« on: June 14, 2006, 09:28:03 am »
Yes yes yes, it's that time of the year again. Time for "ZeroVega's Second Anual RP Awards!" I have several categories that I'll be using in this year's award cerimonies but I'm open to any that you folks can come up with... I only have so much creativity juice. So PM me what categories you'd like to see and if you have a suggestion for who should win what let me know.

General Discussion / GM Help (If anyone has a moment)
« on: June 13, 2006, 10:03:21 am »
So, I'm down in the Underdark looking for a drow city, which of course I haven't been to in many many months, so I'm totally lost. I cast Greater-Sanctuary (and no, I wasn't invisible at the time, nor was I before I cast it) and start looking around... but lo and behold I crash. So, I come back and run to a safe area. For some reason it won't let me dispell my G-Sanc or cast spells so I shrug and continue. I pass several Duegar and none see me but when I seesomespiders (spiders whose thorax I can whoop), they see me and start to attack. Now, I freak out and try everything I could think of to dispel the G-Sanc, cast spells, use items... nothing's working so I figure I'd log off while I'm still alive and as for help (as I'm level 20 and having a SS cut is a big possibility.)
Would this warrant GM assistance or am I as good as dead. If the former just let me know when you'll be logging on and we'll get this worked out, if the latter, just pray for me. :)

Just for Fun / World Cup
« on: June 11, 2006, 10:01:46 am »
Right so, the World Cup has been going on for THREE days already, and given the sheer magnitude of the event, it blows my mind that no one has made a thread about it! Probably half of our player base is from countries other than the US; and while the US isn't very gung-ho on soccer (football) I seem to recall the rest of the world being nuts about it. So let's recap.
  Germany 4 - Costa Rica 2 England 1 - Paraguay 0 Trinadad and Tobago 0 - Sweeden 0 Argentina 2 - Ivory Coast 1 Netherlands 1 - Serbia-Montenegro 0 Ecuador 2 - Poland 0
Right so I think everyone expected Germany to win their first game, but what a high scoring game it was! Wowzer! (Thank you Doc.) Englad beat Paraguay, again I think it was expected but this one seemed to be a little LOW scoring. T&T tied Sweeden?! Sheesh, first the Cav's almost upset the Pistons and now this? Argentina wins over the Ivory Coast. Again, I think this was expected. Netherlands win over Serbia-Montenegro. I expected this only because I didn't know much about S&M, but to be honest I think the Netherlands sort of "stopped" playing hard after the first half. And last, Ecuador beats Poland. Can I say wow? Who expected this? Anyone? Not me!
So yeah, make your predictions on games! Start a poll! Criticize me analysis! One... two... three... go!

Just for Fun / Frozen Hell and Flying Pigs

You know how people say things like, "When hell freezes over!" or "When pigs fly!" and think they're all clever or something. Yeah... they'll look pretty stupid if you show them this stuff.

Just for Fun / Help with Shirts
« on: May 12, 2006, 05:50:31 am »
Right, so I've considered putting this in community support, but it's not really "serious" enough to put anywhere but here. So here's the back story. My sister (a graduating senior) and I, go to this Youth Group. And every year the Core Members (the adults that run it) have a kickball game against the graduating seniors. It's been a tradition for years and the seniors have lost every year.
Well the seniors had a meeting and decided that it was team unity that was keeping them from winning. So my sister took it upon herself to make shirts. Now, I could care less, but it seems to mean something to her, so I've offered to help. On the shirts it says Core vs. Seniors Kickball '06 right? Well now she needs some things to put on the back. She'd like a different something for every shirt so, what I'm asking is that you lend me your immaginations and come up with something witty and clean about kickball!
Thus far she only has "Kickball ain't for sissys." (Not much I know.) But I have faith in you all!

General Discussion / ZoroViga?
« on: April 13, 2006, 05:51:44 pm »
Well, technically it's ZeroVega, but as some of you may have noticed I've been making only 'special' appearances on Layoanra for the past couple months. (Thus I forgive you if you've forgotten me)
Turns out that when you see kids complaining about how "hard life is" they're not entirely over reacting. School is taking up a chunk of time and there are a few other things which I will now list for you in the order of "most important" to "least".
• School
 • My dad is changing jobs... again... thus I'm called to babysit, run errands, and pick up some slack around the house.
 • Youth Group
 • Driver's Ed (should have taken it a year ago... *sighs*)
 • Athletic Training
 • Summer "Preperations"
 • Sibling Sports
Now I'll take the liberty of assuming that some of you will be confused by six and possibly seven so let me explain. "Summer preperations" would stand for various activities I'll be doing over the summer. I've apparently been a "good boy" during the school and my church has offered to pay for me to go on a week long Mission Trip ($150) and a Youth Leadership Conference in Michigan ($750). Also the Police Explorers have offered to send me to Salemburg (a Police Boot Camp) over the summer as well (another $150, payed for). And to top it all off I've been invited to join E-Team. Basically E-Team is a state wide Youth Leadership group that plans and runs camps, retreats, and events for highschool and jr high students. (Another $500+ also payed for)
At this point my family and I are going through a tough decision making process and trying to choose which one(s) I'll go to if any. Also my grandparents live in Ohio and are very old and very sick (a good 11 hour drive). Thus we have to make sure the camps don't conflict with whatever weekend we decide to run up and visit them over the summer. And sports... well I've been called in to stick around at my sister's soccer practices and go to their games (a sacrifice I'm willing to make).
To top it off my parents would like me to take the PSAT, SAT, and ACT during this next school year (my Junior year) and I'll be taking a college class in the Fall, Winter, and Spring (English, Spanish, and Physics respectively). Oh, right, I also play baseball in the Fall and have taken up Cross Country running, which I'll pursue this summer.
Busy busy busy... In conclusion I'll still be around to help out where I can and fulfill the duties I have to the guild, though I'm afraid I'll be shifting the brunt of it to others and will not be logging in to simply goof off or craft. Figured after two months with a grand total of five hours logged in you all deserve my "excuse" so there it is.
  Cheers Folks! "The Forum Ghost"

*Standing on a cliff overlooking Haven, Adrian wonders how much it will hurt if he jumps off and lands on his fullplate. For a moment he considers doing it, until he remembers the spikes on his armor...*

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Monk Discussion
« on: January 06, 2006, 02:54:00 pm »
I've always had a fascination of sorts with monks. Don't know why, just always thought they were neat. Anyway, I was talking to a couple people about it, and they seem to have slightly conflicting views. So I'd like to hear everyone elses take on the class of Monk... after I post mine of course.
Well, we all know that monks channel Ki, right? Well I've heard some people say that it comes from within the monk, while others say it can also come from deities. I've heard quite a few people say that monks should really be... monks, from monasteries. However others seem to believe that a monk could be a someone with a profound connection to something (Ki, a deity, nature, a specific philosophy) who simply fights with his/her hands, or monk weapons.
Well if I ever played a monk again, I'm not sure I'd want him to be a "monk" monk if you know what I mean. I'd prefer the reason to be a little bit more, original, a bit more complicated than that. Well, here's the question. Does that make sense or does it go against everything the Monk class is about? Can anyone really even define a class like that either?

Quests Ideas and Discussion / Xiao ECDQ
« on: January 01, 2006, 07:15:00 pm »
Well it's that time again. Xiao's ECDQ will be coming to a close soon, and we need to decide on a time and date for the next part. It will run three hours max, here are the dates that I'm available and Xiao has agreed to.
  Saturday, Jan 7th, 5am PST/8am EST/1pm GMT
  Sunday, Jan 8th, 5am PST/8am EST/1pm GMT
I'd like those who attended the last part(s) to post which times they will be able to make. (If you can make both, post that you can.) I will choose the one where most people can attend. Also if you have suggestions for time changes I'm open to them, just don't count on me being able to pull it off. Thank you.

General Discussion / Xiao ECDQ Postponed
« on: December 22, 2005, 04:57:00 am »
I was scheduled to run a part of Xiao's ECDQ today at 6pm EST, I won't be able to do that. One of my computers died yesterday, and another one is having serious problems with Nortons. That leaves one working computer to be shared between eight people (which is a huge problem). Also my sister is busy with college searches, and my mother and father are now looking for a new house to rent.
My sincerest appologies to those who were going to attend the quest. I know this isn't much warning, but it's the best I could give.
To Xiao: After we get the new PC and the Nortons problems worked out (should be right after Christmas) I've gotten permission to run a double header so to speak. We can run a quest on Tuesday and Wednesday or whenever you're free and get caught up. Again I appologise, it's out of my hands.

Just for Fun / Halloween Poem
« on: October 27, 2005, 05:23:00 am »
"George B. Jozwiak" wrote:
I first sent this poem out on Halloween in 1996.  I came across it while going through some old files and was inspired to sent it out again.  Those of you out there who remember the days when data was stored on 5 1\\4 and 3.5 inch floppies should appreciate the humor. Abort, Retry, Ignore?  A poem inspired by E. A. Poe's  "The Raven."  Once upon a midnight dreary, fingers cramped and vision bleary, System manuals piled high and wasted paper on the floor, Longing for the warmth of bed sheets, still I sat there doing spreadsheets. Having reached the bottom line I took a floppy from the drawer I then invoked the SAVE command and waited for the disk to store,  Only this and nothing more.  Deep into the monitor peering, long I sat there wond'ring, fearing. Doubting, while the disk kept churning, turning yet to churn some more. But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token. "Save!" I said, "You cursed mother! Save my data from before!" One thing did the phosphors answer, only this and nothing more,  Just, "Abort, Retry, Ignore?"  Was this some occult illusion, some maniacal intrusion? These were choices undesired, ones I'd never faced before. Carefully I weighed the choices as the disk made impish noises. The cursor flashed, insistent, waiting, baiting me to type some more. Clearly I must press a key, choosing one and nothing more,  From "Abort, Retry, Ignore?"  With fingers pale and trembling, slowly toward the keyboard bending, Longing for a happy ending, hoping all would be restored, Praying for some guarantee, timidly, I pressed a key. But on the screen there still persisted words appearing as before. Ghastly grim they blinked and taunted, haunted, as my patience wore,  Saying "Abort, Retry, Ignore?"  I tried to catch the chips off guard, and pressed again, but twice as hard. I pleaded with the cursed machine: I begged and cried and then I swore. Now in mighty desperation, trying random combinations, Still there came the incantation, just as senseless as before. Cursor blinking, angrily winking, blinking nonsense as before.  Reading, "Abort, Retry, Ignore?"  There I sat, distraught, exhausted, by my own machine accosted. Getting up I turned away and paced across the office floor. And then I saw a dreadful sight: a lightning bolt cut through the night. A gasp of horror overtook me, shook me to my very core. The lightning zapped my previous data, lost and gone forevermore.  Not even, "Abort, Retry, Ignore?"  To this day I do not know the place to which lost data go. What demonic nether world is wrought where lost data will be stored, Beyond the reach of mortal souls, beyond the ether, into black holes? But sure as there's C, Pascal, Lotus, Ashton-Tate and more, You will be one day be left to wander, lost on some Plutonian shore,  Pleading, "Abort, Retry, Ignore?"  Have a good haunting this Halloween,  George
General Discussion / Where I've Been (ZV)
« on: October 13, 2005, 05:16:00 am »
For those of you that know me, here's a general notice of where I've been. The SAT and PSAT was given out this past week... I was one of their victems so I was studying for that. Also I play baseball and they felt like calling a few more practices... and I have normal school, and then there were a few birthdays so. I should be coming back on more and more but I don't know when I'll be back playing like I used to. Just a heads up. Hope everyone's having fun!

Development Journals and Discussion / Dalzhind d' natha Erratak
« on: August 06, 2005, 02:17:00 pm »
A gust of wind howled on the Lorindar docks, flipping the pages of a very old tome, as faint beams of moonlight broke through the remnant clouds of a shattered storm. Tathnolu however was not greeted with the sensational smell of a sea breeze but with the smell of an old tome, wet, moldy, and covered in years worth of mushroom spores from his native Underdark...
Tathnolu Rilyn'val, Silver-tongued drow from Olist Orbinn, Wizard of Necromancy, former student of Rufus Coldfinger, Council Member of an Arcane School he shaped with one other... broken and blind. With eyes staring blankly ahead of registering nothing but odd colors floating above where people's heads should be, with slow and paced breaths timing his quill strokes, and with careful thought, Tath slowly poured his mind onto the drow made tome...
I feel, naked in the darkness I weave. I have been devoid of light in my life, but not like this. Flashes of color, strange thoughts fluttering about my head, weakened in an instant by a "too-strong" drink and a battered amulet. In all of the recent events, a strange sensation has developed in me... an odd feeling of mingled excitement, curiosity, and fearful ambition.
Watching Rufus pour the blood filled skull of his enemy into the shattered bloodwell... hearing his claims of Blood witnessing it all... journeying to the greatest source of power I have ever felt... betraying an Undead Lord, cursed to spend eternity in his tomb, ruling dead bodies and moss covered stone...
Tath slowly breaths in pausing for several long moments and fingering the crest of his House... and though it didn't matter he closed his eyes blocking all things from his true sight and envisioned in his mind's eye a game board...
It is a sava game... life is a sava game and I am now rolling the dice... will any god grace me with the luck of spiders?

I'm sorry, last night, right as I used the effect wand and ended the quest the power in my house went out. (No joking) I'm very sorry I didn't have a chance to hand out the experiance or hear any comments about the quest. I have a list of all the players though and your quest work will be rewarded. I'll either get you today or Saturday.
