Could we get the times changed for the GMT people. Last time I was an hour late for the quest, but all I did was follow the times on the page for GMT. And I noticed that the GMT time is again wrong. It should read 2AM GMT since EDT and GMT is 4 hours apart on the server clock. Just a friendly reminder so we dont get any laters.

« on: April 14, 2006, 03:17:30 pm »
I got inspired by the battlerager to try and convert a class Ive always wanted to see in Layo. The slayer. This is just a rough suggestion, and its propely not balanced in any, but I'd like to hear you ideas for this. The main diffrence between ragers and slayers is the reason why they charge into battle. slayers do it to fullfill and oath, to make amense for some terrible incident to them. Its something they rarely if ever talk about and its what drives them into seeking death where ever they can.
Trollslayer  Note: DEtail may change based on playtesting and game balancing Stats: Slayer Hit Die: d12 Proficiencies: A trollslayer does not gain any additional weapon or armor proficiencies. Skill Points: 2 + Int Modifier  Requirements: To qualify as a trollslayer, a character must fullfill all of the following critiria: Class: Figther Alignment: any non lawfull Race: Dwarf Feats: Cleave, Toughness, Power attack, Improved Power attack, Weapon Focus in Greataxe, Weapon Specialization in Greataxe, Improved Critical in Greataxe Base Attack Bonus: +10 Skills: Dicipline 12 ranks  Description: When a dwarven have done a crime or commited a sin that is to great to be amended, he will take up the duty to become a dwarven slayer. He will wander the lands looking for a uneven fight, so he can atone for his sins by dieing honorable in combat.  Abillities:  Bulls Defense (Level 1) - Slayer adds strenght bonus to AC while not wearing armor  Favored Enemy: Trolls (Level 1) - The character gains a +1 bonus to any damage delivered to their favored enemy. They also receive a +1 bonus on listen, spot and Taunt checks against the favored enemy.  Evasion (Level 2) - Slayers are able to escape potential deadly situations.  Uncanny Dogde (Level 3) - Retain dexterity bonus to AC. Even if caught flat-footed.  Damage Reduction (Level 6) - 3 points of damage is ignored whenever you are hit in combat. At level 10 you are able to shrug off 5 points of damage  Armor Skin (level 8) - The character gains a +2 natural bonus to AC  Death or Glory (level 10) - Once per day the slayer cannot be reasoned with and will be seeking death no matter the cost. Its usually ends with the slayers death or the thing fighting the slayer. The slayer gets +4 to strenght and +4 to constituion for 1 turn + the slayers strenght modifer number of rounds. The slayer also gets -2 willsaves.

World Leader Development Quests (WLDQ's) / Gotak Gungur
« on: March 18, 2006, 02:55:30 pm »
Character Name: Gotak Gungur  Current Level: 20  EXP to Level to NEXT level: 300k or something    Original Bio was lost in the old forums, same goes for my old Character Developement Thread.    New Character Thread started when I came back:    http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=22644&posts=2&mid=141233&highlight=&highlightmode=1&action=search#M141233      A sum up of what Gotak have been doing since his arrival to Hlint:    Gotak came to Hlint odd 20 years ago. He soon found him amongst elven and other types aswell. Having hard to adjust he stuck to himself since he didnt know anyone. That soon all changed as he began to meet the people that he would call friends. Reventage was the first person that Gotak learned to trust on, and even thou she was an elf, he never questioned her trust. He met other people to call friends. Brac'ar the fire Wizard. Plenarious the Cleric. Rhizome the Druid. Enzo the Ranger. Among the few the Gotak have met and travel with. Gotak always been a little hottempered and there have been many a times where these people would scratch their heads and mumble something when they saw the dwarf runnning into the thick of midst of enemies. But equal number of times when they saw him cut asunder everything in his path. Gotak decided long ago that he would not devote him self to a single weapon, versatillity is the one pride that Gotak have above all others. His skills with the battleaxe and the Great Axe is unmatched and very similar. You can hardly notice the perfect switched he makes during battle, when he flings his shield aside only to wield his mighty Greataxe with such force you would believe that there was a earth shake. Gotak took great pride in being able to help whereever he could. There was not a place nor an occasion that did not include Gotak in some way. He did not know much about magic, infact he dont know anything, but if there was fighting, many people understood that Gotak was the one to have on their side, even if he was abit frantic and hard to control. Dispite all his friends and all his courage, this way of life took its toll on Gotak and many occasion a shard of his soul was stole during his many deaths. But Gotaks friends were always quick to revieve the dead dwarf cause surely his skills were in great demand. But that all ended one night were Slaads began to attack Mistone. Gotak and a large party of adventures tracked the source of the slaad to the resting place of Arindor. And it was in this place that the final shard of Gotak's soul was ripped out and he left Layonara for good. His friends could do nothing but carry his body to Willows Weep.
  Fast forward 14years.
Gotak wakes up with a sudden rush near the outskirts of Hlint, he feels tired, hungry, and he feels his strenght have been drained. He managed to drag himself to Hlint, only to notice that all his backpacks are missing. And this is where the new life for Gotak began. Confused and feeling old, Gotak had trouble adjusting to the new world he found himself in. Many things had changed since his death. He even denied to have died, until he was show his tomb at Willows Weep. Gotak slowly found new friends in these hard lands, cause along a single dwarf do not make a diffrence anymore. He learned to enjoy the compagny of Alantha, Kobal, The entire Freelancers Guild, and many others. Gotak began to thrive again, and he adventured many new places to learn this new world better. He set it opun him to master the secrets of ultimate strenght, cause only this way could he hope to survieve. Also the Oath Gotak took many years ago, became apparrent for him again, as he was forced to face with the mistakes of the past. The very reason why he choose to come to Hlint. Gotak is not searchig for a home, nor is he searching for fortune. Gotak is searching for to be the best of what he does. He seeks battles whereever they are, and he yearns to become a respected person amongst all. He hopes that the upcoming war will give him the opputunity to prove himself as a mighty fighter, the best of them all.
Quests:  Pre v2 Layonara:    Gotak became a member of the T.A.S. Mistone Alliance force, after a lengthy series by Milo, which was about some mystic blackboxex that fired Hellballs.    Gotak Was part of the questseries that Milo ran called Give in to Hope. I think there was a weapon called Gotaks Revenge in that quest.    Gotak helped killing The Vampire that resided in Broken Halls and was therefore part of lifting the random shadow attacks that appeared all around Mistone.    Gotak was there when a party went into the Ancient Lichs Crypt and made him leave his place outside Krandor.    Gotak was also a part of the first that encountered the scorpion statues that appeared around mistone. Helped find the cause to why the drow kept destroying the crafthouses in Hlint and other cities.    Gotak was part of defending Fort Llast when they were sieged.    Gotak was part of the reason why the sielwood witch disapeared for a time.      This was all done 2½ years back. My memory is not what it used to be, and if some of this stated is wrong, then tell me so.      Accomplishments:    Operation Bloodwar     http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/calendar/event-view.asp?eventid=1644&year=2006&month=1     Gotak took part of the invasion and was able to push Bloods Demon forces back from the Kingdom of Roldem. Gotak was part of Team 3, that had Reventage as their leader.    Kobal ECDQ   http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/calendar/event-view.asp?eventid=1685&year=2006&month=2     Gotak was part of the army that Kobal enlisted to venture deep into Mount Norand to destroy a bloodpool. He met up with Kobal and the rest of his team at Xoras Tower and pushed forth deep into the forgotten Dwarven Stronghold, where he battled many undeads deep beneath the earths surface.    Gloin ECDQ   http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/calendar/event-view.asp?eventid=1720&year=2006&month=2     Gotak was part of the team of adventures that had answered the call to help Clan Stonebrow. He was able with the help of many other, to secure a safe path throught the tunnels inside greypeak to Lar, so that the supply lines could run freely.
A cure is needed... time is running out.    http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/calendar/event-view.asp?action=togglesignup&unavailable=0&eventid=1826&month=3&year=2006     Gotak was part of the team that helped rush a team down into some ancients ruins on the islands of the Kingdom of Roldem. There they sought a cure for the dwarf Gloin who was deadly sick having failed to retrieved the treasured leaves of a rare plant that could save his clansmen.  Having found the plant that gave the the leaves they fought their way out victorius.    Port Hampshire Lighthouse:   http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/calendar/event-view.asp?eventid=1705&year=2006&month=2     A quest of Epic status. Who would have thouhgt that a lighthouse was so complicated. ¤ crystals to be found, all in places where you would never go, unless you had a small army. Two crystals secure so far. And the places keep getting more dangerous if thats even possible.    The Thousand Year Promise   http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/calendar/event-view.asp?eventid=1779&year=2006&month=3     An ungoing quest by Milo that is to secure the world from being overrun by Slaadi. The very same menace that killed Gotak in the first place thus meaning his soul being taken for good. This have a special meaning to Gotak

  Ideas for ECDQ:
Gotaks a figther with big F. He loves to fight and he does it so he can be respected for his skills. Hes not a defender, hes not a person that yearn to find his original mountain home. Hes just Gotak. Gotaks wish is properly to become a Epic Fighter, and I dont mean the class, but the kind of fighter that beats the impossible, and lives to tell the tale. Althou this is almost impossible with Gotak as he is played. I was thinking that maybe he could be involded in a battle for a place, or maybee be involded in a place where a figthers courage and strenght is appreciated without all the majiks that flucatuates around Layonara. I see this ECDQ as a chance to develope Gotak fighting abillties, and not as a way for him to become a better defense fighter. His build have many flaws, but they all illustrate how fragile Gotak really is, and why he must be as strong as he is to survieve. Gotak = Lost founder of dwarven stronghold: No. Gotak = Warhero of the war of a million deaths: Yes.

Thank you for considering this application.

CNR Suggestions/Discussion / Metal Spikes for Shields?
« on: March 12, 2006, 08:26:09 am »
How about we did something like diffrent spikes for shields for some ekstra minimum damage.
Iron +1 ekstra dam on hit
  Ada +2
  Mithril +3
Perhaps make it so you cant have resistance on the shield aswell if you choose to give it a spike.

*Gotak walks up to the Wild Surge Inn and tacks a message up*
I be in me posseion of a fine crafted piece of wood. It be shooting bolts out of it, and it be bloimey fast. Also, it seem to make ye abit more agile when ye use it, must be some kind of majik wood. But since its wood, I dunnae want it, and maybee some treehugger can use it for sum'tin. Loike me up when ye see me. Price be at 40000, and I heard it be kinda cheap so I dun want to skimp on that. But if ye dont got the cash, we can work out a trade.

Bioware Issues / Keeps crashing in Roldem
« on: February 18, 2006, 05:35:07 am »
Oki first time I crashed in the River of Death in the Kingdoms of Roldem. When I tried to log in, I crashed before the loading screen was finished. I talked to Pan as hes was online and he moved me one area back. That fixed the problem. Then I move into the dungeon that is across the river. And I die on the second level, I respawn, and my bindstone is in the jungle Village on roldem, but before the screen can load thorugh, I crash again. and now I cant log in with Gotak since I crash everytime I try to load it up. Not sure how this can be fixed, if its enuff to be moved back to a place wher eI was before.

Development Journals and Discussion / The new life for Gotak
« on: February 16, 2006, 03:54:19 am »
Gotak enters the Wild surge Inn, and begins to move himself to a table near the bar. He sits down and loosens the straps on his plate revealing a robe underneath. The innkeeper comes closer and ask if he wants the usually. Gotak looks up, and asks if the innkeeper has some stronger ale than the normal stuff he sells. As a matter of fact, I just got a large shipment of Dwarfs Head Ale in from Leilon, brewed by the innkeeper from the arms. Gotak thinks to himself that the beer that derrick makes always been a pure pleasure to drink and he accepts the innkeepers offer. The innkeeper returns with the beer and sets it on the table. Gotak takes a big swill from the flask, and lets it flow around in his mouth, before swallowing. His eyes fall down on the etiquette attached to the flask. He reads it aloud in his head:

This strong ale was once only served to dwarven nobility. Thus it's name. It would only placed at the Kings table or the Head table. This drink first found its way to the general population at the celebration honoring the dwarven champion, Gotak Gungur. Still today when you see a table of dwarves raise their steins you will hear this declaration... "Deathward is fer pansies!"

Gotak rips the etiquette of the flask, and tears into pieces and scatter the pieces all over the table. He thinks to himself: That etiquette have lost all what it used to stand for. I never was a hero in anyway, and I’m certainly not a hero anymore. Gotak begins to wonder if there was a meaning to why he was brought back from the beyond. Lately I have been killed in ways I didn’t know existed, but still the soul mother refuses to take my soul back. What more shall I go through before my time is done here on Layonara. What more is asked of me, before I can rest and make the tales of me come true. Gotak sighs and finishes his beer, and picks up his plate and hurries into his room, and slams the door behind. As he lie on the bed with his eyes on the ceiling, he sees his death before he came back, again and again. He closes his eyes and still the scene flickers over his eye lids. He falls asleep.

the door at the Inn. He looks thin and tired, like he walked througheternity itself. He drags his weak body across the floor, much to theamusement of some elves in the room. He slowly stops once in while toregain his strenght, pausing and breathing as if his life was about toend. He finnaly reaches the innbar where he starts to pull his body uptowards the counter, with his armstrenght alone. He growls and cursesas if his entire body is one long terrible infestation of vile andpain. He manages to lift himself a foot, and his lips begin to mutter."Yes!?": The innkeeper says couriously after have seen the dwarf draghis body thru the entire inn. "I nee... I need...": The dwarf sputters."You need what?" The innkeeper ask impaiently. "I nee... I need..I needa..." the dwarf says as if suddenly his strenght returns and his voicesbecomes clear. The innkeeper, turns his good ear to the dwarf andsays: "Come again?" The dwarf sighs and mutters: "Nothings changed". He open up a bottle of bear and chugs it withamazing speed. The other bottle goes down just as fast. He fixates hiseyes on the road and start to wander....

Hall of Heroes and Heroines / Life and death of Gotak Gungur
« on: July 18, 2004, 05:18:00 pm »
Gotak was the second born son of Gragar and Tilar Gungur. He always looked up to his older brother Grogil, who had a reputation as one of the best bodyguards in Mistone. Through misfortune an bad luck Grogil was dishonored and was forced to exile from Mistone. He left no message behind and left for an unknown destination for a honorable death. Gotak soon became aware of his brothers leave, and took up the heavy burden from his brother to carry on in his place. Gotak was always the biggest of the two brothers and therefore had some trouble adjusting into the the new surroundings in Hlint always being the mockery of elven jokes.
The last day of Gotak Gungur:
Loud noises sweep through the air, sounds of metal hitting metal echo through the halls. Men yelling battle orders and others screaming in anger. The place is Arindors resting place, and the scenery is seen before.
A dwarf in the front dogding blows and at a pace no mere elf could ever hope to acheive. His axe kills with every swing, and he carves a way through the menacing slaads, as they feel the searing steel of his flameing axe. His eyes are red, and his beard the same colour, a battlefever have taken over him, and he is unstoppable on the point of madness, as no enemy can best his mighty axe and his quick strikes. A small break occours, as the slaads retreat back into the depts to regain strenght. A slow slaad dosnt quite make it fast enuff through the shadowry tunnels and the dwarf manages to pick an wood axe from his belt and fling it at the back of its skull. It falls to the ground with a heavy thumb. The rest of the party have to combine their strenght to hold back the dwarf for following the slaaads. He sighs, and looks at the rest of the party all bloody and tired, and he finnaly settles abit down. He realice that not everyone can be a dwarf.
He sits himself next to a fellow, but younger dwarf and offers him a drink from his canteen. The younger dwarf accepts it and drinks it, only to spit it out quickly after."Hmm I guess your not used to drinking the good stuff yet. It will come, and will grow some chesthair on you" the dwarf laughs as he takes a swig of and sinks the fluids. He looks to his side and see the clerics discuss heavily. He leans in to hear what they are discussing. The clerics are cursing and it seems that they was not prepared for this kinda opposition. The dwarf smiles and thinks to himself, what opposition, just some overgrown lizards, nothing hard here. Then he looks over to see the troubled face of the younger dwarf. The clerics keep raising their voices and they stand up and starts to yell about going back, and that going on would be suicide. The dwarf stands up and approches the clerics. "Whats the big problem here" The dwarf interrupts the clerics. The clerics confine to the dwarf that the sacred symbols to ward of unwanted death, the socalled deathward was not going to be enuff to shield the entire party, and that going on without, especcially this close to the resting place of Arindor, would be like killing yourself. The dwarf looked at his party, and then again to the young dwarf. He closes his eyes for a moment, and breathes steadily in and out. He pushes the cleric again and says that how many people does the deathward last for, and the clerics says that all except one, can be protected. But the cleric dont want to kill anyone and he dont want to commit anyone to choosing to go without. The dwarf tightens the grip of his axe, his knuckles white, and his eyes starts to become red again. "Deathward is fer pansies" the dwarf thunders as he charges down the narrow path. "Get everyone ready and come if your able to keep up" he yells back. The cleric didnt know what to do, but hastily prepared the party to move after the dwarf.
The dwarf comes to a open place where dousins og slaads had hold up to prepare to defend. They didnt expect anyone to come so soon, and they were thrown of their guard. the dwarf jumps into the fray and starts to hack the slaads to pieces. As their deathwails echo down the halls, the dwarf can hear his party approaching, and he looks back for a sec to see if the young dwarf is with them. At the very same moment a slaad casts a foul magic of the unwanted kind upon the dwarf, and as quick as he normally is, the dwarf is caught flatfooted and off balance, and cannot avoid the swirling bright vortex that engulfs him. The dwarf feels his entire body fighting this magic and it torts in anger to resist it. But the magics are to strong, and the last thing the dwarf sees is his party jumping in to kill the last slaads. The vortex ends, and the dwarfs body falls to the ground. His eys blindly looking into the neverending rooms, with his axe in his hand. A voice begins to fade in and it says: Gotak? Gotak?

Gotak? Gotak?
Gotak looks up from the table, and looks around. He is in a golden hall filled with beautyfull jewelry, large kegs with beer flowing freely from then. A endless tables with meats upon meat that streatches as far an eye can see. Im glad to see you here Gotak, a dwarf speaks in a high brumming voice. We've been following you for quite some time and were glad to have such a hero among the gods. Hero?, gotak puzziling asks. Yes a hero, your deeds does not go unnoticed here at the halls of Vorax. Now you can look forward to an endless time of feasting and telling stories and eating. All the best things from your world, and you can do it all the time, the dawrf says. And who are you?, gotak asks. I am our gods main greeter, the one that accepts all new people that vorship Vorax into our halls. Gotak looks around, he realises that he is dead, and finds himself puzzled that all there is to this place, the place that he always wanted to come, is nothing more than all what he ever did on earth. The greeter notices Gotak wearing face and asks if everything is not what he ever wanted. Gotak looks at him and says: Yes, its all I ever wanted, all I ever sought was a glorious death, a death against unwhelming odds, a fight I could never win. The greeter says: And didnt you get a fight against impossible odds, and didnt you die like a true hero would die, sacrifing his safety to ensure others. Gotak grins: you call that a fight? That was just a mere fluke of uneasy conditions, I would have beaten the slaads, im sure of it. But you didnt, the greeter says. You didnt survieve and you died, thus meaning that it is your time to come to halls of Vorax. Gotak snorts and says in a low voice, It was not overwhelming odds, howcome the party didnt die if I did then? Because you ran off without a deathward, the greeter sighs. Listen, everyone feels the same as you do when they first come, but after a while they learn to accept it, and in time they come to see this place as their new home. No, Gotaks says, starting to back away from the table, I will not let death be so cheesy, I will not accept that I died while fighting an inferior enemy, I will not seize to know that my work on Layonara is done. Know this and know it forever, Gotak yells and swings his mighty axe into the tables, splitting it in two, with food and beer splilling all over. A loud booming laughter fills the halls, and the entire hall breaks out in joyness laughter. Gotak looks up, and realizes that he is the cause of the laughter. You passed the test. The first in a long time Gotak: the greeter says. Test?!, Gotak mumbles. What bloody test? I just want back! The test is to see if your fit to return to your world. we always apply it newcommers when they are still in shock of the deatheffect, the loss of soul, and cannot make heads or tails of where they are, and as such accept their deaths and move on. But not you. I guess its from all your deaths that you dont have any ill side-effects, hmm we have to study ths at a later point. Gotak says: Later? Yes later, the greeter say, your needed on Layonara and theres not a second to spare, to much have passed since you came here. I came here only 15min ago, gotaks grins at the greeter. Hmm yes, but time works diffrent here, and many moons have passed since you, eehh, unvoulentarily left Layonara. But enough talking, walk with me.
The greeter takes Gotak to a curtain inside the halls, and pulls it aside. A wast open space appears for Gotaks eyes and seems to go on forever. If you choose to go back, you only have to take one step forward and you'll be back in Layonara, but.....!! But what? Gotaks asks. There is some sideeffects to this procedure, and its actually not been used in ages, not sure it even works, the greeter says with a small grin. Gotak looks into the black beyond, nothing but darkness that goes on forever. He closes his eyes, and tells the greeter that he wont be back for while, and then he jumps. His body feels weightless and for a moment it feels as if hes not going anywhere, he just trapped in this inifinite void of nothingness. Then suddenly the tiniest of lights begin to appear way out in the distance, and a sound start to ring in his ears, and the sound becomes louder and louder, and the light becomes brigther and brigther, and soon it fills the entire void that Gotak is in, and the sounds explodes in his ears.
