General Discussion / RE: Goodbye and thanks for the fun...
« on: September 23, 2006, 05:32:37 pm »

I have been debateing for several days my desision to leave,
I figured I would log in to the forums and look at my final post here,

I believe, my tue problem is a very silly one. I want to solo, however I hate single player modules (Becuase they have a main quest) I want to Non-Linear gameplay of an MMO\\PW server in a single player mod.

I have been inspired by the NWN2 toolset, and expect a Non-linear, roleplay based, single player mod with housing, massive dungeons, radomized quests, and lots of cool features to keep the soloist happy in the not to distant future.

I hope you download it when it arrives,

-Hunter

I dont really care what sex the player is personally.  As far as being able to tell if its a guy playing a girl, a good rule of thumb ive found in this and other games has to do with how the female char is dressed. Actually I was told to look for this by a woman 10 years ago and it seems to be true.  If the char is dressed as a tart its likely a lad behind the keys.

I'm a guy who RPs girls, people here can I'm sure tell you that Vershanon was anything but a "tart" and did not dress like one

Roleplaying / RE: Playing a Barbarian
« on: September 19, 2006, 09:02:46 pm »

hmmmmmmm, I just had an idea: no diety

why?

The Red Light Goblen Caves gave me this idea. The goblens there worship red flickering lights.

Since Barbarians have no divine ability, I figured they might do soemething simular, thus the reason they have no real spells. I know they have shamans, but if you noticed, Humanoid shamans use ARCANE spells. They probibly think they are divine power, but it is just pure magic.  Not to say that she will never someday learn of the Gods, and not to say ALL tribes worship falsely (The icewind dale tribes for instance.) But some tribes, like the red light Gobbies, are completely misguided.

I think I will do the same for this barbarian.

Vershanon saw a guy tanking like 5 Red Light goblens, to her Red Light Goblens are Formittable, so she decided to drop a well placed sleep spell, 5 coup de grace's later she asked if he was okay, he responded yes, we go our seperate ways...

... and say, for example, that the individual you "helped" was going through a rite of passage for the culture in which he grew up?  Or had a sense of pride that was crucial to his sense of self?  You might have invalidated the rite, or wounded his pride, in which case he might be devastated - or vengeful.  Acts of kindness are all well and good, but there's a difference between providing help when it is clearly needed or requested, or providing help on a whim.  The latter is at best uncomfortable, and at worst, a deadly insult.  Vershanon may have had good intentions, but in that case, there's a ta'nari paving company that'd like to contract with her.

In fact, if I was playing a cleric I would take a little time for advertisment, tell him something like:  Healee: Hey thanks for the Help there.  Cleric: Not a problem at all, don't forget to attend the Festival of Wealth over at the temple of Deliar, should be worth your time. Healee: thanks I'll look into it! Cleric: *Bow*

A priest of Deliar might very well 'advertise'. Others might prosteletize, or evangelize, but they're just as likely to give a blessing and be on their way.  Not all gods take the aggressive, evangelical path to grow their follower base.

Regardless, unasked-for, possibly unnecessary magic is likely (or should, at any rate) to earn emnity or distaste from those upon whom (or on whose behalf) it is practiced.  Saving someone from certain death is quite another thing, of course.  But unasked-for help is a 50/50 proposition, with regards to the response of the helped individual.

The person being attacked didn't seem to mind, all I was trying to point out was what I said in my last post ^

Same for the Deliar example (last post ^)

I'm not trying to invalidate anyones RP,

But an antisocial (I am being very specific, antisocial as in TOTALLY antisocial, not shy) person probibly wouldn't care much if he/she saw someone dying, they don't know or care about the person.

A shy person might check it out, but wouldn't be bold enough to walk right up and heal them unless asked.

A social person would care and would not only heal them but probibly say a few things too.

MY POINT IS: Don't be two things at once, if your antisocial great, if your shy great, if your social great, if your antisocial\\shy\\social: not so great.

Myst eh? Sorry haven't read much on the evil side of things...

All I was trying to point out though is if you "were" antisocial, you probibly wouldn't bother healing in the first place.

If someone heals, that is a social act. If someone dosen't talk that is an antisocial act.

So someone who heals but dosen't talk, is well, social and antisocial which I don't think is possible.

((EDIT: sorry I guess mist is CN))

I agree that some character might be anti-social as stated above, but clerics are at the bottom of that list. Cleric's can't afford to be anti-social, unless they are clerics of Sylvanus, but this isn't the realms...

Nope, you're not alone there.  If it makes you feel any better about it, you did a fantastic job rping the other day in your encounter with Daniel, Kyle, Rain, and Ferrit.  *bows to Vershanon*  If she / he ever comes back, introduce yourself to Drawna Eldreal.  *winks*  I'm sure it'll be veeery interesting conversation.

Thanks, I was pretty proud of my RP there as well :D

Roleplaying / RE: you and your character
« on: September 18, 2006, 08:37:53 am »

I was big into Theatre and Acting in High School, and I find it loads of fun to play someone completly unheard of in Earthly life. I tend to develop stories through Brain storming, and alot of go'en with the flow'en.

Take Vershanon, In my bio it says she is working on her right of passage, however recent events concerning Mith and Sa'kura Ingame have changed her direction from seeking to appease her Coven to seeking to join a large Magic Organization. Just like in life, your aims change, and I like this go with the flow method of character development.

a question though...was he excommunicated by a member of the church, or by Deliar?  If his excommunication was by, say a jealous archdeacon, an angry friar, or by his local congregation en masse (or whatever), then he might still have his divine hotline hooked up.  However, if Deliar decided from high to boot him from the church for some reason, then no he would not still have access to his priestly gifts.  It really comes down to how Deliar views you and your actions, not necessarily how the other mortal followers view you.

Then I guess it's up to the DMs :)

okay good to know

Morlan isn't a cleric, he was but got excommunicated, he believes he still holds Deliar's favor

so does power come from Faith? Or does it come directly from the Gods?

as for running around killing people, I don't mean THAT radical, he does have some questionable views however.
