water is different. (I pull out a glass and open the tap) See how the water fills the container too, but doesn't rise up? It seeks its own level."
He's watching me with a focused expression. I mistake this for interest and wind up for the triumphant finish.
"Remember that ice is solid water, and liquid water will fill a cup. Now you see gaseous water is steam and it will fill the whole room! Do you understand?"
Nod.
"So do you know what gas is now?"
Sincere nod.
"So you tell me, honey, what is gas?"
"It's farts. Mommy, pull my finger!"

(A discussion my husband found himself in the other day)
Husband: "I think I'll have fish for dinner."
Son: "I don't like fish. Fish is yucky."
Husband: "But you just ate fish sticks."
Son: "But I LIKE fish sticks."
Husband: "But you can't like fish sticks, you don't like fish."
Son: "Fish is yucky."
Husband: "Then you don't like fish sticks."
Son: "Yes I do."
Husband: "But you don't like fish!"
Son: "But I like fish sticks."
Husband: "Fish sticks are made of fish."
Son: "No they're not! Fish is yucky!"
...Rinse, repeat, for twenty minutes. I ended up throwing them both out of the den.

I am called back to Erilyn. I'm not sure for how long.
I feel Mother Ocean calling. I don't know if I will return or not.
If I do not then of course the house and all the things in it are yours. But you knew that.
I have loved every minute of our time together in case I never get to say that to you again. You are my gold and the greatest treasure of my life.
If I don't come back please let the children know how proud I am of each one of them. Their mama loves them.
Hope this isn't necessary.

Jon and I spent many evenings chatting on Scype, writing together, talking about my old hometown (Toledo).
He and I wrote the first draft of Dregar together, the skeleton built over a massive hours-long phone call going bit by bit over the new map.
He ran my first CDQ (and my second).
He didn't take well to me joining the MMO team. Heated discussions were had. We didn't speak again after that.
And now, I really do wish I'd say hello at least once in all that time. Jil and I would chat once and a while, and she'd update me on how he was doing. When I got the IM last night it hit me.
My heart goes out to Jil, and to his family.
