Rumour Has It / Toranites lead the way
« on: March 08, 2008, 07:53:25 pm »
Rumours on Mistone persist about some stunning successes by the Undead Hunters of Toran in their endless struggle. There is talk of vampire cults and vampires slain, Liches destroyed, would be liches deterred, and would be summoners of liches put to flight. There is talk the Undead Masters of Corath are a spent force and the Black Wizards silenced.

Rumour Has It / Crime caper in Lor
« on: August 31, 2007, 05:11:10 am »
Nus the bard was on hand at Lor recently to hear the twin Mayors announce a crackdown on Dockland crime. Faltina Capmansh a leading socialite and renowned duellist from the Noble Quarter at Lor, led a mixed group of adventurers deep down into the sewers and put paid to a nest of thieves in their sordid den. Faltina talking to this bard said." I was just trying to help the poor victims of the docks. It was nothing really."

Nus the bard will keep you posted on this and other stories from Lor.

Rumour Has It / Greatly Desired
« on: June 13, 2007, 05:58:59 am »
Some info on some one off fetch and carry tasks under the banner Greatly Desired.

From time to time these wanted posters will be displayed at Towns, most probably Port Hempstead. While the sign is in place, then the reward offered on the poster is valid for someone/something in game. Anyone succesfully completing the task should try the GM channel for myself, and thereafter PM if no reply.

These are not actual quests, as in though I will likely be online I will not be exclusively following progress of any group/person. Any clues to  a trail/location of said person/item will be static in game clues and so there is no point in seeking GM aid.  eg ( chasing the Red wizard, you might find somewhere near his location : a stray red thread hangs from this bush)

thanks

Rumour Has It / Wayfare to Wolfswood
« on: March 31, 2007, 04:02:22 am »
Rumour persists around the Inns and markets of Fort Wayfare concerning the activities of the recently formed 16th Patrol of Skirmishers at Fort Wayfare.

It would seem the the local authorities had managed to obtain the services of one Captain Devon of the Wolfswood Rangers to help establish this new patrol as a premier patrol. The patrol was led on an expected simple first expedition down into the northern rim of the Wolfswood to track and return some stray giants before they caught up with some passing nomads of the III, that they were pursuing. Unfortunately Devon led this patrol into what seemed like an assembled army. Captain Devon with elements of the 16th and the nomads fell to this onslaught. Reports of a heroic attempt to fight through to the battlefield by the remainder of the patrol persist though the Patrol has currently been disbanded until further recruiting is undertaken.

Gilbert's guide to the World has rated the Wolfswood northern rim as unsafe.

Rumour Has It / Friends of Hurm Society
« on: December 29, 2006, 12:56:16 am »
*A notice*

The Friends of Hurm Society proudly announce the forming of a second expedition into the Moss Crypts and the lair of the Black Plague.

An expedition will be assembled from those with sufficient knowledge and skill, of one or more of the following: the locality, the beast, and the battles that might be expected within.

The expedition aim is to negotiate with the beast and secure a long term plague free future for Hurm.

A public meeting prior to this adventure might rightly be assembled

Thus far the Society has negotiated with such reputable and proud trading organisations as the Orc Bashers, and the Freelancers Tavern.

It is expected these and other important sponsors will come onboard this important project.

Opinion and support is still craved particularly from those with knowledge and expertise.

*neatly tacked between an advert for a second hand Miner's pick and a No Win no Fee advert for Mining accident claims*

Interesting Investigations, the cart for Brualot, long considered Layonara's premier investigator, continues to quietly but efficiently open its discreet doors for business at 184 Haven. Callers may consider using birds, messengers, and other safe methods of enquiry while the 'troubles'around Haven mine remain. Customers are assured that normal services are being operated.

Firstly nice game all, some nice rp, and it was kept moving along nicely.

If you were on this game I owe you an hour xp, somewhat worryingly I lost an hour of time here, which I only realised when I left.

So I will look for you in game. send me a tell if you spot me online.

It was way past my sleep time and so no wonder I was tired, apologies all, I now realise someone tried to tell me: too subtle for me at the time.

Rumour Has It / Waking the Undead: Setting sail
« on: March 11, 2006, 02:06:39 am »
by Nus the Bard

The story probably goes back to Quantum the Undead slayer and his early exploits in the hunt for Mechidil the Demi Lich and the three Vampires, others say it begins with Tcarre the Demon Witch of the Black Isle and the making of the Twin Swords of Toran and Corath. I am not sure any of these events are related and would not care to say at this time.

What I do know is thta in recent times a small band of adventurers hired to carry raw gold, for further working, to a remote Island too difficult to find without magical aid, recorded the sighting of a pyramid on that remote Druid run island.

Much later and nearer home Undead attack on those of Aeridin and others prompted the interest of Paladins and Undead hunters in various cults around Sielwood and Swordrust Mountains. The pyramid seemed to link these events in some fashion or other. I have consulted far and wide and sense various tales best told by those involved merging as one; the link to such a merging I will explain.

Cal the Undead hunter of Toran and senior to Quantum, organised a party to rescue a Gnomish inventor and navigator from the clutches of Drow captors. With his freedom, and expertise there seemed a way open to return to the island described by those gold carriers of long ago.

It seems the navigator, having built a device, has persuaded his Captain to take the Vital Spark back into these magical waters that hide a long forgotten Island. It is expected a party of adventurers might hope to join the crew with a view to lining the captain's pockets with gold coin and the adventurers..well who knows?

Development Journals and Discussion / The Thorn in the Thistle
« on: February 05, 2006, 02:41:26 pm »
If each is only a sum of its parts, then the story of Thorn Thistletoe the fifth is best started back aways. I was never one to rush a story, and so this one best begin with Thorn Thistletoe the first. Formerly of the Corntoes, he was renamed on account of his bad luck to live in the shaded side of the hill, just a little short of Highpass Fort. Well where his wealthier neighbours got corn he got thorns. Not one to roll over lightly he tried to shake the family out of the shade by trading in thorns, thus removing the threat to his families feet, and making a little wealth. Strong of determination, always a optimist he set to it. He got the first family luck when he discovered thorns made a sort of pipeweed, mostly unacceptable elsewhere but useable locally. His natural flair for business and luck came good after a while when a local wizard started taking his stock of thorns and in return enchanted his pipeweed, which soon sold well among the many scattered communities. Indeed it was no time at all, a mere 30 years before Thorn Thistletoe the first was moving into his house in the sunshine on top of the hill. Of course they suggested he change his name again, but Thorn would have none of it, he knew where the family was going, and it did not involve no Corntoes.

Well I guess thats enough of Old Thorn Thistletoe the first for now...

Rumour Has It / Old Wounds
« on: January 06, 2006, 11:41:00 am »
A recount of some recent events at Leilon and the surrounding area, by Nus the Bard.

I found myself drawn once again to the north west and the coastal town of Leilon. There appears considerable change in this place since I last visited. Some of the charm is gone surely, and a dullness about the place, however there is a lively Inn, the Leilon Arms, safe in the hands of a business consortium born of adventure. It is a must for all would be adventurers with a pouch of gold.

I found the docks busy as usual but with a more sinister twist than perhaps one would like. Though travel is cheap and efficient I would recommend keeping a safe eye on ones belongings. The local militia though present seemed to lack a certain zeal. At the time of my visit the Harbour Master, one Joseph Noy had recently been found dead on the nearby so called Barbarian Island. Unconfirmed reports suggest he was the victim of a northern based gang which had kidnapped his daughter one Johanna Noy, who was later found safe at home gentler readers will be pleased to learn.

The brother of Joseph, one Ivan Noy, a ship builder, has been placed under temporary house arrest while the Militia go about their business. It appears this brother has decided not to trust entirely to his fate and has hired adventurers to look after his interests by making enquiry. One can only wonder where that might lead.

Well as I swing east towards the gate and the road south to Blackford Castle, a plesant and green land, I can only wonder at the town and how it will look next time if this decline in standards continues.

Wild Surge Inn / A colourful notice
« on: January 04, 2006, 02:15:00 pm »
A colourful notice is placed at the Inn,

They seek colour here, they seek failure there,
They seek deceipt here, they seek colour there,

They tell me the colour of deceipt is known,
They tell me the colour of failure too is known,

Someone somewhere knows,
Somewhere someone knows,

But sink me for I do not know,
But thinks I, you do know,

And if you do know either colour,
3000 gold  you know, per colour,
