Development Journals and Discussion / Re: Rissa's Writings

The small, red-haired halfling arrives in Spellgard, dismounts her white pony, and walks into the Lucindite temple. She unpacks her bag, and slips into an empty cot.

Over the next few days, she is seen milling around the city quietly.

Rissa settles down at Corax Lake in the cool evening air. She casts her fishing pole into the water, then props it up against a rock.

I've been mostly traveling lately, riding around on my pony seeing the world and such. I think they call this period in a halfling's life "mid-life crisis," but I'm really just trying to figure out what I want. Is the adventuring life really for me? In the end, you either retire completely or the Soul Mother gets you. I'm not sure I  want that to be the story I leave behind. I've been enjoying the more simple things in life... fishing, baking, sewing. Then again, I have this budding magical power. If Lucinda didn't want me to use it to protect and preserve the Al'Noth, then what else would she want me to do with it? Why would it keep growing? I know if I don't use it, then a sneeze may turn into a fireball.

I do enjoy adventuring. The only recent things I've done is travel under Huangjin. What a mistake... I was literally hellball'd to death along with probably 5 others. Death slaads (un-crunchy salads) are some mighty creatures.

Oh, and I went to Lan's Port with a bunch of others to the Shindalerian temple. I heard this long spill about some dragon poison needing a cure, and talking to mer to get the last reagent for it. However, the mer don't like land folk very much.

The pole begins tugging, and she drops her book back in her pouch.

Kaelyn's song. Still haven't found one for Rissa after 3 and a half years.

Amarillo Sky - Jason Aldean

She gets up before the dawn
Packs a lunch and a thermos full of coffee
It's another day in the dusty haze
Those burnin' rays are wearing down her body
And diesel's worth the price of gold
And it's the cheapest grain she's ever sold
But she's still holding on

CHORUS
She just takes the tractor another round
And pulls the plow across the ground
And sends up another prayer
She says, "Prunilla I never complain I never ask why
But please don't let my dream run dry
Underneath, Underneath this
Amarillo sky"

That hail storm back in '83
Sure did take a toll on her family
But he stayed strong and carried on
Just like her mom and grandmom did before her
On her knees every night he prays
Please let my crops and children grow
Cause that's all she's ever known

CHORUS

And she takes the tractor another round
Another round, another round
And she takes the tractor another round
Another round
She says I never complain I never ask why
But please don't let my dreams run dry
Underneath, underneath this
Amarillo Sky

Underneath this
Amarillo sky

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Re: Remove Pixies as Familiars
« on: December 17, 2009, 08:52:15 pm »
Honestly, I only reason I picked a pixie for Larissa's familiar because it's the only pretty familiar there is. And I can't even remember the last time she summoned her. I actually never even realized they could open locks because I -never- use the darn thing.

So please don't take it away and cramp Rissa's style. :) Because we all know one of those mephits or dragon things would be about as big she is.

Let's all just agree not to abuse them, as stated before.

*Larissa pulls a chair over to the message board, climbs on top of it and writes*

Alindor! The river near the castle and the Lake beside Fort Homestead.

And on Mistone, I'd say Lake Palden near Leringard.

If you need a guide, just find the fiery-haired halfling, and I'd be glad to show you around.

Introduce Yourself / Re: Hello

Also, if you're running off Vista (lucky me), then you'll run into a few nuisances along the way of installing nwn. You can look on Neverwinter Nights: Welcome to BioWare's Neverwinter Nights (NWN) Community Site! for a few helpful tips, and make sure you run as administrator when you go to install and play.

Also, I think it'd be worth the purchase if you could find a copy of it. There's a good amount to learn (about nwn mechanics and Layonara) but with time, you'll get it.

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Re: Hlint
« on: December 06, 2009, 06:02:21 pm »
We should make "I <3 Hlint" t-shirts for all those pro-Hlinters out there.

Two cents from the peanut gallery:

A lot of my favorite memories from Layo come from "the benches" in Hlint. Stories from Ozy, the chaos having all the new players around, having everything in one concentrated area, the small-town feel... I miss it all. But let's face it. Hlint just isn't convenient anymore.

Possible solutions:

1. Make Hlint convenient again, i.e. bring in characters to rebuild the craft halls, merchant houses, ect ect. Though this is extremely unlikely and would take much effort from our BFF Dorg.

I'll agree it makes more sense for Hemp/Vehl to be hubs because of their size and location. So what can we do to make them more comfortable and popular?

2. Crunch Port Hempstead together - Redesign the areas, take some out, yadda yadda. Also, taking much effort from the team.

Personally, I like Vehl more.

3. We could all just agree to use it as our new Hlint, and maybe use the pond out front as our "benches" and meeting place or even the docks. Think about it - it's two areas and has most of what Hlint had to offer, including: place to start as a new character, temple, kitchen, merchants, bank, starter quests. Heck, it even has one of those nifty sea ports. :)

Though when all is said and done, we probably will never have another real Hlint unless it is Hlint.

Rumour Has It / Re: In The Wake of the Hempstead Tsunami ...
« on: December 06, 2009, 04:04:52 pm »
As spring creeps around Mistone, a small elf can be seen plowing the lands and planting crops of wheat and corn.  She works tirelessly from dawn to dusk, occasionally accepting help from the stronger survivors of the tsunami. When asked her name, she replies, "Kaelyn, Lucky Clover of Prunilla," with a smile.
